  1. Rosenkrantz_GM IT IS THE 41ST MILLENNIUM...
  2. Rosenkrantz_GM You have reached the hermit monks of the Order of the Hammer on Foulstone. Through the wisdom of the legendary missionary Nicomedes Keefe, these monks have created an agricultural paradise for themselves on the surface of a planet with few other patches of greenery than those cultivated by the monks on their enclave.
  3. Rosenkrantz_GM The senior monk that greeted you has lent his ear to Father Calvin, learning of your intentions to further their adolated figure's life work. He understands that you are likely here to see their most prized relic - the Hammer of Cognatious - but explains that this level of access can only be done by a decision from the Conclave of Brothers. He has promised you an audience with them, after
  4. Rosenkrantz_GM seeing the artifacts you brought with you and recognized them as legitimate.
  5. Calvin_Colonel pauses to admire some of the fragrant plants used for spices and incenses
  6. Calvin_Colonel "And to think that such a temperamental plant would take root here..."
  7. Makh_Chomun "They must have worked themselves to the bone to make a life here so...habitable. It's awesome, oh yeah."
  8. Vivian "Where there is a will, there is a way."
  9. Rosenkrantz_GM Younger members of the Order of the Hammer walk in groups among the gardens, taking notes of every detail, as they observe those who tend to the plants.
  10. Makh_Chomun "How often do people come here to join the ranks? Can't imagine they can sustain such a population on their own."
  11. Vivian paused in front of a group of flowers in the gardens, crossing her arms as she'd stare quietly. Admiring the natural beauty of the efforts made. "Hm.."
  12. Josef "Interesting. Sustaining themselves like the ancient human civilization."
  13. Rosenkrantz_GM Bells begin to ring from the distant towers, and the grand hall burns incense, which rises from openings on the dome.
  14. Rosenkrantz_GM All around you, monks stop what they're doing, and face the central monastic building.
  15. Rosenkrantz_GM "The Conclave is meeting!" one of the youngsters calls to his friends.
  16. Calvin_Colonel "Shall we?"
  17. Makh_Chomun "Lead on Mr. Priest-man."
  18. Josef [Rogue Cant] "A religious blessing or a meeting to deal with /us/?"
  19. Vivian [Rogue Cant] "A bit paranoid, are we?"
  20. Baine_Mort [Rogue Cant] "He's always paranoid."
  21. Rosenkrantz_GM You notice that only monks dressed in certain robes make for the building. The rest slowly turn back to their duties.
  22. Josef [Rogue] "A bit of caution never caused any harm."
  23. Makh_Chomun [Rogue Cant] "Both my mecha-biotic comrade."
  24. Calvin_Colonel raises an eyebrow at the exchange, then starts walking there
  25. Josef lets out a mechanical laughter and follows the Priest.
  26. Vivian [RC] "I find it amusing to be paranoid of unarmed monks. Let's get a move on."
  27. Vivian gave a gentle shrug and followed after.
  28. Calvin_Colonel [High Gothic] "Lord Captain, while I do not intend to undermine your authority or question your wisdom, I humbly suggest that you allow me to take a leading role in the negotiations."
  29. Baine_Mort looks at Josef, [Rogue Cant] "You look different today."
  30. Rosenkrantz_GM As you reach the ancient steps, you see before you a beautifully-lit atrium. The sun's light engulfs it in a gold-orange glow which somehow welcomes you in.
  31. Josef [Rogue Cant] "There was an upgrade, a blessing of the Machines, given to me on our trip."
  32. Vivian mused to herself, just loud enough for Calvin to hear. [High Gothic] "A priestman negotiating.. Well, I suppose you do so every day, hmm!"
  33. Rosenkrantz_GM You see the familiar face of the monk who greeted you, standing on a doorway past a statue of Nicomedes Keefe. He holds it open, and beckons you over.
  34. Calvin_Colonel smiles and bows
  35. Makh_Chomun walks through the door, nodding at the priest as he passes him.
  36. Josef follows behind Lord Chomun and winds down his Utility Mechadendrite.
  37. Baine_Mort follows Josef through the door.
  38. Rosenkrantz_GM "The Conclave has gathered, frater. The doors just beyond will open into the Balcony of Petition inside the great chamber. When it is time, you will step forward and address the Conclave."
