“I guess you don’t quite understand the difference in strength between us. I have no choice, then.” Darian stretched his right hand upwards. Light shot from it into the sky, drawing a complicated geometric formation in the air. It looked like a multilayered magic circle. The collection of letters and shapes expanded into a sphere, which then stretched downwards, becoming a column and covering many mountains. And then the chillingly massive, awe-inspiringly bright column vanished without a trace.

Everyone watching was bewildered. It was too quiet. Although many mountains had disappeared nearby, it didn't quite feel real. What was there was emptiness. As far as you could look, there was a hole you couldn't see the bottom of. It was a spectacle that made it feel like it had been this way from the beginning.

Right. So, that’s the feeling of death I was getting earlier, Yogiri thought. If they were hit with that magic directly, the entire half-demon camp would disappear in an instant, and the range was so large that there was no way they could escape.

The half-demons sank into despair. In the face of the prince’s overwhelming power, they quickly lost the will to resist.

“I would expect nothing less of Lord Darian!”

“You changed the terrain like it was nothing!”

“I guess we’ll have to redraw our maps now, huh?”

「この 程度 じゃ 力 の 差 を わかっ ては もらえ ない のか。 だっ たら 仕方 が ない な」 　 ダリ アン が 右手 を まっすぐ に 上 へ 伸ばす。 　 右手 の 先 に 生まれ た 光 が 空 へと 伸び て いき、 天空 に 複雑 な 幾何学 模様 を 描き はじめ た。 　 立体 複層 魔法 陣 とでも いえ ば いい のか。 文字 と 図形 が 絡み合っ た それ は、 球状 に 展開 し て いく。 　 光 で 埋め 尽くさ れ た 陣 は、 そこ から 下 へと 伸び はじめ、 山々 を 覆い 尽くし 円柱 と なっ た。そして、 寒気 が する ほどに 大きく、 神々しい までに 輝く 柱 は、 何 の 前触れ も なく 消え去っ た。 　 それ を 見 て い た 者 たち は とまどっ た。 　 あまりに 静か だっ た の だ。 　 すぐ そこ に あっ た 山々 が 消え て いる と いう のに、 その 実感 が まるで ない。 　 そこ に ある のは、 虚ろ だっ た。 　 見渡す 限り の、 底 の 見え ない 穴 が でき て いる。 　 それ は、 最初 から こう だっ た としか 思え ない よう な 光景 だっ た。 　 ─ ─ なるほど。 さっき から 感じ て い た 死 の 予感 は、 これ か。 　 これ を 直接 喰らえ ば 半 魔 の キャンプ 地 など 一瞬 で 消え失せる し、 ここ まで 広範囲 に 影響 を 及ぼせる なら 逃げる こと も でき ない だろ う。 　 半 魔 たち は 絶望 に 沈ん だ。 　 ここ まで 圧倒的 な 力 を 見せつけ られ ては、 逆らう 気力 も なくなる だろ う。 「さ っす が ダリ アン！」 「地形 変わる って どん だけ だ よ！」 「地図 書き換え ない と だめ だ よね、 これ？」
