  1. [19:38] Was it right that he was fighting against his home? Those he called friends and those he used to pardon their actions of in the past. He didn't particularly shun the art of Necromancy or things like that, but the way things were in Dawn now?
  2.
  3. He just couldn't stand to be there or bring himself to like the place. Because of his father and the way he was treated because of him. Because of the Fallen One that talked of genocide residing there. Because of how his father forced his will onto others and practically made them his slaves.
  4.
  5. His father to him had been the root of his problems for a while now. Before he had even left Dawn or as it was now called, Dusk. Such a name lame really. But fitting for the darkness that his father was made of and brought forth.
  6.
  7. Though, he didn't desire death Upon most of them really. Only the angel and particularly, his father. Though, fights were happening around and he had little to think on. He'd fight off the forces, weaker magi and non magi. Not very difficult alone but in numbers they could still pose a bit of a threat.
  8.
  9. In the midst of battle he would happen upon Ascalon, someone he considered a friend. Still even. But right now? They were on opposing sides.
  10.
  11. He would make a little bit of casual talk as he stood there, calling forth his spirits and golden lightning.
  12.
  13. "To think I'd be fighting against ya' after fighting alongside ya' to slay that beast."
  14.
  15. He'd pull his staff from his back as he held it in front of him. A firm grip as he focused on Ascalon.
  16.
  17. "I hope ya' don't think ill of me for the path I am walking now. But standing with my father is something I could not do any longer."
  18. (Jun Ultovex)
  19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. [19:47] The deafening sounds of battle rung in the Oscuri's ears. They never stopped, always the screams, the smoke, the singe of mana. It'd followed him throughout the battle for Dawn's sovereignty. For it's very survival and the survival of those who lived within it's sunken homes.
  22.
  23. Sometimes he asked himself. What was he fighting for? Who was he fighting for? Was it Dusk or Akasha? No, those names where mockeries of the home he'd been born in. It wasn't to serve a monstrous being of the old divine wars. Nor was it to slave under the Ultovexian regime.
  24.
  25. Was it vengeance for Lirien, to defend his family in Dawn, for the average person? A twinge of pain coursed through his missing eye. Yes, he'd fought for the city before and suffered greatly. It was the way of life in the city. Fight or die, both inside with the others who lived their and the countless enemies beyond.
  26.
  27. The crack of his whip was like thunder, striking down the non-magi as they crowed to face him. The serrated length simply passing through the armor and shields that they held. Yet, it was at the sight of Jun that the Oscuri focused. A single glowing emerald hue locking upon the Ultovex.
  28.
  29. "I don't blame you for your choices. I'd stood for change once and it cost me Lirien. For all your fathers faults at-least he doesn't pretend not to be a monster like those in Levengard."
  30.
  31. The Zanders shifted his footing, the whip coming to rest behind him. When it struck it'd be a surprise.
  32.
  33. "I don't suppose you'd be willing to surrender?"
  34.
  35. (Ascalon Zanders)
  36. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  37.
  38. [19:53] Reasonable words. He had lost things because of change. Not wanting it because of that wasn't anything he would fault him for. Not everyone wanted change. Frankly he didn't want change entirely. Just someone that wasn't his father and some angel that popped out of nowhere as a leader of his home.
  39.
  40. Was it betrayal in a sense? Yes, but he didn't care about that. His father had betrayed his trust, his loyalty. His respect. Speak9ing of disowning him if he was captured, being attacked by those he was once friends with because of his fathers actions. Him falling for the lies of a Fallen Angel. It was all to much for him.
  41.
  42. He wasn't going to help a man that was foolish for one as well as a man that would not give him aid in return for him giving such. It was a two way road if one wished for him to help. If the person didn't like that? Then they were not worth his time.
  43.
  44. "If I surrender you'll most likely take me to my father and that's a place I don't want to be if I can help it. Going back there while he still hold powers Is not one of my desires. Removing him from it, is."
  45.
  46. He'd speak no more as he looked right at Ascalon, It was clear that he didn't wish to speak anymore. Simply to fight and get this over with.
  47. (Jun Ultovex)
  48. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  49.
  50. [19:56] That singular emerald hue never left Jun as they spoke. Ascalon couldn't fault him for his choice. It was after all not something anyone would wish to return to. Especially as a traitor. Taking a breath the Oscuri called deep into the realm beyond beseeching the aid of his father. Though he wouldn't know until the fighting started if they'd here him and answer. Only a prayer for aid at this point.