  39. Rosenkrantz_GM He gives a bow, and leaves you. Presumably to find his own seat in the Conclave.
  40. Rosenkrantz_GM You can hear the activity in the chamber. Some sort of introductory remark is being given, voices echoing to distortion.
  41. Vivian gave a slight shift of discomfort. Looking to the side, she'd otherwise keep quiet and watch for now. Something wasn't feeling right. She couldn't place her finger on what, though. A light frown faintly formed on her lips for now.
  42. Rosenkrantz_GM The heavy doors, then, open.
  43. Josef [Rogue Cant] "Paranoid, Lady Vivian?"
  44. Rosenkrantz_GM You walk down the narrow walkway onto a circular platform that appears to 'float' in the center of the chamber. You are surrounded on all directions by the robed monks once there. They are silent as you take your positions.
  45. Makh_Chomun The Arch-Militant folds his arms.
  46. Vivian raised a brow, then looked at Josef. [RC] "Hardly. Religious settings just make me a little uneasy. Kindly monks or not. I just don't know if-.. Well. That." She'd then gently gesture towards the fact they were walking into a room surrounded by robed monks. By then, her voice dipped low to a gentle whisper for Josef to hear.
  47. Rosenkrantz_GM Your steps echo through the chamber. Even the slightest of sounds travels and bounces off the rounded architecture, amplified.
  48. Calvin_Colonel takes his position at the center of the platform and adjusts his robe to prominently display his Rosarius and relic
  49. Josef [Rogue Cant] "I would be careful of your words, my lady. Some may judge it as a sign of an unforgivable action."
  50. Rosenkrantz_GM Among the relative silence of the chamber, Josef's words stand out as though shouted.
  51. Vivian facepalmed quietly. Then brought her hand up to motion for Josef to quiet down.
  52. Rosenkrantz_GM One of the most elderly of the monks, seated in no particular place of apparent importance, rises to his feet.
  53. Josef says in a 'hushed' tone [Rogue Cant] 'As you wish."
  54. Rosenkrantz_GM "Speak, frater of His holy missions, of what you have uncovered, and of what you seek." His voice is weak; almost a whisper. But the chamber projects it as audible a voice of a man half his age.
  55. Rosenkrantz_GM He takes his seat, though his words still linger in the echoing walls of the chamber.
  56. Calvin_Colonel "In the name of the God-Emperor of Mankind, in service of the Rosenkrantz Dynasty, we have fought reavers who turned from His light. We discovered that they possessed a set of relics - possessions of Missionary Keefe."
  57. Rosenkrantz_GM The Brothers whisper to one another. Some pointing to Calvin and what he holds.
  58. Rosenkrantz_GM The Elder Monk rises once more.
  59. Rosenkrantz_GM The room becomes silent.
  60. Calvin_Colonel "Within, we divined that they were clues to the resting place of St. Cognatius."
  61. Calvin_Colonel "We now seek to finish his holy work. For that, we humbly request your assistance."
  62. Rosenkrantz_GM "What you claim, frater, is a matter of more importance to our humble Order than you might understand."
  63. Calvin_Colonel "I understand, and I must admit that at first I had my doubts that our evidence was sufficiently substantial to warrant such a request."
  64. Calvin_Colonel "However."
  65. Calvin_Colonel "On our journey here, our vessel and crew were filled with portents from St. Cognatius and the God-Emperor Himself."
  66. Calvin_Colonel produces a data-slate
  67. Rosenkrantz_GM The old monk looks to his left, and his right. Making eye-contact with some of his brothers at this.
  68. Calvin_Colonel "A series of recordings of the trip are within."
  69. Calvin_Colonel produces a small booklet
  70. Calvin_Colonel "And here I recorded visions and dreams of St. Cognatius and Nicomedes Keefe, experienced during warp-transit."
  71. Rosenkrantz_GM He nods, and almost immediately a young initiate climbs up a series of steps to your platform to retrieve the evidence you bring.
