[Verdant] - (Rev1) Hastur, the King in Yellow

Hastur, the King in Yellow. Also known as The Feaster from Afar, the Repairer of Reputations, is an elder god who takes many forms; chief among them a shriveled mummy wrapped in golden cloth. Additional forms are thus:
-A black, shriveled, corpse that floats and twitches in the air.
-A golden ram with starry eyes.
-A young goldblood, nude with a crown and scepter. The yellow sign is tattooed all across his body in interlocking knots.

Hastur is rare amongst the elder gods in his interest for culture and arts. Those gods capable of sentience despise him for his strange obsession of being worshiped by the rough equivalent of gerbils. Through history he has planted his name and symbols in many cultures, filled with pride as he's worshiped for many things. Some might see him as a saint in a clown cult, or a lowblood ideologue, or one of the many mirthful messiahs. A select few works capture his interest, as they make trolls aware of his true nature. Communing with Hastur is the equivalent of informing a prideful elder god you know his secrets.

Sacrifices:
1. (Required: Servant) A Performance of ‘The King in Yellow’, either as a full ensemble or a One-Man Play. You must act as the Director for the Production carried out by your Servant or Servants, and ensure that you put your own Creative Intent into the Ritual. This is a Sacrifice that has been wrongly performed many a time by an unwitting director, so be aware of your intent. If this pleases Hastur, he will appear nearby and clap for the performance. His presence will reward you. (Roll 1d2. 1-He Hears you, 2-He does not. You must wait 1 IRL Week to try this Sacrifice again but may try the others immediately if criteria is met.)

2. (Required: Item/Servant) You and your Servant must kill a Ram, skin it, and Stuff it with a priceless work of art. This may be an original edition of a book, a painting, a sculpture, or it may be the work of an Artist as of yet undiscovered destined for great things. Once stuffed, the Ram must be set on fire from both ends simultaneously by you and your Servant. Hastur will walk out of the fire in the form of the Slaughtered Ram and present your Boon to you.

3. (Required: No Servant) You must understand Hastur and the nature of his Being thoroughly through research and the understanding of his work. Finding yourself alone in a building, you must stand in a doorway and utter his name Three Times Consecutively. There will be a knock at the Door. If there is no door, or the door is open, the knock will still come from the doorway. Tell him to come in and Hastur will appear before you. Do nothing and he will leave. He will not respond to your calling of his name again if turned away. (Special Curse)


Boons:
1. You may speak up to three languages of your choosing, no matter whether or not the language is extinct or specific to a certain group. This allows you to translate ancient texts, speak with specific groups, understand untranslated works from other continents or planets, etc.

2. You become an incredible sculptor, painter and sketch artist, with the ability to form all sorts of concepts and beauty into being through these mediums. You are guaranteed to gain cultural importance and fame through your skill.

3. You gain knowledge on how to groom others to be their most beautiful selves; you have incredible knowledge regarding makeup application techniques, skincare techniques, hair styling techniques, fashion and the most appropriate way to dress another person, etcetera. Those you dress and groom become as beautiful as they can through natural means. You may also craft incredible works of art fashion-wise, and become a master seamstress and designer.

4. You are capable of forcing others to keep secrets, either of your own or the victim’s, by pressing two fingers to someone's mouth and speaking what you want to be kept private (consent or psionic roll on discretion). Intent is what matters, not spoken word-- if you say 'keep my love life secret', meaning your affairs with numerous quadrants, yet the victim views it or attempts to view it as 'only keep my RED quadrants secret, I didn't say my hate life', intent wins. They must keep all affairs with your numerous quadrants secret. You cannot do this in a way which seriously impedes someone's ability to function as a person (mods' discretion) and one person can only be forced to keep three secrets at a time maximum (unless player consent is given).


Curses:
1. You lose your creative ability in one field-- you may forget how to play an instrument you could previously play, you may forget how to paint, you may forget a language you could previously speak. (Mod discretion may be used along with player opinion.)

2. You are incapable of lying about your romantic feelings for anyone. If you are asked directly by someone regarding your romantic feelings for anyone else, you must immediately divulge any pale, pitch or red affection you may hold. (You do not need to be overly descriptive, but will feel compelled to tell the precise quadrant-aligned type of affection, and will also divulge any quadrants you are currently involved in.)

3. You lose your ability to speak one language. If you can only speak one language, then you are rendered mute, only capable of communicating through written word, sign language, etcetera.

4. You are unable to discern something of high quality from something low quality within any form of art. Your opinions on all media becomes objectively awful. Any movies which have low reviews from audiences, you will adore; any recipe that is critically panned will taste delicious to you. Troll Da Vinnci's greatest works pale in comparison to a large piece of tinfoil taped to a stick outside of the local Great Value.

5. You cannot stand the sound of music and must cover your ears/attempt to muffle the noise in any way until the music ceases. If it does not cease, you will be compelled to leave the area until it does.

6. You cannot recall details about any book you’ve read, any piece of art you’ve looked at, or any song you’ve listened to prior to this curse taking effect. While you may have a vague concept that you read a play revolving around fairies, you cannot speak on any specifics of the play, and may even mess up the subject of the play, cannot recall the title, etc.

7. You entirely forget a fact about yourself that you have been keeping a secret. If you have been having an affair and have been hiding this from others, you forget that you were having said affair, you lose your attraction for your affair partner, etc. (Mod discretion and explanation applies). If somehow not applicable, reroll.

8. You lose all desire to create in any way; you is unable to bring themselves to draw, write, perform music, etcetera. You will still have creative thoughts and ideas, but are unable to gather up the energy or interest to pursue them.

(Special Curse)
You will have no media record. Videos starring you will be corrupted, drawings of you will be smeared and unrecognizable, details about you will be forgotten when the author tries to write them down. This is the end result of using Hastur's name, the complete and total destruction of your own.
