  1. [12:16:59] <Kain> After a long day of battling pirates, crabs, and sharkbats, and becoming the chosen heroes, they spent their evening relaxing and talking with the Eidolon, Leviathan. After a nice night's rest, the morning sun dawns in, and soon, time to go. But first, by what way will they travel to the Forgotten Continent? By airship, or by sea?
  2. [12:17:37] * Celina does her MORNING EXERCISES before going to meet up with everyone else
  3. [12:18:18] * Natalie clings to Ammy after getting up, CLEARLY not intent on leading. Her servant knows what to do, as always~
  4. [12:18:55] <Theta> Theta can be found passed out in a chair somewhere in the town. He literally just grabbed a stack of books, sat down, started reading, and stayed there until he passed out, open book in his lap and snoring quietly.
  5. [12:19:57] : @Amaryllis leads Nat to check out what the airships heading out of the library-city are like.
  6. [12:20:32] * Celina starts prodding Theta with the haft of her spear. Gooooood morning. :I
  7. [12:21:33] * Natalie clears her throat and carries herself in a very RICH manner while doing so, having gotten all the "nnn" out.
  8. [12:22:09] <Kain> After asking around a bit, you find that the airship leaving this morning is a fairly plain transport model that can carry up to 50 passengers. Rooms, baths, food, but not particularly luxurious.
  9. [12:22:29] <Natalie> "Boring, boring, boring... Oh, that one looks like a- no it's boring."
  10. [12:22:49] <Theta> "aaaa no not yet Mayor we haven't finished test-" he opens his eyes, blink blink. "Oh. What an odd dream." He looks around. "And good morning, I think? It is morning isn't it?"
  11. [12:22:51] <@Amaryllis> "The hydra does sound more exciting, milady."
  12. [12:23:50] <Celina> "Close enough. We're discussing where to go from here, and I believe we'll want your input."
  13. [12:23:53] <Natalie> "Normally I wouldn't be fond of getting drenched like yesterday again, but..." She sighs and WINKS. "I guess it'll have to do for now."
  14. [12:24:54] <@Amaryllis> "Few nobles can lay claim to having made an Eidolon their steed. At least in recent years."
  15. [12:25:17] <Theta> "Right, right, of course." he stacks the books up neatly near him, then follows along. "The Forgotten Continent, was it?"
  16. [12:25:39] <Kain> (By the way, did any of you purchase things from the shop yet?)
  17. [12:25:43] <Natalie> "Then let's go ask for it, shall we?" She's already heading down that way.
  18. [12:25:50] <Natalie> (yeah I got all I wanted)
  19. [12:25:52] <Celina> (nope, I'm running around trying to find 200 more gp ;_;)
  20. [12:25:53] <@Amaryllis> (hrnnnng, deciding whether or not to buy armor)
  21. [12:26:09] <Theta> (Didn't purchase anything yet here.)
  22. [12:26:46] <Natalie> (You could ask to borrow some and pay off your debt as a servant, wink nudge~)
  23. [12:26:56] <Kain> (Well you're in luck because Doppo is giving a discount just for today :V

  34. [12:30:21] <Celina> (Celina is poorasfuck now, let's make the eidolons work for us)
  35. [12:31:01] <Theta> Theta buys a fancy SURVIVAL VEST. (woulda bought Eyes On Me but I can't wear heavy armor anymore <:3c)
  36. [12:31:20] <Theta> Theta also has no strong opinions on where to travel next or how. He seems fairly along for the ride.
  37. [12:31:26] : @Amaryllis does end up buying the freaky eye armor. Nat can keep her cashola for now.
  38. [12:31:47] <@Amaryllis> Buster sword isn't Ammy's style after all.
  39. [12:32:22] <Natalie> Still better to trust Ammy with it, when somebody THIS spoiled princess is allowed to have access to money they inevitably impulse spend it all.
  40. [12:32:55] <Kain> When you don it, you feel an odd sort of sensation as the eyes adorning the armor link up to your own. You can see out of them, if you concentrate. It's sort of distracting, but at the same time it does give you better awareness of what's around you.
  41. [12:33:41] * Natalie drags Ammy on down to Levvie's domain after shopping! She figures the others can make it themselves unless told otherwise.
  42. [12:33:49] : @Amaryllis blinks and looks down. "Strange."
  43. [12:34:10] <Kain> On the way out of the town, Gale and Sirra greet you two.
  44. [12:34:13] <Kain> Er