  72. Calvin_Colonel "If necessary, we may bring more of our crew and officers to testify as to the fervor experienced during the journey."
  73. Makh_Chomun shivers despite himself. He still isn't quite sure what gripped him during the trip, but it was a lot more hands-on faith than he's used to.
  74. Vivian brings her hand up to gently rest on Chomun's shoulder, before giving his back a reassuring pat.
  75. Rosenkrantz_GM "We will review that which you bring with you, frater. But as you know, our Order is largely dependent on the tribute of outsiders. From humble penitents, to powerful lords. What sort of aid are you asking of our order?"
  76. Calvin_Colonel takes a step back and puts a hand on Vivian's shoulder "Seneschal, I believe this is where you are more prepared than I."
  77. Makh_Chomun nods to Vivian, appreciating the understanding.
  78. Vivian thinned her lips a bit in a lack of amusement, before she would give a low 'ahem' and step forward at Calvin's inclination. "We would humbly request for guidance. Aid in locating the whereabouts would be ideal." Then she'd briefly shoot Calvin a look. Almost as if he could have asked this himself! Looking back up to the head monk, she would give a low ahem. "Of course, to compensate and to...
  79. Vivian ...show our gratitude to the cause, we would be willing to offer tribute in the form of the relics we bring before you."
  80. Rosenkrantz_GM Rather than respond to you, the monk takes his seat.
  81. Rosenkrantz_GM Another, off to your right, rises.
  82. Rosenkrantz_GM "The relics you bring. They were lost some time ago. A set of them. You claim to have found the heathens who took them?"
  83. Calvin_Colonel "Yes. A pirate by the name of Space Hulk. Archi-Militant, would you care to enlighten them further? I believe you two had a history."
  84. Rosenkrantz_GM The monk who now addresses you, looks over to Makh.
  85. Makh_Chomun steps forward. He removes his helmet to the hiss of escaping internal pressure. "My history with that, excuse my terming holy men, bastard is personal. But he was a piratical slaver of the worst kind. He somehow got his hand on these relics and was trying to poach them via a series of tournaments and duels. In the nest we killed him and his heretical crew and took the relics so that we may...
  86. Makh_Chomun ...find their true holding place." Makh takes a breath halfway through, he wasn't expecting to have to testify perse for these monks.
  87. Rosenkrantz_GM "You have done the Emperor's work, warrior. And so you have recovered them all?"
  88. Makh_Chomun "From what I have been told, all but one." Makh holds up a finger to emphasize the solitary relic that has escaped the dynasty's grasp.
  89. Rosenkrantz_GM "A pity... a true pity. Nonetheless you have done much for our Order." He nods, and takes his seat.
  90. Rosenkrantz_GM A monk standing practically behind you, to some altitute on the circular chamber now speaks.
  91. Rosenkrantz_GM "Your returning of these relics will have earned you access to the Librarium, where you may study what you please."
  92. Calvin_Colonel bows
  93. Calvin_Colonel "In the name of the Rosenkrantz Dynasty, we thank you."
  94. Rosenkrantz_GM All monks rise. And in unison, speak. "Ave Imperator."
  95. Makh_Chomun "Ave Imperator." Makh intones.
  96. Calvin_Colonel "Ave Imperator."
  97. Baine_Mort "Ave Imperator."
  98. Josef "Blessing of the Machine."
  99. Rosenkrantz_GM The bells ring once more, and the doors to the chamber are unlocked, and opened.
  100. Vivian "Ave Imperator."
  101. Calvin_Colonel exits
  102. Rosenkrantz_GM You are taken to an underground vault. Inside, there are rows upon rows of books, scrolls, and tomes of nearly every subject.
  103. Rosenkrantz_GM The studious members of the Order are all about, consulting the wisdom of their order and by extension that of Nicomedes Keefe.
  104. Vivian immediately lights right up. Unable to help herself, her fingers gave a little wiggle in excitement as she saw the rows and rows of books, scrolls and tomes. Her curiosity was only growing.