  51.
  52. "I can respect those desires."
  53.
  54. It was all that was said by the Oscuri before the crack of his whip sounded above the battlefield. It seemed the Oscuri was willing to indulge in the impatient desire for the fighting to begin. For it to end? No, that'd not come about until the next coming of Azrael.
  55. (Ascalon Zanders)
  56. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  57.
  58. [20:09] ** Ascalon Zanders has inflicted an injury upon Jun Ultovex. ("Permanent Injury", "Permanent Injury", "Permanent", "Severity: MODERATE (-10 Vit)") **
  59. [20:41] The crack of thunder began the battle. Whether it was from Jun's lightening shimmering in holy splendor or the crack of Ascalon's vicious whip would be left for future generations to argue or debate.
  60.
  61. As odd as it was the two had never fought each other before. Yes, they'd fought together in hand against the likes of the Mimic or against the great Remcalais yet now? They battled on another viciously.
  62.
  63. The Zanders found himself struggling to out-speed the arcing electricity that coursed off of the lightening magi. The sparks of electricity scouring his form, burning his armor with black-scars. His whip often times was caught by the spirits that seemed to flock to Jun or else came to find empty space as the man rode the lightening. All the while the warrior felt himself being whittled down.
  64.
  65. Yet, with each exchange of pain the Oscuri's wrath only increased. Not at Jun, at the world he lived within. This was someone he'd grown up alongside. Someone who'd shed blood for him. In Azrael's paradise this kind of battle would never take place.
  66.
  67. Violence, that was how you changed the world. As the coursing lightening, blessed by order struck his form. The Oscuri let out a howl of fury. Reika coursing through his frame in rapid pulses, rolling off him with a fiery essence. Wings of pure energy forming upon his back as he rushed forward. Though there was also something else that seemed to course about the man. A protective sphere as if they where touching into the realm of spirits. A rush of emotions touched the raging Oscuri's mind as they charged.
  68.
  69. Feelings of restraint and respect. The honor of a Knight. He knew what it was that was touching him, guiding him to be better than what they where in Dusk. However, they couldn't accept that hesitation yet they had win. Though the blessing was there roiling around them like an inferno. The smaller spirits about the Ultovex would quake at the might of an Oscuri blessed by a super magi from the realm beyond.
  70.
  71. The crack of his whip echoed as spirits where either beaten to the side or those that where quicker felt the intense spiritual pressure emanating off of the Oscuri. Clearing the path for the Zanders tackle into the other man. The weight of a flying Oscuri hurtling them both into the dirt. The kicking and struggling was fierce at first. However, Ascalon's strength proved the stronger. His left hand shot down swiftly to crash into the Ultoxex's nose disorientating him.
  72.
  73. What came next was Ascalon raising his right hand the shining glow of Azrael like a great beacon. Through clenched teeth the man uttered quickly. "See the world as it could be Jun." With that the Oscuri's hand came down swiftly. Placing it fully upon the effeminate man's right eye. The mark of his hand upon their face would be forever burned upon him. The pain would be temporary. The visions of Azreal that came after? Would be eternal.
  74.
  75. Whether Jun passed out from the beating or remained awake mattered little. Ascalon's grip never faltered as he pulled out thick manacles to clasp upon the man's forearms. Breathing heavily he'd looked down at the man making sure they weren't dead or at-risk of dying.
  76. (Ascalon Zanders)
  77. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  78.
  79. [20:53] He always had trouble fighting Oscuri. Feth was a particularly Difficult one for him but Ascalon? He was even worse. Even as he rushed forwards and attacked, he was just met with his ability to use his magic disabled or it not even affecting Ascalon as at times he'd dodge it with ease.
  80.
  81. Perks of how he seemed to fight. A style associated with the winds. A thing he had not fought against much, if at all. He'd give Ascalon a run for a bit but in the end, he'd be brought down to the ground. A hand placed on his face and over his right eye.
  82.
  83. A glowing hand of Rieka at that which would burn into his face. Though, he had faced far worse pain than this. The beast that the two had fought was a lot stronger and the injury it left? Hurt a lot more than this. But the side effect of this would seem to be visions of Azrael flashing through his head. Showing him what a future under Azrael could be like.
  84.
  85. Those visions were futile against him though. If he did take some after his father. It was his lack of care for religion.
  86.
  87. "Heh, pushing visions of Azrael on me is a waste of time. All you've done is give me a useless injury. I care not for the gods or their wants. I care for myself and what I want."
