  1. Prompt: #11 Snow
  2. Hilda/Lysithea
  3.
  4. -
  5.
  6.
  7. When she is awake by the time her body prompted her to, she is tucked safely inside the bed still. Light is filtering from the closed curtain, it was dull white yet Lysithea knew that it is not a morning sun. Or to be precise, morning has passed long ago, and she saw it pass.
  8.
  9. Every time she stayed home because of fever or her worst case of anemia acting up, she would dare to move too much from the bed unless she felt that her power is finally coming back. Over the course of time, too, as people coming and going into her life, they will worry, and Lysithea could only say to them that she is managing—it has been an integral part of her life to be weak at times.
  10.
  11. Lysithea turned to the other side of the bed, finding the other occupant has yet to be home. She found herself sighing to her pillow; even the warmth of the person has dissipated when she needed the most.
  12.
  13. Red eyes stared to their empty room, to its mountains of things left and right, to the slightly open door, then back to the ceiling, waiting her gaze to focus.
  14.
  15. She can at least manage to move to the couch at the living room, Lysithea mused, and maybe tried to make something warm for herself to drink after regaining more strength.
  16.
  17. Lysithea was no longer wearing a pajama, Hilda should’ve changed it for her in the morning before she went out but she doesn’t have any recollection of it. She is wearing warmer knit sweater of dark grey and oversized pants with pink cartoon bunny prints on it. Also Hilda added in a shawl wrap - pink, Hilda’s favorite color, and it is exactly smells like Hilda.
  18.
  19. The analog clock by the center room of their shared studio apartment said 5:30 PM, Hilda would be back around 7, and presumably shopping ingredients for dinner too as Lysithea couldn’t do it today.
  20.
  21. Dropping herself to a couch felt like it’s quite a work already. There was no headache. She is no longer feel queasy. It is another step for her to finally up to her feet and do something. But she needed a pause. No need to rush. Lysithea stopped to sit and wrapped herself with the warm pink garment. Her head lulled to the back rest, though she remained sitting instead of lying down.
  22.
  23. If Hilda saw her like that, she must be commented that she looked like an angry but dreary burrito. Additionally, if Lysithea have enough power to bite back, she would reply with a sarcastic remark.
  24.
  25. Lysithea was only noticed by then that outside, the whiteness completely engulfed their window way. The white-haired woman didn’t remember any snow yesterday when she is back from work late, so it should only be snowing just now or maybe from the time in the morning.
  26.
  27. She closed her eyes, trying to recall of anything. Only to think back when Hilda said some cheesy pickup lines when they were eating at night. Lysithea groaned inwardly, though she dismissed quickly with a sigh.
  28.
  29. At the time like this, somehow her heart ached; of longing for someone to be close, of waiting for someone to be back. While she knew all too well that it is only a hassle to know someone is worrying constantly about you, there will be a part of her heart that contradict the statement.
  30.
  31. As though her subconscious plea has been heard, Lysithea sensed warmer arms wrapped around her neck like a scarf. She opened her eyes, wondering whether she had fallen asleep and didn’t notice that Hilda is already home. Hilda is lounging from the back of the sofa, her bag of grocery and her other handbag just spilled there on the floor.
  32.
  33. On the normal basis, Lysithea would scold her for being untidy, but she let it slide for today. Just today.
  34.
  35. “… Why are you here?” Hilda asked in a gentle whisper. She bumped their heads together, Hilda did most of the snuggling while Lysithea simply hung her head low, still weak. The pinkette was so warm, it is a nice feeling.
  36.
  37. “Did you miss me so much and want to wait for me here?”
  38.
  39. Yes, I do. “No. I’m … thirsty.”
  40.
  41. “Aww, you could lie to make it sound more romantic~” she said.
  42.
  43. Lysithea groaned her reply. “Hilda.”
  44.
  45. “Then, what do you want to drink, then? I can grab you anything.”
  46.
  47. “… You.”
  48.
  49. Hilda gave her an incredulous look. Lysithea didn’t want to repeat herself, it was such an embarrassing request.
  50.
  51. “I mean,” Lysithea lowered her head. “Can you give me a kiss? It’s … snowing outside. It’s cold.”
  52.
  53. She was sure she could hear a chortle coming from Hilda, but she was failed to know what expression that the pinkette was making. Hilda is quick to make a recovery from her flabbergasted state, but it’s not like Lysithea never saw Hilda when she is vulnerable.
  54.
  55. “You sure are spoiled today, huh, princess?” Hilda attempted a sneer. It failed. Her cheeks just blossomed, and her teasing sneer was fallen to a mere nervous smirk. “I guess it can’t be helped.”
  56.
  57. Hilda craned her head lower to reach for Lysithea’s lips, loosening the grip of her initial embrace but Lysithea didn’t lose any warmth.
  58.
  59. They kept on tangled, the snow is falling still behind their backs, and they enjoyed the evening with warming each other up in a comfortable wintry silence.