  46. [12:34:21] * Celina is briefly distracted by MAD BARGAINS but then drags Theta down to levvie's domain.
  47. [12:34:23] <Theta> He promptly tucks the vest under his robes, and follows along with the others, seeming to review notes from the previous day.
  48. [12:34:34] <Kain> Sirra: "Wait just a moment, if you would? You're leaving, aren't you?"
  49. [12:34:51] <Kain> Gale: "We still owe you for earlier, so here."
  50. [12:35:02] <@Amaryllis> "Good morning to you both. We are." Ammy greets them in a flat tone.
  51. [12:35:05] <Natalie> "Well, hello again," Nat greets them in a smug way. "That we are."
  52. [12:35:36] <Kain> Gale glances at Nat, and then walks over to Amaryllis. "This is for all of you." she says, as she hands over a bag.
  53. [12:35:50] <Kain> Got 5 Phoenix Downs!
  54. [12:35:59] <Celina> (oh boyyy)
  55. [12:36:06] <@Amaryllis> (we're gonna need them ;-;)

  60. [12:36:50] <Kain> Gale: "I've been thinking about what you guys did for us, and we've decided that we're going to learn how to fight so we don't get caught in a situation like that again."
  61. [12:36:53] <Natalie> "Oh? You're actually repaying your favor? Well, I certainly can't refuse such a thing, even IF it means you don't owe us favors next time we meet. Until then, I suppose!"
  62. [12:37:02] <Kain> Sirra: "Good luck!"
  63. [12:37:16] <Celina> "Good luck to you, as well."
  64. [12:37:28] <@Amaryllis> "I shall have to hear tales of your travels later then. Best of luck."
  65. [12:37:36] * Natalie smirks. "Do try to study types of magic other than GREEN if you do, I doubt it'll help you much, yes?"
  66. [12:37:55] <Kain> Gale: "Green magic. is not a thing." she half-growls.
  67. [12:37:57] : @Amaryllis turns to distribute the phoenix downs and..."Have any of you seen Lenore?"
  68. [12:37:59] <Kain> Sirra: "But it is!"
  69. [12:38:26] <@Amaryllis> "I suppose she will catch up." She continues handing out the items.
  70. [12:38:30] <Kain> Lenore unexpectedly pops up around this time and cheerfully accompanies the party out.
  71. [12:38:34] * Natalie sticks her tongue out at both of them and runs ahead with a giggle before pausing and twirling around.
  72. [12:38:41] <Celina> "Just about now."
  73. [12:38:46] <Natalie> ... Oh, botting, right.
  74. [12:39:44] <Kain> So, the four*cough*five of you head down to the seashore after leaving town.
  75. [12:39:50] <Celina> "So, how is it that we're supposed to call this thing?"
  76. [12:40:44] <Kain> The waters lap against the shore... and then suddenly, begin to swirl.
  77. [12:40:52] <@Amaryllis> "Leviathan would have made arrangements, I imagine."
  78. [12:41:07] <Natalie> "A-HEM. Do be more respectful, I believe any creature wouldn't be comfortable carrying somebody who sees them as a 'thing.'"
  79. [12:41:35] <Celina> "You wouldn't know respectful if it slapped you in the face, m'lady."
  80. [12:42:09] : @Amaryllis checks her bag idly as the bickering begins. Yup, whiskey bottle still there. As is well in the world.
  81. [12:42:46] <Theta> "It seems as though someone schedule an apointment, yes, yes..."
  82. [12:42:46] <Kain> A whirlpool in the ocean begins to open up! And out of it rises... a small boat! Well, it's finely made, at least, and carved to resemble a dragon with its figurehead somewhat. The front of the boat seems to have an odd attachment of chains that drop into the water.
  83. [12:42:46] <Natalie> "Oh dear," she sarcastically gasps. "Well then! At least be careful to stay dry during the ride. I absolutely can't STAND the smell of wet rat."
  84. [12:43:07] <Celina> "Speaking of the ride, I believe our storyteller will have things to tell you all."
  85. [12:43:41] <@Amaryllis> "We don't get to ride the hydra itself?" Ammy's flat expression breaks into a look of disappointment.
  86. [12:43:51] * Natalie gets sparklyeyes! She's already glad to not be on a generic airship.
  87. [12:44:13] <Kain> And then you hear it. "SYLLLLLLLDRAAAAAAAAAA-" is what you swear the roar that pierces the air sounds like, as an enormous head peeks out of the water.
  88. [12:44:16] <@Amaryllis> "...I will?" Ammy gives Celina a quizzical look. "We were not given much direction by Leviathan."
  89. [12:44:20] <@Amaryllis> (oh god it's a pokemon)
  90. [12:44:46] * Celina stares
  91. [12:44:50] <Kain> Aaand it turns to look at you all.

