- Is it bad that I kept solving all of my problems by eating them? I ate Wraith to subvert them, I went Space Dragon and consumed smaller ships, I went Hellstar and consumed whole fleets of Wraith... Atlantis was not amused when I requested several olympic-size pools of barbeque sauce for seasoning.
- But we shouldn't start at the end. We should start at the beginning! The beginning where I stepped alone through a stargate to what looked like a darkened base, with a small crowd of humans looking very confused. Doubly so considering I just stepped through the gate in full System Lord regalia, since at this point I would have been eight years into my stay with SG-1. Which of course led to immediate hilarity:
- >"SNAKE!"
- "Where!?"
- >"I... you!"
- "I'm not a snake!"
- >"Oh, whatever! System lord then!"
- "I'm not a system lord, I'm a god- please put the guns away."
- >"Now you're just arguing semantics!"
- "Don't be silly. Anyway, where's Jack? I still owe him a beer and usually he's on these doomed expeditions."
- >"Doomed- wait, you... what."
- "Oh, we've probably not been introduced. Hi, I'm Crux and I'm the reason why you have guns that fire plasma instead of full metal jacket rounds."
- >"...What."
- "Yeah. Y'know, running around, thwarting everyone's plans, going all 'humanity, hell yeah', accidentally ruining the world economy but we don't talk about that ANYWAY! Let there be lights- ooh, crap, I should NOT have turned the lights on."
- >"What did you-" "I've been trying to tell them!"
- "So! Uh. I don't suppose any of you brought any power supplies with you? Maybe a mark two naquadah generator? Or five?"
- >"What. Did. You. Do." "I'm sorry!"
- "Yeah, it's not his fault but uh, this city? Runs on zero point energy modules. It's got three and they're all almost empty... hey, hey, put the guns back down! I'll help you fix it! Heck, I'll stick around and help you guys out even, might be fun."
- >"Fun, he says!"
- "Yeah. Hey, uh, disclaimer, your idea of fun might be a little different from the idea of fun that someone a hundred millennia olf would have? But this should be exciting."
- >"Exciting. Fun and exciting."
- "See, now you're sounding like Jack!"
- Fortunately, without a need for time traveling silliness, the appropriate measures and drama were present while I rigged up a power supply to Atlantis. I was rather surprised to find out the whole city was so inefficiently wired and that was among the many things that I fixed while I was hanging out - led to a few more minor issues in the interim, but it at least resolved some of the constant 'oh no we're going to die in an hour because of power issues' nonsense.
- Also, when the time came to play politics back on Earth again, I at least got to meet up with Jack and buy him that beer. Also to help him use political clout and leverage in order to sidestep most of the political dog and pony show.
- And I may have kinda sorta shaken up Earth politics enough that they started the ball rolling toward a unified global government, even if it was just a loose federal structure. Seems a few words to the right people in the right places at the right time is surprisingly powerful. Especially when the end result of the movement was the wholesale extermination of the Wraith - this on the heels of the Ori being destroyed.
- Eh, it was fun.
