  10. It is not about whether a claim is true or false. It is all about *how* the claim is presented to the audience *in the first place*.

  14. The way claims are presented enables the story tellers to present lies as truth that will be accepted as truth by enough of the population. Some will always refuse to believe - just as they will refuse to believe yesterday's sports results.

  18. I'll try to help you out with another analogy.

  22. Suppose you told a friend about a wonderful holiday you went on. Suppose you tell him about 10 "factual" things you did on that holiday. Such as you went skiing, such as you went to a bar, such as you got drunk, such as you met an attractive woman. Etc.

  26. Now suppose of the 10 things you told him 9 were true but 1 was false (that the woman was attractive when really she was ugly).

  30. Suppose you have are in possession of proof for 9 of the things you told him but obviously you cannot have proof for the 10th item because it was a lie - the woman was not attractive.

  34. If you showed him photos and video of the 9 things that sufficiently proved you were telling the truth then an expectation can form for seeing sufficient proof about the claim of an attractive woman.

  38. If he sees undeniable photos and video of 9 claims but not the 10th - it risks standing out.

  42. He can more easily notice that you don't have a photo or video of the claim about the woman being attractive. Your friend might wonder "I was shown video of him skiing, of him getting drunk, of him at the bar but where is any evidence he met an attractive woman?"

  46. Thus if you intended to lie about meeting an attractive woman it would not be wise to prove all of your other claims. Surely you can grasp this profoundly simple point.

  50. Now suppose you are an intelligent liar and wish to lie about having met an attractive woman. How might you go about it?

  54. If you understand human psychology then you may realise that *if you never show sufficient proof for any of your claims* then your friend is unlikely to have any expectation of seeing it.

  58. (Otherwise he would have been suspicious of you long ago and stopped being your friend.)

  62. For your friend to suddenly doubt the woman was attractive (because you did not show sufficient proof for it) *would mean he could doubt all nine other things* (because they also lacked sufficient proof).

  66. That's because the 9 truthful things were presented in the same way as the 1 lie.

  70. But he's your friend so why would he think you'd lie to him? That makes no sense. *He trusts you* otherwise he would not be your friend.

  74. His being your friend "feels like a free choice" to him. He may even at times rely on you. _Why on God's beautiful flat Earth_ would he ever think you'd lie to him?

  78. And why would he ever think you'd lie about something so seemingly silly?

  82. But you're not doing this for just the holiday. You're presenting everything to your friend in this manner. Over the years you would have told your friend many fascinating stories. *And every single time you never showed him anything that necessarily proved a single claim*.

  86. Your friend doesn't even realise you are doing this intentionally. He certainly doesn't realise that you are doing it just to be able to lie to him whenever it is desired or required.

  90. If one day your friend decides to question you about one of your claims - ANY of your claims - then it would mean unravelling. It would risk a mental breakdown. It would risk plummeting into the depths of paranoia. Why? Because he would suddenly realise that you could have been lying about EVERYTHING.

  94. He has no way to know WHAT was true and what was a lie. Because ALL of your claims can be equally doubted. *But he knows that surely they can't all be lies*. Because you have told many true things - and they are things he knows are true - so he is left in a state of confusion.

  98. Besides - your friend believes that people are either "good" or "bad". That "liars don't tell the truth - they always lie". And since he knows you have told the truth (but can't prove it) he does not think of you as a bad person. After all - he reasons that a bad person would never drive him to work when his car has broken down etc.

  102. This person has been trained to be lied to. The intelligent liar trains his or her victims to accept claims in the same way. When one claim is accepted in that way - all other claims are accepted in that way (provided the claim is "accepted as possible" and can be "imagined true").

  106. Genuinely intelligent liars know that to be *successful* liars they must *always* lie. But always lying is too obvious! So genuinely intelligent liars will present truth to the people around them *in the same form one of their lies would need to take*. That way they can lie with ease and if anyone challenges them then people will stick up for them and say "oh yeah - and is he lying about X and Y as well?!"

  110. Genuinely intelligent liars surround themselves with people who possess the necessary thinking flaws that make them vulnerable to this form of "deceit".

  114. In the same way the population is trained from birth to accept truth in the same form as a lie - thus making it unable to recognise when a lie has been presented as truth.