  105. Baine_Mort looks around and picks up a random book and starts reading it.
  106. Makh_Chomun explores the room after hooking his helmet to his belt.
  107. Vivian immediately dove right in, her fingertips trailing along the spines of the various books as she would scan over and try to locate what might be prevalent to the situation. As she did, she'd give a happy little hum. Almost looking like a little schoolgirl having fun! Quite unusual.
  108. Josef connects to his servo-skull and starts recording his findings in the tomes.
  109. Calvin_Colonel carefully reads through the tomes
  110. Vivian quietly wandered on over towards Calvin as she held the book in hand. Leaning towards him, she'd speak softly as she'd point out the information she found. [High Gothic] "Have you heard of this, Father? 'The Sacred Heart'"
  111. Calvin_Colonel "Thank you."
  112. Calvin_Colonel takes the book
  113. Calvin_Colonel "The Sacred Heart..."
  114. Josef "Confessor Colonel, I may have found some information."
  115. Josef starts recording his information onto his date-slate with Snitches taking pictures of the relevant pages.
  116. Calvin_Colonel "I believe he died during a voyage. Perhaps the Sacred Heart was the name of the vessel?"
  117. Calvin_Colonel "No, St. Cognatius' ship!"
  118. Calvin_Colonel "An excellent find."
  119. Vivian looks rather pleased with herself.
  120. Josef "Sacred Hearts....?"
  121. Rosenkrantz_GM A monk approaches you.
  122. Rosenkrantz_GM "The brothers of the conclave have reviewed your evidence. You have been granted access to the Hammer of Cognatious."
  123. Calvin_Colonel "Much obliged."
  124. Calvin_Colonel turns to the others "Are we ready?"
  125. Vivian gave a longing glance to the library before giving a soft sigh. Looking to Josef, she'd lean in and whisper. "Please send me a copy of all the data you've logged." Then she'd give a nod to Colonel.
  126. Calvin_Colonel follows the monk to the Hammer
  127. Josef disconnects from his servo-skull and says "Connect your data-slate to Snitches and he'll transmit the data, Lady Vivian."
  128. Makh_Chomun follows after the group.
  129. Vivian immediately and happily does so. Of course, while giving an appreciative little 'pet' to Snitches. Such a good little Servo-skull.
  130. Rosenkrantz_GM The Hammer is in its own shrine. It is largely unattended, the sanctity of the site being such that the brothers prefer not to "disturb" it without necessity.
  131. Rosenkrantz_GM Incenses burn from the local spices in the chamber, illuminated by natural light through stained glass windows.
  132. Calvin_Colonel gazes reverentially at the relic
  133. Calvin_Colonel "Magnificent."
  134. Calvin_Colonel approaches to inspect it, without touching it, of course
  135. Vivian quietly tucks her hands behind her back, approaching alongside Colonel. She was just as intent of observing and seeing what she could glean off the relic in question.
  136. Rosenkrantz_GM The hammer is about the height of a man, with a powerful spike on one end, and decorative icons all through the grip and power pack.
  137. Makh_Chomun whistles. "Now that, is a weapon."
  138. Josef "Lady Vivian and Confessor Colonel, I need help with this text."
  139. Baine_Mort "Yea, What you would do with that thing Chomun, you could take on anyrthing."
  140. Calvin_Colonel "Penace for a Tormented Soul..."
  141. Makh_Chomun "Practically, yeah. I bet it feels great to hold and wield."
  142. Calvin_Colonel "It does not fit the pattern of the rest of the script."
  143. Josef "The machine spirit is trying to speak."
  144. Josef lights some candles and places it near the shrines and sings hymns to the Machine God.
  145. Josef takes his sacred oils and sprays some on his fingers. He touches the handle of weapon with the oil dripped fingers.
