2003 - The Human Genome Project is complete
2023- Genetically Engineered babies are the hottest fad

Man loves nothing more than to surpass what has come before. To outdo what has come before and step further into the unknown that so surrounds mankind. Deep within all is that primal urge to overcome, to shatter barriers and expand limits no matter how big or small. With the advent of modern technology the human race turned its own eyes inward to see if 'being human' could be improved. Just how precious was purity when it stood in the way of progress? One man would not be stopped by a sense of ethics when there was clearly work that could be done. Yes yes yes using technology for the good of all of mankind was a true blessing, but how does one turn that blessing into a beautiful thing for all? How does one turn the fountain of youth into common tap water? Doctor Obelix was a young man when he 'created' his son. His son was one of the first to be genetically engineered. Less Homo Superior and more Melior Homo. He was made to be perfect, the greatest heir a man could have. Who cared whether or not his on wold be his own person? He was to continue his father's work and carry the Obelix name into the future. Louis Obelix would be the one to tear open Pandora's box.

2040 - M-UNIT is created from splicing of nonhuman DNA into humans

And at the age of twenty he succeeded in creating the first hybrid of man and animal. He is universally panned as the age's new Doctor Moreau and is forced to take his research underground. The first was quickly followed up by second and then third and so on and so on right up until there were six. His work was noticed by the government who quickly took him, and his mutants, into government custody. His program, and the spliced children, was dubbed the M-Unit as in the Mutant Unit. The project moved forward as planned but no more 'mutants' were made. Only six, the youngest would be thirteen when the event happened. That event that changed everything. They were humans after all. Humans may have the urge to surpass and the desire to become better but more than anything else they want to be treated like any other. Even if they were considered little more than freaks of nature by all involved, the six knew what they were. That above all else they were human. They deserved to be treated better. So the oldest came up with a plan to get that respect and to steal their freedom from the oppression of the aging Louis. M-Unit would never again he condemned or confined as freaks of nature and horrific monstrosities that had no right to exist. They would reclaim their lost humanity.
