  1. [22:49] Kofe sat down on the piano bench. It probably was the better spot for this, in fact. He hadn't thought about it before but now it seemed to be all too clear. He didn't seem all that... happy, or glad to even be having this conversation. Hell, he looked serious, even. It wasn't like him.
  2.
  3. "We need to talk about what happened in here. Years ago. When you heard about the magibane being used on Edelaide."
  4. (Kofe)
  5. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6.
  7. [22:51] Her head tilted as she watched Kofe sit at the piano. There, Ophelia's gentle smile faded just slightly, cerulean eyes eventually narrowing.
  8.
  9. "... What about it?"
  10. (Ophelia Soleis)
  11. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  12.
  13. [22:54] "The way I reacted." He said, letting that thought linger on, allowing Ophelia to understand where his focus was. "I want to explain... why. And what happened to me in that moment."
  14.
  15. His eyes shifted away from Ophelia's own, falling upon the piano, the keys, intermingling white and black perfectly. A small smile tugged his lips upwards. "I've been struggling to tell anyone this for a long, long time. The only other person who knows about it... is Edelaide."
  16. (Kofe)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [22:56] Ophelia seemingly relaxed, before she moved to a stool to take a seat. Finally, she gestured for him,
  20.
  21. "Then go on... Explain. I'm all ears."
  22. (Ophelia Soleis)
  23. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  24.
  25. [23:09] Kofe nodded to her. He wanted to tell her about it, to tell her all. To explain to Ophelia just... how he felt, and why. It wasn't something that could be put into words quite easily, no. There was ambiguity in the way that people said things, meanings that could be taken in a manner that wasn't true to it, feelings that couldn't be felt.
  26.
  27. This... This was something the Kofe had been working on for a long, long time. Something that had spurred when they first stumbled upon a Nethradin who wouldn't be charmed by his songs, who wouldn't listen to the tune that played from his fingertips. It couldn't understand him. It was... a monster, by all means. This wasn't something that he'd easily accomplish, or that he'd ever heard anyone able to accomplish. But right now?
  28.
  29. Right now, Kofe felt as if he could get through to Ophelia. He was ready. His pride was wounded, his honor damaged from the Wraith's attack. The weight on his shoulders of this wedding, of this peace, of Helheim. It all pressed down upon him, heavy.
  30.
  31. He needed to take a load off.
  32.
  33. He drew in a deep breath.
  34. His fingers hit the keys, gently so. A melody began echoing across the room, one that may just confuse Ophelia at first. A lower note reverberated with the pain in Kofe's heart, making his emotions much more clear. Each and every note of this melody brought along a new bit of information, a new feeling, a new sensation. This fear wasn't focused at Ophelia, but rather at himself. From within that deep, deep fear was born a shine, a spark of despair that had him reaching for the stars above. His spirit was tugging onto Iberl, hoping that it would save him.
  35.
  36. Save him from himself.
  37.
  38. Those notes, this tune was transmitting every piece of that towards the woman who had seemingly scared the living shit out of one of her friends by showing her darker side.
  39.
  40. Eventually the music picked up, Kofe's fingers sank deeper into the piano as his heart's true torment came rushing out. It spoke right to the other's heart, telling her everything.
  41.
  42. I was afraid of you losing control.
  43. Because I know how it feels to lose control.
  44. The battle.
  45. The rush.
  46. The dance, this violent dance.
  47.
  48. Chords were struck with insane precision, fifths and sevenths mingling in unison while Kofe told more to Ophelia about himself through this melody alone, hoping that his heart would reach her, that his thoughts would connect.
  49.
  50. Be yourself. That's what she told me.
  51. Myself scares me.
  52. I lose control.
  53. I hurt people.
  54. I can't stop this rush.
  55. Fear. Scared. I was afraid that you would be hurt.
  56. I was afraid you would leave a scar.
  57. Upon yourself.
  58.
  59. Thirds followed, mellowing out the melody as it took a faster pace. Enticing, enchanting, but all that equally terrifying. His lips thined as sweat began crawling down his back. It was exhausting to pour himself out this way, but he had to get it to her. To get that message across. To speak... with his heart.
  60.
