Ochi tapped his fingers on the console as he studied the simple but unfamiliar controls of the CSA ship. Beside him, Bosvarga dropped into the copilot’s seat. “Better hurry,” he said, pointing ahead. “Looks like they’re about to jump to lightspeed.”

“Everything is under control,” said Ochi, and then he yanked the transport’s control yoke. The ship banked, sharply, throwing Cerensco off his feet.

“I can fly this if you want,” said Bosvarga, clutching the edge of the console as Ochi swung the ship again. Ahead, they were now directly in the path of the Bestoon Legacy. “That’s close, Ochi, that’s close!”

“Shut up,” said Ochi. “I know what I’m doing.” With that, he reached forward and activated a control. There was a muffled thud, and outside, two cables shot out from the front of the transport, their heavy magnetic clamps sticking fast to the side of the Legacy as whoever was piloting it banked around to try to find an escape vector.

“Got ’em,” said Ochi. “Cerensco, prep the boarding tube. I’ll line us up.”

Cerensco pushed himself to his feet and left the cockpit at a run. Bosvarga laughed, watching as Ochi manipulated the controls, using the magnetic cables to hold the Legacy in place and turn it so the entry ramp was now facing the transport. A mechanical whine sounded, and at the bottom of the cockpit viewports a square, telescopic metal tube could be seen extending toward the other ship.

“Come on,” said Ochi. “Time to collect.”

Locking off the controls, he leapt out of the seat. Behind him, Bosvarga stood and, pulling his blaster, followed his boss.