  96. [12:46:10] <@Kain> The waters calm and the boat floats there, chained to the creature. You can sort of see its huge body just below the surface of the water.
  97. [12:46:21] <Natalie> "Enough bickering, let's make haste. It wouldn't do to dawdle, would it?"
  98. [12:46:32] * Natalie leaps into the boat~
  99. [12:46:43] <@Kain> It looks at you with some curiosity, and offers its neck for anyone that wants to ride up front.
  100. [12:46:47] <@Kain> Else, it's into the boat.
  101. [12:47:21] : Amaryllis climbs onto Syldra, looking back to make sure Nat got in the boat fine.
  102. [12:47:25] * Theta scratches his head. "It intends to pull us? Hrm...alright then." Into the boat
  103. [12:47:34] <Natalie> Oh, yeah, she definitely ponders for a bit before leaping from the boat ONTO the creature, presuming nobody else takes the off- oh.
  104. [12:47:45] <@Kain> There's enough room :V
  105. [12:48:00] : Amaryllis offers Nat a hand up.
  106. [12:48:17] * Natalie takes it and hops up then!
  107. [12:48:19] <@Kain> The two spotlight hogs occupy the hydra's neck while the other three pile into the boat. It's nice, all things considered.
  108. [12:48:21] * Celina leaps into the crow's nest. FUCKING DRAGOONS
  109. [12:49:01] <Celina> "Well, don't you think everyone else should know about what we've learned?" She yells down after that.
  110. [12:49:29] <@Kain> The ship is at least dry, and once you GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S NECK you discover that he isn't as slippery as you'd imagine
  111. [12:49:51] <Natalie> "We'll have a long ride to share tales! And I'd hope we did that anyway, I get bored during long trips."
  112. [12:50:26] <Amaryllis> "Of course." Ammy opens her journal and begins flipping through the pages.
  113. [12:50:31] * Natalie turns back forward, patting the hydra. "I do appreciate your service. Whenever you're ready."
  114. [12:50:32] <Theta> "Erm, yes. Things. Just what things?"
  115. [12:50:39] <@Kain> Once you're all aboard, Syldra lets out another cry and begins towing the boat out to sea.
  116. [12:51:36] <Natalie> Nat actually plops down right at the head and watches the water with sparkly eyes as they move, turning back to the others only occasionally.
  117. [12:51:41] <@Kain> This is an excellent time to discuss the things you talked with Leviathan about if you like
  118. [12:51:52] * Celina enjoys the view from the place geometrically furthest from the Eidolon.
  119. [12:53:04] <Amaryllis> "From the crystal we came and to it do we all return." Ammy steadies herself on Syldra's neck as she pulls out the crystal from her bag.
  120. [12:54:18] <Natalie> "So where exactly are we headed first, again? Is our destination still uncomfortably vague?"
  121. [12:54:38] <Amaryllis> "It is the tale of tales, of the memories, stories, and collected legends of Gaia. From it we rise to birth, and through life collect the memories that make our story. And when we die to it we return. However."
