- Questions and Answers
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Q: Has anyone else done this?
- A: No. I've seen others do 2 hours blindfolded, or certain parts of the game, but never the full run.
- Q: Why do you switch weapons before saving?
- A: It allows me to tell which saves are manual (with weapon) versus autosave (without)
- Q: Why is he jumping so much?
- A: If I'm moving while jumping, I'm trying to go in a straight line. If I'm jumping in place, I'm listening to the noise the ground below me makes.
- Q: No way you got this far without looking at the screen or getting help from chat!
- A: You can check the past vods. Everything was done without looking and without help. I'm actually very proud that this run is getting as far as it did!
- Q: What's bug limit?
- A: If you go to https://www.speedrun.com/botw and click Bug Limit then rules, it states what's allowed and what's not.
- Q: Bird box?
- A: I had no idea what that was until right before the end of this run. So...bawk?
- Q: Have you done this before?
- A: BOTW: no, this is my first attempt at this blindfolded. I have completed Zelda I, Zelda II, Link's Awakening DX, Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons (linked) blindfolded in the past. Vods are in my twitch and youtube for proof.
- Q: How can he see chat?
- A: I can't. I have a blindfold on until I take a break.
- Q: Do you take breaks?
- A: I take breaks every 2 or 3 hours to clear my mind, interact with chat and be able to get back at it. I do not look at anything I've done that would give me an advantage moving forward.
- Q: Do you take breaks at certain times when frustrated?
- A: I attempt to take break when I absolutely need them. If there are sections that are extremely difficult and yet I have the will to go on, I will go on. Yiga hideout and Vah Naboris are examples of this.
- Q: Why not just do Any%?
- A: I feel that any% is quite doable and find it too simple. I want to show off a mastery of navigating through most of the game.
- Q: No master mode?
- A: I debated it, and thought it may have been easier because there are many extra free chests. That and I didn't know this was even possible yet.
- Q: Why not just get Ravali's gale early to help navigate and find shrines?
- A: Rule is I must get the Champion's Tunic and Master Sword before boarding ANY divine beast. That means I have to come up with more strats to navigate the overworld for shrines.
- Q: How many shrines does it take to get the master sword?
- A: 40
- Q: Why do you need so much money?
- A: I need to purchase a lot of arrows for certain places because the game's sound cues isn't 100% helpful. That and having arrows in general is great. Durians are pricey as well.
- Q: Do you look over your past vods?
- A: Yes, but mainly after I have completed an objective correctly (and after finishing streaming). I love reading the chat's thoughts and reactions, and appreciate all hosts, follows and subscribers. I make sure ZERO advantage can be given to me moving forward.
- Q: What controller do you use?
- A: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. I REALLY WISH there were slight notches in it to tell certain directions.
- Q: What order will you do the divine beasts?
- A: Most likely Revali, Mipha, Daruk and Urbosa (Medoh, Ruta, Rudania, Naboris).
- Q: Where did you find some of the strats you do?
- A: I came up with all of them on my own during practice.
- Q: How will you defeat Calamity Ganon and Dark Beast Ganon?
- A: Hopefully with patience and timing. I want to avoid using Champion abilities for damage and use the sword that seals the darkness. I bet it will take a few tries. Dark Beast Ganon...may your aim be true.
- Q: How long do you think this run will take?
- A: My original guess was around 70 hours, but now I'm guessing 80 - 110+ hours. If I redid the sections I've already completed, I know I could go much faster given what I've learned. This is my first attempt going at this with an actual blindfold live.
- Q: Is there a place I can comment on this?
- A: You can check out my youtube where I post the vods. I made a reddit thread about this not too long ago to let others know.
- Q: Any way to contact you?
- A: Twitch, twitter or discord I suppose.
- Q: Are you planning on any other blindfolded runs?
- A: When I choose a blindfolded game (usually Zelda), I get a passion and urge to try it and attempt it. Currently my focus has been on BOTW so no current plans afterwards yet.
- Q: How many blindfolded games have you done?
- A: This will be my 7th. My first was Bunny Must Die, and the other six were different Zelda games. Some games I did run more than once (Zelda I and LADX).
- Q: What inspired you to do this?
- A: For the challenge, skill, patience, and fun. Its like the anti-speedrun. Sometimes I speedrun games, other times I love to take on challenges that are extremely difficult and slow going.
- Q: You're nuts!
- A: Thanks!
- - Saver