  61. Don't hurt yourself Ophelia.
  62. I'm here Ophelia.
  63. I'm here Ophelia.
  64. I'll always be here, Ophelia.
  65.
  66. A sudden drop. A sudden, loud, heartfelt smashing of the keys. This was it.
  67. The end of a performance.
  68. The end of a message.
  69. The end of his thoughts.
  70.
  71. Would it reach her?
  72.
  73. ... He hoped it would reach her.
  74. (Kofe)
  75. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  76.
  77. [23:26] Ophelia sat in the stool and allowed Kofe to play those notes. At first, they made very little sense to her, and she seemed altogether confused by him simply playing the piano and not speaking.
  78.
  79. He wanted to talk to her, didn't he?
  80.
  81. But then something hit her, the way the music picked up and Kofe's fingers moved across the keys with precision. The story, the confession - the words.... They all reached her, through that music.
  82.
  83. Ophelia's head tilted curiously, as the melody itself took on an even faster pace, and it was only once it was over and done with did she decide to speak.
  84.
  85. "... I won't leave hurt myself, Kofe. I'm quite alright - honest." She said softly, holding up a hand, "But you kept that inside of you for a long, long while. Why...?"
  86. (Ophelia Soleis)
  87. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  88.
  89. [23:31] Perhaps words had their use, too. He was far, far too exhausted to play another piece for her, really, but... Now his words would serve to assist, to join in with those notes he played, to clarify.
  90.
  91. As a storyteller does with a story. What a book cannot tell.
  92.
  93. "Because people keep telling me that I'm different. That I'm not like the others. That.. I don't have that anger and that rage. But it's all there. The thrill of battle? It's there. When I follow my instincts I reach a point where I don't listen to reason and logic. I nearly hurt Edelaide on the beach when she was underneath me. The only difference between me and the other Rhoynish?
  94.
  95. I just know how to hide it well."
  96.
  97. A notion that Ophelia would surely be familiar with. He had seen her at her worst, and feared it was the same as he was.
  98.
  99. Just how was he at his worst?
  100. (Kofe)
  101. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  102.
  103. [23:35] Ophelia Soleis asks, "...... Does it feel normal for you to hide it?"
  104. [23:36] Kofe says, ".. It does."
  105. [23:36] Kofe says, "Hide it. Contain it. Don't let it show."
  106. [23:36] Kofe says, "Because if I do? I would have killed allies. Friends. People I care about."
  107. [23:38] Ophelia Soleis asks, "Do you think you'd be able to continue to do so?"
  108. [23:38] Kofe asks, "Hiding it?"
  109. [23:39] Kofe says, "I think I can."
  110. [23:39] Kofe says, "I think.. there are people that make it worth it."
  111. [23:39] Kofe says, "Even if it has to come out sometimes. Even if I have to walk off on my own to let some steam off."
  112. [23:39] Kofe asks, "If I can maintain it?"
  113. [23:40] Kofe says, "I'm happier."
  114. [23:41] Kofe's gaze shifted towards Ophelia. An important question was asked, one that the Rhoynish would normally answer for himself, but right now? He wanted to see how she felt, not what he saw and believed to be true.
  115.
  116. "Do you think it's the same for you, or is your smile but a lie like Jury and Judge's?"
  117. (Kofe)
  118. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  119.
  120. [23:46] She thought on that briefly.
  121.
  122. "Not all the time, no."
  123. (Ophelia Soleis)
  124. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  125.
  126. [23:48] Kofe asks, "Do you think you're only yourself sometimes or all the time?"
  127. [23:55] Ophelia Soleis says, "All the time."
  128. [23:55] Kofe says, "That's good."
  129. [23:56] Kofe shifted around on the piano bench to face Ophelia, a soft smile on his lips grew as he rose up to his feet. It was good enough, right? They knew about eachother's truth, or at least she did now. They were even.
  130.
  131. "So.. That's what I wanted to tell you."
  132. (Kofe)
  133. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  134.
  135. [23:56] Ophelia Soleis says, "It's good that you're able to hide that part of you."
  136. [23:58] Kofe says, "I'm glad that you let me hide it inside your heart, Ophelia."