  122. [12:54:53] <Amaryllis> "Ours is not the only crystal."
  123. [12:55:00] * Celina is already regretting asking Amaryllis to explain.
  124. [12:55:18] <Natalie> "Ohhh." Interruptions won't do. Natalie excitedly whirly around and listens.
  125. [12:55:23] * Theta nods. "Of course, it is but a fraction of it."
  126. [12:56:19] <Amaryllis> "As we are all fated to die and be reborn, so are the crystals and hence entire worlds."
  127. [12:56:45] <Amaryllis> "Terra."
  128. [12:56:53] <Celina> "Why don't you tell them the parts we actually learned last night?" Celina yells down.
  129. [12:56:57] <@Kain> A familiar word to Theta.
  130. [12:57:19] <@Kain> Even the crystal's ramblings aside
  131. [12:57:26] <Theta> "Terra. I know of this place, yes."
  132. [12:57:42] <Amaryllis> "...Would you prefer to take over then, lady Celina?" Ammy sighs, not enjoying the interruption.
  133. [12:57:49] <Celina> "If you'd like me to."
  134. [12:58:37] * Celina climbs down.
  135. [12:58:47] : Amaryllis continues. "Terra. A last cry from a dying people, they sought to bring their crystal to others, to make them one. They failed and from their hubris comes our own tragedy." She traces the edges of the crystal with a finger.
  136. [12:59:34] <Amaryllis> "Their legacy yet remains on our world."
  137. [12:59:49] <Natalie> "Do you simply PRIDE yourself on constantly being as rude as you can possibly be?" Nat glares at the rat, nodding at the storyteller to continue.
  138. [13:00:01] <@Kain> Syldra swims on, silent.
  139. [13:00:12] <@Kain> It doesn't appear this particular eidolon talks.
  140. [13:00:26] <Celina> "I pride myself on being efficient."
  141. [13:01:01] <Natalie> "Complaining is hardly efficient, and we're in no rush."
  142. [13:01:10] <Amaryllis> "Then we shall be left with a long and silent ride afterwards." Ammy looks up again, clearly irked.
  143. [13:01:27] <Celina> "Better than falling asleep in the middle of it."
  144. [13:01:57] * Celina plops down cross-legged on the deck.
  145. [13:02:15] <Natalie> "You're free to sleep at the bottom of the ocean if you'd rather not listen. It's just over yonder," she points.
  146. [13:02:36] <Natalie> "Amaryllis, please do go on."
  147. [13:02:43] <Celina> "Ah, but I thought you hated the smell of wet rat."
  148. [13:03:09] * Theta scribble scribbles with a very poor poker face.
  149. [13:03:33] <Natalie> "I wouldn't plan on being in proximity to smell once you're far enough overboard. Now stop interrupting, I'm trying to listen."
  150. [13:03:54] * Celina actually isn't sure how rats into crosslegs so she just stretches her legs out instead. :B
  151. [13:04:01] <Amaryllis> "It is this legacy of Terra, the destroyed world, that I suspect we seek on this continent. Leviathan had no more direction to offer us." Ammy finishes quickly, visibly not really in the storytelling zone anymore. "Theta, you know of Terra?" She steps up and offers him the crystal, as if passing a talking stick.