  146. Rosenkrantz_GM The Hammer begins to vibrate with energy.
  147. Makh_Chomun "Josef! What did you do!?
  148. Josef "I have awaken it's spirit."
  149. Vivian snapped her gaze away from what Josef was doing, to look towards the monks that would be standing guard.
  150. Rosenkrantz_GM On the base of the hammer, the gilded piece Father Calvin was studying, pops out of place slightly.
  151. Rosenkrantz_GM "PENANCE"
  152. Calvin_Colonel "By the Emperor!"
  153. Josef "The soul of the Machine God surrounds thee.
  154. Josef The power of the Machine God invests thee.
  155. Josef The hate of the Machine God drives thee.
  156. Josef The Machine God endows thee with life.
  157. Josef Live!"
  158. Rosenkrantz_GM A single burst of binary screeches out. All but Josef, it is a single, brief, defeaning ping. It echoes throughout the monastery.
  159. Rosenkrantz_GM To Josef, it is a burst of unknown binary code. Codified in some manner for a very specific purpose.
  160. Baine_Mort "Well I think my ears are going to be ringing for a while." Mort says as he takes off his helmet to rub his ears.
  161. Rosenkrantz_GM The Hammer returns to its innert state shortly thereafter, as it was before.
  162. Josef records the binary code on his Data-Slate.
  163. Vivian brings one hand up to her right ear, flinching a bit before she'd quietly open her mouth a bit. "..Ah."
  164. Rosenkrantz_GM The shrine is soon filled with curious monks.
  165. Rosenkrantz_GM "What have you done?!"
  166. Josef "I am having difficulty translating the new information."
  167. Josef "I have awakened the spirit of the machine. It was in a restless state."
  168. Rosenkrantz_GM "It... spoke."
  169. Josef "Of course as do all creations of the Omnissiah."
  170. Makh_Chomun "It yelled alright."
  171. Rosenkrantz_GM "Everybody out!"
  172. Rosenkrantz_GM You recognize the voice as one of the elder brothers from the Conclave.
  173. Josef "I have done my duties."
  174. Rosenkrantz_GM As the monks leave, he approaches you.
  175. Rosenkrantz_GM "The hammer spoke only to Nicomedes. Saint Cognatious spoke to him through the hammer. You and your quest is a favored one."
  176. Baine_Mort points to Josef.
  177. Makh_Chomun "I assume that means we could have a more hands on examination of the great hammer?"
  178. Josef "Our journey will be a difficult one. We have a start at least." He looks at Mort, confused by his queer gesture.
  179. Rosenkrantz_GM "The Hammer's place is here, warrior. Such was the will of Nicomedes. But one thing is certain. You must press on. You have no choice in this matter, for Saint Cognatious has sought you out as he once did the great and wise Nicomedes."
  180. Vivian "Our first priority is to translate the message Josef acquired. Until then, we'll prep for an expedition. We have a good lead, at least." She'd muse softly.
  181. Makh_Chomun "Very well."
  182. Rosenkrantz_GM +My Lords+ Lieutenant Titus communicates
  183. Rosenkrantz_GM +The Grandier Navigators are reasonably certain of a stable route to Ksi Ascendant.+
  184. Calvin_Colonel +We shall return shortly.+
  185. Calvin_Colonel "Magos, what did the hammer say?"
  186. Josef "Unfortunately, I am unable to decode the message."
  187. Josef "I have it recorded onto the data-slate manually and the Servo-skull has the audio recordings."
  188. Calvin_Colonel "Very well."
  189. Calvin_Colonel "Farewell, Frater."
  190. Rosenkrantz_GM "The Emperor be with you."
  191. Makh_Chomun "And also with you."
  192. Josef "Praise be to the Omnissiah."
  193. Rosenkrantz_GM Armed with new information, you board the Consequence. Following the trail left behind by Nicomedes to Ksi Ascendant, where, it seems Nicomedes Keefe traced the Sacred Heart in his last days.
  194. Rosenkrantz_GM =====SKIPAROONI PEPPERONI======
  195. Rosenkrantz_GM After just over a month's worth of travel through the warp, and then real-space, the Consequence reaches high orbit around Ksi Ascendant. The surface of the planet is wreathed in a dense layer of fog that only occasionally parts to reveal the craggy terrain beneath, making it appear like a decrepit eye clouded by swirling cataracts.
  196. Makh_Chomun "Looks like a foggier version of home." Makh remarks from one of the many view-ports on the bridge.
  197. Rosenkrantz_GM The crew is reportedly uneasy about this. For the last week or so, there have been incidents regarding those who geniuinely dread this location.
