  1. I did! I don't want to sound harsh, but you're drowning in bias. You were actually on the right track indeed, but then "someone even called it his game of the year!" kicked in. So what I see is the belief that maybe with some tweaks, or maybe it it was a few years ago, or maybe with a bit more luck, the game would be a success. IMO it would not be, ever. It was DOA. It looks like a forgotten iOS game from five years ago, in a genre that is both oversaturated and dead.

  3. I also totally understand I sound like a fucking asshole. You have written a nice article with lots of good thoughts -- all truisms, but by definition true. I don't even have a good explanation, other than a) tweets and their 140 character limit ruin nuance, b) I do have a short fuse when it comes to indies being detached from reality (again, IMO) and expecting that making a decent game for some reason should be enough.
  4.
  5. Truth is, it never was. There were no "golden old days". All indie games that made money were great, unique, pretty -- choose one, two, or all three.
  6.
  7. The amount of games in increasing and it means nothing. There's just more bad games on the market and that's it. If you make a REALLY decent indie game, bar some glitches in the matrix you should be able to make good money on it.