  153. [13:04:55] <Natalie> "Yes, let's hear Sir Zeta's story now, I feel he hasn't talked enough."
  154. [13:05:06] <Theta> He looks over, scoops it up. "I am told it is where we originated from, my kind, that is. I do not remember it well, though."
  155. [13:06:11] * Natalie flops down on THE HYDRA'S BACK and lazily watches the ocean go by, listening but not content looking at the others anymore.
  156. [13:07:18] <Theta> "There is only so much to say. Most my memories are of the village I am from here, on Gaia. Things before I awoke with awareness of well, myself, are hazy." He looks over the crystal thoughtfully.
  157. [13:07:33] : Amaryllis listens in silence, expectant eyes and ears on Theta soaking it all in.
  158. [13:08:46] <Natalie> "Oh, so you don't remember your entire life then? How interesting." It's hard to tell whether that's sarcastic or genuine.

  170. [13:12:10] <Theta> "Since my awakening, as I said yesterday, I have spent most my time assisting to research the unfortionate circumstances of our black mage breathren. Why it is that we live a full life but they cannot sustain themselves."

  174. [13:13:57] <Kaingaskhan> The clouds overhead begin to darken, rain is likely on the way.
  175. [13:14:15] <Natalie> "And you just couldn't find worthwhile information in the City of Boredom, yes? I think most of us encountered that problem."
  176. [13:14:21] <Amaryllis> "They were created for war and death, and you were created for life." Ammy offers up a theory, interjecting quietly so as not to disrupt Theta's story too much.
  177. [13:14:39] <Natalie> "... Oh." Terrified blue eyes stare up to the sky.
  178. [13:15:20] * Celina has the decency not to comment.
  179. [13:15:52] <Theta> "Their purpose is their own. The knowledge to create them CAME from our world. But that is really not...the point." He looks to Nat.
  180. [13:16:03] <Amaryllis> "And so they were written into a fleeting role, short lives compared to your people's tales of quiet desperation."
  181. [13:16:44] <Theta> "Quite honestly I am not sure why the Mayor chose such a location! This was all rather a surprise to me. One second we were in a meeting and the next I landed on top of Miss Elizabeth." He seems to recall something. "Oh dear I never said my partings to her."
  182. [13:16:47] * Natalie is lying down on the Syldra, kinda leaning on it.
  183. [13:17:17] <Kaingaskhan> As the droplets come down, they seem to scatter over the boat, falling to either side, leaving you all dry.
  184. [13:17:19] : Amaryllis unclasps her cloak and wraps it around Nat in anticipation of the rain.
  185. [13:17:35] : Amaryllis then feels kinda silly.
  186. [13:17:36] <Natalie> "Well, you've certainly proven yourself an interesting sort. I do wish you luck in learning something."
  187. [13:18:24] * Natalie looks up to Ammy and laughs, giving her some time to feel silly before handing the cloak back. She turns to face forward.
  188. [13:18:27] <Theta> "All I can say for now is it is my task to learn what I can for the betterment of my home, and to continue research on my prototype."
  189. [13:18:30] <Kaingaskhan> Lenore's been quiet all this time, listening, though her attention briefly focuses on the storm with some curiosity.
  190. [13:18:34] * Celina looks up and watches the rain part above them.
  191. [13:18:54] <Amaryllis> "Prototype?"
  192. [13:19:13] <Natalie> "Thank you," she pats the creature again but doesn't speak loudly or anything.
  193. [13:19:25] <Kaingaskhan> "SYLLLLLDRAAAAAAA"
  194. [13:19:40] : Amaryllis takes the cloak back and wraps it around herself tightly.
  195. [13:20:28] <Natalie> Re-PLOP. She stares up at the rain instead of the ocean now, content with the Hydra's attitude.
  196. [13:20:51] <Celina> "Shall I discuss the eidolons, now?"
  197. [13:21:43] <Amaryllis> "If you wish." Short, clipped words. Ammy gestures at the crystal.
  198. [13:22:00] <Natalie> "Do, please! I'd appreciate it if you could leave out squeaks and other rat-noises while doing so, if that isn't too much effort."
  199. [13:22:01] <Theta> "I...proposed a hypothesis for a possible attempt at prolonging the life spans of the mages, is what I mean, but yes I would rather not bore you with such details."
  200. [13:22:36] <Amaryllis> "I would enjoy hearing about that actually."
  201. [13:22:57] <Celina> "I would appreciate it if you left your inbred meanderings out of your speech, but perhaps only one of us will be lucky today."
  202. [13:23:38] <Natalie> "Knowledge is knowledge. The only time it's boring is when it's something the listener already knows, wouldn't you agree?" She sticks her tongue out at Celina again but doesn't add anything.