  198. Rosenkrantz_GM "It's barren. As expected, no comms chatter of any kind," Titus notes.
  199. Baine_Mort "This is going to be fun for me." Mort comments
  200. Makh_Chomun "Worried you'll ruin your pallor?" Makh chuckles.
  201. Baine_Mort "More like I will trip and fall down a hill."
  202. Makh_Chomun "Not many hills on this planet. That is unless you plan on tripping on any stones."
  203. Baine_Mort "Yea well they could always be some cliff."
  204. Rosenkrantz_GM Through a focused sensor sweep, the Consequence is able to find an anomaly on the planet. A large area covered in material not found anywhere else on the surface. The coordinates are relayed to the flight crews.
  205. Rosenkrantz_GM A transport gun-cutter is prepared, carrying the men and supplies needed for the expedition ahead.
  206. Baine_Mort enters the gun-cutter with Officer Mike who is carrying additional weapons and provisions for him and makes his way to the cockpit.
  207. Vivian pats Mort's shoulder before she would come to sit in the co-pilot seat.
  208. Baine_Mort takes off once everyone is on board and flies the Gun-cutter to the planet, the trip goes smoothly and follows the sensors to the coordinates that were provided.
  209. Rosenkrantz_GM The atmosphere of Ksi Ascendant is a choking miasma of coiling white mist through which the vast shapes of towering, round boulders loom. Occasionally, the clouds part to reveal a blue sky and cast light upon the rocky ground beneath. The ground consists of smaller boulders, which sit on a flat span that extends as far as the eye can see. Despite the moisture in the atmosphere, the ground
  210. Rosenkrantz_GM is mostly dry.
  211. Rosenkrantz_GM Approaching one of the far larger boulders towering overhead, the mist thins and you finally get a clear look at its vast, glistening flanks. There are strange shapes etched into the rock -- fossils that cover the nearby boulders, the last traces of long-dead creatures. Strange, coiling forms laces with suckers, the fossils still represent some truly bizarre configuration of life. The
  212. Rosenkrantz_GM though slides eerily and uncomfortably across your mind --- do any of these creatures' descendants remain on the surface?
  213. Rosenkrantz_GM The House Guard gear up, and create a perimeter, checking their compasses for the direction in which they are to continue on foot.
  214. Rosenkrantz_GM One of the squads forms up at the opening of a narrow canyon, waiting for the main group.
  215. Rosenkrantz_GM The servitors clumsily carry supplies like pack animals.
  216. Baine_Mort takes the lead and begins to navigate the group
  217. Rosenkrantz_GM The group advances in a North-East direction for some time, through the canyon.
  218. Makh_Chomun +Heads on a swivel, be vigilant, etcetera boys and girls. You don't need me to tell you how to do your job.+
  219. Rosenkrantz_GM Cresting the peak of a mountainous boulder, the mist thins up ahead and a vast form takes shape in the distance. At fist, it seems yet another vast, stone outcrop, albeit the largest in the area by far.
  220. Vivian +Yes, Dad.+
  221. Rosenkrantz_GM The House Guard run ahead of the group, cautiously approaching the shape.
  222. Rosenkrantz_GM Then, the familiarity of the form makes itself apparent.
  223. Rosenkrantz_GM Though shattered and almost beyond recognition from this vantage, the formation can only be that of a voidship of human construction.
  224. Josef +A Father? Lord Chomun? He's is much too young for that situation to exist.+
  225. Makh_Chomun +Young? Maybe compared to you.+
  226. Rosenkrantz_GM This ship must once have been mighty indeed, but now it is laid low in deathly splendor. The /Sacred Heart/, for surely this is the vessel that the visions foretold, is crushed and burned, its spine broken and rigid.
  227. Vivian +Thank you for establishing that sarcasm is beyond you, Josef. What is that..? A voidship?+ She'd mumble, squinting a bit as she tried to make out what they were currently encountering. Not quite recognizing just what it was, just yet.
