“We should be arriving in Newthrone later today, I’m not quite sure on what we’re looking at here, they didn’t tell us much, just about this Fiend in the jungle, that we had some templars escorting an expedition and they stopped reporting after a couple signs of abyssal activity, I know I’m not supposed to question our superiors but going in blind like this …. It makes me uneasy. Emilia is here too, she’s cheerful and keep telling us we’re the best and brightest squad the Silver Flame could’ve blessed, Lucas keeps telling her off and complaining about Q’Barra, seems like the mosquitoes there are the size of oranges.”

“We found this man as we searched the expedition's last known camp, a human, he looks incredibly sick, pale and his hair is white, but his complexion is of a man in his 30s, our cleric offered to assist him but he refused, claimed he’s well, Borgos wanted to interrogate him, the site wasn’t public knowledge and a human just happening to be there is suspicious, not a scale, a human man! It didn’t end well, this places looks horrid, the walls have large gashes and the doors are smashed in, but not a single drop of blood to be found …. Lucas says the group was attacked by animals or scales, and the rain just washed the blood off, but not a single drop of blood, no stains, nothing.”

“Borgos spent the day talking to the man, he wants him as our guide now, he looks strange, no explanations or any talk as of why, just a direct order from the officer in command here, everyone is uneasy, the man introduced himself as Alistair Cromwell and he claims to be a miner, Lucas thinks he’s a vampire but he walks out during the day and nothing happens, yet we don’t see him eat or sleep, he doesn’t thrist nor tire, I spoke with Lucas and Emilia, we’ll be taking turns tonight, we don’t like being around him.”

“We found them, this place is big, unreasonably big, at first we thought this was a cave, but the walls have runes, Borgos told us to be on our guard, a scale warned us about this place, told us not to enter, but Alistair was adamant that this was the place, did Borgos tell him why we’re here? Who first saw them was Emilia, she screamed so horridly I swear I’ll be having nightmares for a good while, all their bodies, hanging from the ceiling …. I didn’t know any of them personally but I wouldn’t wish this fate to a werewolf, too cruel, it has to be a Fiend, no one could do such a thing to other people.”

“They’re dead, I can feel it, when we woke up, 3 of our escorts were missing, and Lucas is about to snap, he looks scared and confused, Emilia is crying a lot too …. Borgos just insists that we must push forward even deeper, Alistair told us to push on and said he’ll meet us up ahead, he need some rest, I haven’t seen him sleep in weeks, I go relieve myself in the woods, he’s awake and staring at the fire, or reading a book, I got back from a bath and he was still around, helping the templars pack the camp ….. Are there any kinds of vampire that walk under the sun? It’s just us now, I don’t want to be here, I don’t, what would Tira do? Lucas wants to stay up and interrogate Alistair himself, I think I should help him.”

“I want to go home, Mum …. Dad …. Danny … I shouldn’t have come here, Alistair came back, but now Emilia is missing,  Lucas was really angry at him and Borgos this morning, now he just seems numb … I thought I heard him crying as we walked in deeper, how big is this place anyway? These halls seem too big for humans, even for a Goliath, Giants maybe? Alistair said we should be getting there by the end of the day …. I’m so sick of him, where are we getting? Where is “there”? He keeps smiling at me and telling me to stay strong, that this fiend is strong but we can defeat it, we have the Silver Flame!”

“I can’t see the ceiling anymore, just this mist covering it, we left the hall yesterday evening, or I think it was around evening time, no way to be sure when there’s no sun, Borgos seems happy today and so does Lucas, Alistair disappeared again. I’m scared, Lucas tried to comfort me when I told him that, he told me everything will be ok, what’s weird is, he asked me if I could see the Tree, I can bearly see past what the lantern shines on, I asked him about it and he just told me to get some rest, I do feel tired, I never thought I’d wish to just find a Fiend, but I do now, I wish we’d find it and kill it, then get out of this place. But then again …. Where did we come from? The ground is murky; our feet are sinking in close to our knees now.”

“Lucas killed Borgos this morning, I them going to take a look around the camp but he came back alone and bloody, he said he Fiend took Borgos and he ran back but promised me he’d guide me, he claims that even without the lantern he can still see in the dark a bit, he asked me again about the Tree, with all this mud, I can’t see any roots, nor do my feet feel any, I just want to get this over with, as we ate our rations I heard him mumbling to himself, something about how delicious that fruit must be, I’m tired, I’d better get some rest.”
