  1. As he swung down an entire building with his giant mud arm, the High Priest finally came
  2. to a stop.
  3. He had caused a frightening amount of destruction, but he hardly considered that worth
  4. focusing on at this point.
  5. His eyes were on the building itself.
  6. He had swung it down with such great force, but it had not crumbled to pieces or split in
  7. two. The building’s structure remained entirely intact.
  8. Of course, that was not due to the strength of the reinforced concrete.
  9. This seemingly mysterious phenomenon had a legitimate explanation.
  10. “Quite the interesting trick. Is that magnetism?”
  11. “Shut…up.”
  12. He thought he heard a voice from beyond the building.
  13. “If you hadn’t done this, I wouldn’t have had to go to all this trouble. If I hadn’t done
  14. anything, who knows what would have happened to everyone inside the building.”
  15. “Hah hah!! I see, I see. So you are here to save the people! That would mean you did more
  16. than catch it with magnetism. You must have added in a variety of tricks to make sure the
  17. people inside weren’t smashed to-…”
  18. He did not have time to finish speaking.
  19. He thought he heard someone kicking off the ground and the Ace of Tokiwadai jumped
  20. on top of the side wall of the building that was tilted on its side like a club.
  21. She could not have circled around the building while supporting it.
  22. Which meant…
  23. (Was that voice a fake? Did she vibrate a thin metal panel like with a telephone? Even if
  24. she had supported it from below, shards of glass would have rained down on her.)
  25. Something snapped from Mikoto’s arm like a whip.
  26. It was a vibrating collection of iron sand. She first used it to sever the base of the giant
  27. arm supporting the building and then she sent it after the High Priest himself.
  28. But…
  29. “Watch out there. That’s dangerous.”
  30. He sounded entirely unconcerned.
  31. At the same time, the ground split open again and another giant arm burst out.
  32. It pulled up another building and responded to the iron sand sword.
  33. He did it all as casually as someone grabbing a chair or fire extinguisher when a suspicious
  34. person entered the school. That was all it took for him to use a building full of dozens or
  35. even hundreds of people like a disposable tool.
  36. “This guy!!” roared Mikoto after she unintentionally slammed her whip-like iron sand
  37. sword into the building.
  38. The High Priest did not seem to care.
  39. “Now then, young lady. There are a number of ways to save people.”
  40. “Kh.”
  41. “The people inside this building will die without pain or fear, not knowing what happened
  42. to them. Isn’t that one form of salvation?”
  43. As he spoke, the High Priest grabbed more and more buildings and threw them.
  44. Not even Mikoto could hold back all of this. She focused her powers on saving lives by
  45. pulling water pipes and rebar from the buildings as cushions that were meant to be broken
  46. through, but it was unclear how long she could keep it up. She tried to stop and support
  47. the buildings while fighting to prevent the “contents” from being crushed, but more and
  48. more buildings were piled on top.
  49. She could not say just how many people would be crushed inside if she made a single
  50. mistake.
  51. (Not good! If this keeps up, I’ll be crushed underneath it all!!)
  52. “Dammit!!”
  53. Mikoto suddenly swung her iron sand sword, but not to attack the High Priest.
  54. She cut into the ground below his feet and sent him falling into the subway tunnel below.
  55. “Ho?”
  56. The mummy actually laughed.
  57. He sank down with the calm of an old man delightedly and intentionally falling for the
  58. pitfall his first grandchild had made.
  59. The dozen or so seconds this gave Mikoto allowed her to somehow use her magnetism to
  60. set down the pile of buildings.