  88.
  89. Perhaps those words would disappoint Ascalon, perhaps they wouldn't. It was pretty known that his father cared not for religion, so why not him as well.
  90.
  91. "I guess ya' plan on taking me to my father then? Or ya' gonna let me go?"
  92.
  93. That was probably a stupid question, but oh well. He wouldn't fall unconscious though.
  94. (Jun Ultovex)
  95. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  96.
  97. [20:57] Frowned as he looked down at the man. Another godless heathen like the rest of his family it seemed. Did they all worship the void? "If we'd crossed paths in the wild you'd be walking away free. However, you've raised hands against your home."
  98.
  99. As they spoke they got off of Jun, though it wasn't long till they leaned down and hefted up the magi. Simply carrying them over his shoulder back towards Dawn. Most likely to his death. An unpleasant thought in his mind.
  100. (Ascalon Zanders)
  101. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  102.
  103. [21:02] "Heh. You act as if I wish for my home to fall. I only wish for my father to fall. The man that is the root of all of your problems. The man that makes everyone hate me and wish me dead. The man that would simply disown me if I were captured by the enemy."
  104.
  105. He'd give a few words as he was lifted up. Not much he could do to fight back. On that front he is exhausted. Though he still had plenty of energy to speak.
  106.
  107. "He see's ya' all as tools. I'm sure he see's that Fallen One as a tool for some greater plan as well. He's a terrible father for one and a terrible leader second. Ya' all are expendable to him."
  108.
  109. He'd give a look back. Boy would Ardith, Magdalen, and his mother not be happy about this.
  110.
  111. "Makes me a bit disappointed that ya' still follow a man like that really. Though I doubt my words are going to sway your decision."
  112. (Jun Ultovex)
  113. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  114.
  115. [21:08] For a time Ascalon listened to Jun. They weren't saying anything he didn't already know. Yet, he had time and could at the very least explain himself to an old friend.
  116.
  117. "You're forgetting one thing Jun. I'm an Oscuri, my entire life has been lived within Dawn. You're his son and yet you could escape. Me? My death is assured should I be caught beyond this city's limits. Perhaps that helps to explain why I remain."
  118.
  119. It was a prison one he couldn't escape. He'd been trying for most of his adult life. Yet, in a world such as this one. What hope was their? Slowly the Osucri's feet started to walk. Back towards Dawn.
  120.
  121.
  122. (Ascalon Zanders)
  123. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  124.
  125. [21:18] "Those at Levengard are not as kill hungry as ya' think. Though they would make ya' black line. Which isn't a fate for Oscuri. But you to are wrong about one thing."
  126.
  127. He wasn't safe either. He had already been met with hostilities since he had left. Him, his mother, and his sister. Yet he was doing his best to give those reason not to kill him. Offered aid, or compliance. To an extent. He wasn't going to offer aid to the point that he was a pawn.
  128.
  129. "I am the son of Sors. I've already had attempts at my life since I left. I can just leave yes, but does that mean safety? No. When I stepped foot in Leven I was met with at the very least Fifteen Magi all with their weapons raised at me. Ready to kill me. Simply because I am an Ultovex. My fathers son."
  130.
  131. "You are not the only one who would be slain for who or what you are. Or who you came from Ascalon. I gave them reason to not kill me though. But to do that I had to help stop my father and that Fallen One that preaches false things to Dawn."
  132.
  133. They thought the angel would bring a change. They were right, it would. But not one that would even benefit them. Extinction? That was not a benefit.
  134.
  135. "I wished to forge my own path. One you've said to not judge me for. But in my eyes? Ya' are judging me for it. Using my choices against me. Making me look like a villain. Making me look like the bad one for trying to stop the one who views my family, friends, my home as pawns."
  136.
  137. "All for his own gain."
  138. (Jun Ultovex)
  139. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  140.
  141. [21:31] "I'm bitter, forgive me for it. It's hard to live a life behind bars. I don't fault you for the path you've walked. I only envy it."
  142.
  143. There was something distasteful about it all. He couldn't help but feel envy and petty for Jun. A man who'd been born within Dawn. Trapped and ensnared by it. Yet, what was he to do? He was a Knight of the city and it was his duty to bring down it's enemies.
  144.
  145. "Jun, if you'd escaped would you have continued to try and destroy my home? Would you have warred against Dawn more?"
  146.
  147. As he spok ehe'd remain where he was. Awaiting the young Ultovex's answer. A soft glow of Reika emanating off of him as he tried to gauge their response.
