48. A race of non-corporeal, parasitic aliens who go from planet to planet looking for hosts have come to Earth and basically taken over the human race. It's believed that, once inside a body, all memories of the host human are gone. Some few free humans remain hidden from them, forming a resistance group. When an alien Seeker captures a girl named Melanie and puts a Wanderer in her body, she hopes to find out where the remaining humans are gathered, but Melanie, a strong fighter able to converse with the alien in her commandeered body, convinces the Wanderer to say nothing. Disappointed by the lack of progress (though suspecting an empathy for the human), the Seeker informs the Wanderer that she'll be removed and placed in a new host while she herself will enter Melanie. With human lives at risk, Melanie convinces Wanderer to run away and hide out with the humans, but finding them doesn't mean they'll allow an alien presence among them. Jared (Melanie's boyfriend) wants her dead, but Jeb (Melanie's uncle) wants to wait, and Ian, tasked with guarding her, finds himself siding with Jeb. As Ian begins to fall for Melanie, a strange love triangle develops, with Ian wanting Wanderer (inhabiting Melanie's body), Jared wanting Melanie (imprisoned inside her own body), and no one knowing any way to separate the two without killing both.
 49. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.
 50. I went into this movie without knowing anything beyond the 'body- snatching' premise. What I got from watching it, is that this movie never really developed a sense of what it wanted to be. Alien horror like Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Chase suspense like the Bourne movies or Blade Runner? Tweener pulp like Hunger Games or Twilight?

I hadn't seen The Lovely Bones in ages, and didn't realize this girl was the same one from that. What brought TLB to mind was the incessant narrative while the human girl was arguing inside the creature girl's mind. I still got lost from time to time, even though when the creature was supposed to be expositing she'd move her mouth and actually talk while the human girl's voice was only in her head. Ultimately, I realized I didn't care enough about what they were saying to try to figure out who was saying what.

Basically what you're left with is a weak, annoying, and boring Frankenstein's monster made up of parts and premises of much better movies, yet failing to capture any of the interesting points of any of them. For obvious teenie flicks like Twilight I always keep in mind that I'm not the intended demographic so I'll like it less than the audience it's intended for, but The Host was such a big nothing that I wasn't even sure if it deserved to be cut any slack.
 51. Let us establish some facts here 1)The host is not twilight 2) Saoirse Ronan is not Kristen Stewart and 3) (Melanie / Wanda), well we can argue that point, is Bella 3.0t. If I had seen this movie first i would have definitely liked it more than twilight. I love the psychological play in the movie, i liked the story, but I really really really loved Saoirse Ronan in that role. She played it marvelously well, and the director did a great job portraying her two personalities. I can't tell you what it was missing yet; I am not getting payed for this so i am allowed to not know. I encourage you to see it, I was pleasantly surprised. It is a solid 7/10 for me.
 52. An invasion of the body snatchers is preferable to realizing that the true horror perpetrated here is not on the characters but on the audience.
