- Pokémon Sword Any% w/ Primarina F.A.Q.
- Q: What are you trying to do?
- A: I am trying to complete Pokémon Sword as fast as possible using Primarina as my main
- Q: How is that possible?
- A: Wartab and I are testing a new "category", where we allow any Pokémon to be transferred into the game as soon as possible. This puts a new spin on the "Alternate Main" concept to allow for ANYTHING, not just Pokémon that are obtainable early
- Q: What are the rules for this new "category"?
- A: Here are the rules:
- - The Pokémon must be exactly Level 7, without any excess Experience
- - The Pokémon may have any Ability (including Hidden)
- - The Pokémon may have any Nature
- - The Pokémon may have any IV Combination
- - The Pokémon must have 0 EVs across all stats
- - The Pokémon may only hold an item that it spawns with naturally in the wild (e.g. Leek on a Farfetch'd)
- - The Pokémon may be in any kind of Poké Ball
- - The Pokémon must share its Region with the Player to prevent boosted Experience
- - The Pokémon may only have moves that are learnable at Level 7. No Egg Moves, TMs, TRs, or Tutor Moves are allowed
- - The Pokémon must be at the evolution stage it would be at Level 7
- - If the Pokémon evolves by means other than Level Up, it must not be evolved before the run starts
- - Time starts when your character moves after leaving the Pokémon Center in Wedgehurst for the first time
- Q: What is your best time?
- A: I've never done this
- Q: What is the World Record?
- A: This has never been done
- Q: Free World Record!
- A: I know!
- Q: Can you do this run on Shield!?
- A: You can! I'm not though
- Q: Which game is faster?
- A: For this, I believe Sword is faster
- Q: What are the differences between the two games for the speedrun?
- A: There are a few reasons why Primarina shines in Sword over Shield
- - The 4th and 6th Gyms are different between the two games, with Sword getting Fighting/Rock while Shield gets Ghost/Ice. This brings a lot of factors to the surface:
- - The Ghost Gym has a trainer with 3 Grass types, which Primarina struggles with
- - The Fighting Gym is overall very weak to a Fairy type
- - The Ice Gym Leader has a Lapras that Primarina struggles with
- - The Rock Gym Leader is a pushover
- Q: What are those numbers at the bottom of the screen?
- A: Those are Popplio's IVs. As you can see, they are very good. We are allowed to give our Pokémon whatever stats we want, which makes the running and routing for the "Trade Pokémon" runs very fun and exciting
- Q: What is your goal time?
- A: Currently, I just want to finish a run