  148. (Ascalon Zanders)
  149. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  150.
  151. [21:44] "I know how ya' feel on that front Ascalon. I can't fault ya for being envious though. If I were still in your shoes, I would honestly hold some envy as well. I have held envy for years towards those that just came and went. While I was forced to stay in Dawn by my parents while being met with threats of being collared if I tried to leave."
  152.
  153. That had lead to a distaste towards his parents more. His mother had been the main person who pushed that but he realized now that it was just her being overprotective. Even if he still didn't like how they forced him there.
  154.
  155. It never had sit well with him to this day. But the past was the past.
  156.
  157. "Frankly, I don't want to fight ya' all now. You're my friends, family, comrades. Even if I don't stay in Dawn now, I still hold no Ill towards any of ya' but my father and the fallen one that is toying with you all."
  158.
  159. Talking bad was not hard for him when he held contempt for his father. Though he would respond to Ascalons question. Truthfully as he answered all things. He was an honest man. Honest all the way now.
  160.
  161. "I don't seek the fall of my home. I see now that fighting against ya' all just to get back at my father won't do me any good. It will only cause ya' all pain and suffering. Things I don't want to bring upon ya' all. That would make me just like my father."
  162.
  163. "So no, I wouldn't fight. My reasons for doing so now are selfish. Ones that have clouded my judgement. I seek to be a better man than my father. A better man in my eyes anyways. But attacking ya' all won't make me a better man."
  164.
  165. He was talking a lot. Even while injured. Even while in pain, even if it wasn't as severe as things he had dealt with in the past.
  166.
  167. "As I said, doing so would make me just like my father. A selfish man that cares for nobody else. I do not wish to be like that. I might not worship Azrael, or the gods Dawn worships. But I don't fault any of ya' for doing so. I don't desire to be one with the void like my father is either."
  168.
  169. "These are all other reasons I do not wish to go back. Because I do not wish for my father to force me to be like he is. I have seen how people change when he binds them with those chains of his. I do not want to end up like them. But that does not mean that I do not feel bad for what has happened to them either."
  170. (Jun Ultovex)
  171. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  172.
  173. [21:53] "Jun, re-join Dawn. Help me rebuild it to what it could be from the inside. We could both walk back there now. If you'd renounce your defiance publicly you'll be fine."
  174.
  175. As he spoke the Oscuri's gaze shifted from Dawn for the first time. Looking towards the plains below as he awaited an answer. Curious about what Jun would say to the offer to rejoin.
  176.
  177. "You and I both know Akasha won't last long before being sealed again. To many powerful Magi are chasing him. In the world that comes after that Dawn will need those of good hearts to rebuild it."
  178. (Ascalon Zanders)
  179. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  180.
  181. [22:03] "I wish for Dawn to change, yes. But I do not think it is a good idea for me to go back now while my father still reigns. Going back would prevent me from doing things I need to do as well. Important things to grow my strength."
  182.
  183. He wished for Dawn to prosper. He really did but while his father was there he just did not wish to go back. He was not hesitant to go back because of other, the angel even really. But his father. He was the reason. He expected his father to force him to stay now that he had fought.
  184.
  185. "If my father was out of the picture, then I would come back. Change won't happen while he still holds power though. It won't happen while he forces those to bend to his will. To be his servants and slaves."
  186.
  187. "I don't see it changing or me having a chance there while he does that. He is the reason why I am hesitant to come back now. More thanAkasha if that is what they are called."
  188.
  189. Honestly he was getting tired of talking though he would continue for a bit.
  190.
  191. "I propose a deal to ya'. Let me free now and when my father falls? I will come back and do what I can to help reform Dawn so that our people may live better lives without fear of being slaughtered for what we do."
  192.
  193. "Does that sound like something ya' would be willing to do?"
  194. (Jun Ultovex)
  195. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  196.
  197. [22:08] Took a breath, before sitting Jun down. Without a moment's hesitation he'd bring a hand up glowing with Reika. Gripping the chains he'd melt them without hesitation.
  198.
  199. "I'm not going to take you back to an execution. I'd rather not see anymore of my friends die. Flee now but when I call upon your aid I will expect an answer."
  200.
  201. The Oscuri's expression had cooled, it seemed the conversation had finally chiseled away at the hardened exterior he'd built up around his heart. To spare a life today in exchange for aid in the future was something he could accept.
  202. (Ascalon Zanders)
