49. Jeff Talley, a former LAPD hostage negotiator, has moved himself away from his failed career outside of Los Angeles, and away from his wife and daughter when three perpetrators move in on an unsuspecting family. But the family's father has a secret which might compromise his kin, and one of the criminals is about to jump over the edge. Jeff Talley has to get everybody to survive the night......if he can.
 50. Haunted by his failure to save a child from a suicidal madman, hostage negotiator Jeff Tally leaves Los Angeles to become police chief of upscale suburb Bristo Camino. But the ghosts of Tally's previous field come back to haunt him when two brothers and their mysterious traveling companion Mars Krupchek take a suburbanite family hostage after a failed robbery. Unbenknownst to the gunmen, their hostage is actually a numbers runner for West Coast kingpin Sonny Benza, and the house contains evidence that put him away. Facing heat from associates in New York, Benza kidnaps Tally's wife and daughter and blackmails him into procuring the incriminating evidence. But the situation escalates even further when Tally discovers that Mars is a serial killer who is eyeing the hostages, and possibly his accomplices, to be his next victims.
 51. Awesome movie dude it is a bomb i have already seen it six times and counting!!! Go see this movie dude!! It made it in to my top ten movie of all time which include: braveheart, gladiator, saving private Ryan, kill bill 1/2, and more!! Willis is the man!!! Jeff Talley just wants to escape. As an LAPD hostage negotiator, he's shell-shocked when a seemingly routine negotiation with a hostage taker ends in the death of an innocent mother and her little boy. The trauma causes him to pack his bags and trade in his high-stress responsibilities for a small-town police chief's badge in Ventura County.

He has to kiss peaceful goodbye, though, when grand theft auto turns into a full-blown standoff with Talley's squad at a hilltop mansion. Three teenage delinquents are responsible for the ruckus. But there's another problem: The house, owned by a crooked accountant with mafia connections, contains an irreplaceable DVD with financial information so valuable the mob kidnaps and threatens to kill Talley's wife and daughter if he doesn't retrieve it for them.

With county cops swarming the complex, the good guy now has to do a bad, bad thing. Is there any way out of this mess?

all in all this is the movie for you!! Don't take your little dudes under 10. See ya there!!
 52. A good movie has to wrap up with some satisfaction, and that is the crux of the matter with this loser. Even the first 3/4 can't save it from it's ultimate doom--just another shoot 'em up, burn 'em up, blow 'em up Hollywood waste of time.

What's starts out as an intriguing character-based thriller, ends with a preposterous and over-blown ending, completely blowing any attachments that the viewer may have developed with the characters as the movie unfolded. Even the potential plot intrigues were as mutilated as many of the characters in the end.

It's one of those movies where it's good enough to keep you interested enough to stay till the end, but then leaves you wondering why you wasted the time.

Maybe they hired someone else to finish the movie? Ran out of money? Changed producers mid-stream? Might be good re-make material someday.
 53. My new theory is that Willis' own aesthetic soul is more old-world than he knows, and that he works best with directors who either are (Luc Besson) or might as well be (M. Night Shyamalan) European.
