  1. SEPTEMBER EVALUATION
  2.
  3. Alternate attendance and preparation weeks, but force attendance so that I don’t get complacent (don’t have to go to many tournaments, just one is enough)
  4. Preparation should be centered on 2-3 recent performance issues (gameplay or otherwise) and 1-2 learning objectives that correspond with general interest.
  5.
  6. -- So I think the attendance thing went well, but the preparation aspect wasn't consistent. I wasn't able to put forth my preparation at UNChi on account of having poor warm-up and insufficient preparation for tournament conditions (i.e. TO'ing is harder than I thought), but I was able to prepare and showcase well at the Arcadian. This month, I'm going to do my best to perform better at my own tournament and attend more events in general.
  7.
  8. Solo practice, self-care every day
  9. Self-care after water + when I wake up (lets me get comfortable and use on tourney days)
  10. So morning routine goes Water -> WHM -> Yoga -> Meditation, then go to work and exercise
  11.
  12. -- I did a lot of regular self-care; not every day, but frequently (enough to continue to habituate and get associative feelings in body). I didn't meditate enough.
  13.
  14. Solo practice when I get home from work.
  15. 15 minutes MINIMUM of focused tech skill/punish/position practice
  16.
  17. -- I solo practiced frequently for...two weeks? Best I've done so far! But I wasn't consistent slightly before and slightly after Arcadian (though some of that time I was doing UNChi stuff).
  18.
  19. 3-4 days a week of VOD analysis
  20. Don’t play on netplay or vs. humans unless I have something I got from a VOD/testing on my own
  21. Study videos however I want, just make sure to do it
  22. Pause + play in certain positions
  23. Try to understand why someone got hit
  24. Heat maps
  25. Acting as if I’m the one playing + evaluating difference in decisions
  26. Try to focus on “important things” + specifics
  27. Win condition, maxing frame advantage, positions/heat map, killing the other guy, efficient defense, etc.
  28. Don’t forget to take water breaks to try to refresh focus
  29. Make sure to write practice items down so that I can internalize via CPU/20XX/netplay
  30.
  31. -- I was watching VODs consistently for a time and it was going extremely well; I found testable items, interpreted gameplay without being excessive, and enjoyed the process. In fact, I developed my ICs strategy almost totally from watching videos! However, I need to be a lot more consistent still.
  32.
  33. OVERALL:
  34. + VOD studying went better
  35. + Solo practice was the best it's ever been both quality and consistency wise
  36. - Inconsistent preparation
  37. - Insufficient meditation

  40. OCTOBER GOALS
  41.
  42. SELF CARE
  43. 1. Exercise schedule - M/W/F lifts, T/R cardio. On T/R, do longer meditations after getting home.
  44. 2. Maintain exercise log as an accountability measure.
  45. 3. Result mini goal: Complete a tournament visualization exercise before NChiSU.
  46.
  47. TOURNAMENTS
  48. 1. Attend both RoMs, two Fella Fridays and NChiSU.
  49. 2. Identify three performance issues after every event, and include those in my practice/study.
  50. 3. Result mini goal: Via $10 money match or tournament, get at least 2 Ws on PR members by NChiSU (inclusive).
  51.
  52. SOLO PRACTICE
  53. 1. Have physical contact with the game every day. Even 10-15 minutes before bed is sufficient, so long as it's very focused.
  54. 2. Implement new practice model (analytical + instinctual).
  55. 3. Result mini goal: Become competent at grabbing no-tech getup.
  56.
  57. VOD ANALYSIS
  58. 1. Minimum 30 minutes of study every other day. Study videos however I want, just make sure to do it
  59. 2. Write down testable/practiceable take-aways after every viewing session.
  60. 3. Result mini goal: fill 5 pages front + back in notebook before NChiSU.
  61.
  62. SESSIONS
  63. 1. Play one session a week, netplay or otherwise.
  64. 2. Refer to notebook every time I take a water break (should be taking lots of water breaks; one every five friendlies).
  65. 3. Figure out how I feel when I'm playing well at a session or I'm learning a lot, in every way -- emotions, body, resilience, breathing, etc.