  204. [13:24:11] <Celina> "In any case, Leviathan was bound to the Queen of Alexandria at the time when that Qu summoned him - meaning that the Qu was strong enough to rip him away from his summoner, but not strong enough to control him - interesting, is it not? We should be on our guard."
  205. [13:24:56] * Theta shoots Celina a very offended look and promptly shuts up, turning his attention to the sky instead.
  206. [13:25:22] <Celina> "And perhaps we will be lucky enough to find out how." Does Celina notice? NOEP.

  208. [13:25:58] <Kaingaskhan> (Unless he's being offended by being interrupted)
  209. [13:26:13] * Natalie yawns. "That's exactly what I was referring to. Wasn't it painfully obvious that the Qu wasn't a summoner already?"
  210. [13:27:26] <Celina> "Perhaps you would like to enlighten us all on how it was done, then?"
  211. [13:27:47] <Natalie> "If not for the crystal I'd be content telling the Queen herself the dire news, perhaps earning a dinner in the royal court or somesuch. But that isn't our focus at the moment."
  212. [13:28:56] <Natalie> "Let's leave it at 'he was extraordinarily hungry' for now, I'd like to hear more of Sir Beta's tale."
  213. [13:29:14] <Celina> "I'm pretty sure that the Queen herself - Theta, you loathsome human being - is fully aware."
  214. [13:29:27] * Natalie waves Celina off with her foot. Yeah, actually.
  215. [13:30:19] <Amaryllis> "Eidolons are creatures composed of story, and stories are bound by their own narrative rules and logic. Whatever force compelled Leviathan to appear must be similar to that which compels Eidolons to obey their summoners. But yes, I would like to hear of this prototype."
  216. [13:33:17] <Kaingaskhan> At this moment... there's a flash of light, and a bolt of lightning arcs down from the clouds, hitting a patch of ocean only meters away, followed very shortly by a huge CRACKATHOOM.

  309. [13:58:36] <Kaingaskhan> The sheer cliffs of the Forgotten Continent greet you, and though no seashore exists to deposit you at, thankfully a small port built into the cliffs comes into view, a convenience stop for those who still use normal seaboats to travel the ocean.
  310. [13:59:04] <Natalie> "Regardless, we were in no state to handle combat as we were in a worst-case scenario, and investigating would be dangerous in any form. We should count our blessings to have not been attacked."

  317. [14:01:29] <Kaingaskhan> Syldra arrives at the docks, built at the very bottom of the cliffs, and lets you all off. The workers hanging about look with wonder at the eidolon-towed boat. Normally ships use sails, but this was certainly faster.

  319. [14:02:04] * Celina hesitates, then gingerly pats Syldra on the neck before hopping off, shaking her hand like she got it in something foul.

Aside from the usual potions, ethers, antidotes, etc they stock a good bit of food, some clothing, no weapons or armor though. Ribbons? Sure. It's really kind of a general store. A moogle hangs out in the corner, staring at a fuzzy nut on display.

  495. [15:23:10] <Kaingaskhan> The plains stretch out ahead, wide and open before reaching the mountains. Curious landscape, this continent. A lot of it seems dry and barren, but the occasional forest dots the horizon.
  496. [15:23:54] <Kaingaskhan> The lot of you see cactuars popping up and down out of the dirt, and in the distance what looks like a tiny ship on legs scuttles towards destinations unknown.

  569. [15:40:52] : Amaryllis briefly wonders if it's gonna be a problem that her armor is covered with eyes. She averts her gaze and waits for the thing to pass by.
