BACKGROUND; As she was little, she knew at least one thing: she was deaf. Born with an ear infection that would soon cause her to completely lose her hearing, her family never knew what was going on. As she grew up, she would read stories to help grow her mind. She knew how to read and right in her many languages, but not so much speak as she couldn’t hear herself to correct her mistakes. Because of her deafness, she was bullied as a child. From an early age she knew how harsh the world was, yet she tried her best to believe in the fairytales she has read. Her family believed that maybe family support would help her, hence why they moved to Laos. It was ok, but communicating was hard as most of her family didn’t know how to read or write, as Hmong was more of a spoken language in their culture. Yet, somehow, with help of those that came from America, she was soon able to understand what her people were saying, even with the hard language. Seeing that her confidence has boosted, her father took up a job offering that had them all settle down in South Korea. Once again, Kal was bullied in her new environment, but this time she had her family by her side. She soon learned to communicate by reading their mouths, though sometimes it was easier said than done.
PERSONALITY;
[I SMILE]  —  Kal is one of the funniest people you’ll ever meet, even with her mute and deafness. She is naturally silly, and wishes to see everyone smile. Her clumsiness comes to play whenever she’s trying to make someone laugh, and just during her everyday life. Kal is one of the rare few who has eye smiles in her family, and it just adds to her bubbly personality.
{CHESHIRE KITTEN}  —  Kal tends to be curious, which tends to be annoying to most people. Her curiosity is consistent and will not stop until it is solved. When she wants to know about something, she tugs on your clothing until you notice her, then she would point to what she wants to know about. This gets her in a lot of trouble, but not enough to stop her curiosity.
{LIKE A PRINCESS}  —  Because of her father’s line of work—being an important diplomat for the Hmong Community—she was taught many things in order to perceive a good image of the Hmong people and her family. Her manners are top notch, and are unwavering, unless her curiosity gets the better of her. She is known to treat guests like royalty without having to go any lower than her position as a hostess. Her aid to her peers are kindly distant and cautious as she was taught to learn of people’s boundaries.
{LIKE AN OPEN BOOK}  —  Kal is smart, incredibly smart. She attended a well known private school in France, tutored by her parents in Laos, and sent to one of the best schools in the area of Pyeongchang, South Korea. She is advanced in her subjects and ahead than her peers, but she is modest and willing to help others, as well as learn new things. She is able to read mouths that speaks in all four of her languages, as well as say a decent conversation in all four languages.
{WONDERLAND}  —  Because she cannot hear, she is not aware for when she is noisy. She unconsciously reads aloud, not realizing that it could disrupt those around her. When she is tugging for attention to her curiosity, she would often make small noises that soon angers the person. She is often alone in her room, her mind in her own world, a Wonderland perhaps, where she doesn’t have to worry about bothering others.
{PERCY JACKSON}  —  Just like her favorite fiction character, she loves her family and friends more than herself. She is selfless, hoping for their well being more than her own, and dropping everything for them. She is loyal, even to those who had hurt her, and will fight for your protection.