  228. Baine_Mort +Damn that must of been some crash landing.+ Mort says.
  229. Rosenkrantz_GM Its components all appear to be present, suggesting to your experienced eyes that the ship came down with its shields on or even beyond maximal output, otherwise it would have been consumed in the nucleonic fires of its drive section's death throes.
  230. Rosenkrantz_GM What class of vessel the /Sacred Heart/ might have been is not entirely clear. Certainly, she was no warship, though she was far from defenseless judging by the numerous gun turrets still visible across her broken flanks. Tarhter, she was some manner of transport, and from the remains of ther architectural forms adorning her remains, one constructed by or for the most pious servants of
  231. Rosenkrantz_GM the God-Emperor of Mankind.
  232. Rosenkrantz_GM From this vantage point, numerous cracks and rents are visible in the vessel's hull, any of which might present a means of gaining entry to her interior.
  233. Makh_Chomun "She's a right mess."
  234. Baine_Mort looks around and sees a hole in the ship and leads the group into it.
  235. Makh_Chomun "Good eye Mr. Mort."
  236. Baine_Mort +Eyes up people, don't know what we will find in here.+
  237. Baine_Mort +And thank you Chomun.+
  238. Rosenkrantz_GM The group makes its way up through the horrible opening on the side of the vessel.
  239. Vivian followed in at the start of the team- keeping close to Baine as they entered the ship. Though as she did, her gaze cut to the left, before she'd pause. +Hold. Wait a second. There's something wrong here. Look- + As she spoke, she'd point out along the wall. Blood. Fresh. +That.. That is fresh. Either this ship hasn't been here that long, or someone has gotten here before us and was attacked+
  240. Rosenkrantz_GM The House Guard move Vivian to the center of the formation, where both squads can cover her and the servitors.
  241. Rosenkrantz_GM +Orders, sir?+ they ask the Lord-Protector
  242. Makh_Chomun "Perhaps survivors of the crash? They made a new home on this world out of their old one."
  243. Makh_Chomun +Sweep and clear, be vigilant.+
  244. Baine_Mort +Well Fuck.+ Mort that hands off his Lasgun to Mike and takes his Presecutor Shotgun.
  245. Makh_Chomun +Once we know the immediate area around this little entrance is secure set up a perimeter 'til we figure out where to go from here.+
  246. Vivian frowns, resting her hand over her chainsword as she'd look around. "Try to keep from shooting if possible. We don't know the condition of the ship here. A shot might spark something."
  247. Josef pulls out his Eviscerator, Boltgun, and Power Axe.
  248. Rosenkrantz_GM You find yourselves inside the drive section of the Sacred Heart. The engines sustained enormous damage during the vessel's final moments. Most of the areas within the drive section are so utterly ruined they cannot be accessed, the area is claustrophobic, but nothing you are unfamiliar with.
  249. Makh_Chomun "Oh yeah, she's a mess. Worse on the inside than out."
  250. Rosenkrantz_GM The veteran voidsman, Mort, tries to take the party across a bit of wreckage. The group finds itself stalled trying to get across it.
  251. Rosenkrantz_GM +Gas!+ a house guardsman calls out.
  252. Rosenkrantz_GM Unfortunately, the leak hits Vivian.
  253. Baine_Mort +Good thing we all got our mask and helmets on.+
  254. Vivian flinched a bit at first- at the call. She somehow knew it- there was something wrong. Though soon after her suspicions arose, she started coughing up a fit at first. Burning. BURNING. It hurt. Quite a bit. Though soon after, she'd frown and seem to just.. Shake it off? Without missing a beat, she'd push past the guard surrounding her, mumbling something under her breath along the lines of...
  255. Vivian ..."Screw this" and "Invisible" "Can't see me" "Can't hit what you can't see". Things along those lines, if someone can even hear it.
  256. Baine_Mort turns to see Vivian moving away, +Hey Vivian, were are you going?+
  257. Vivian +How are you even talking to me.. you can't see me..+
  258. Baine_Mort +What are you talking about, you are right there, I can see you clear as day.+
  259. Vivian immediately turns to face Baine, before holding both her hands up in the sign of flying the middle finger. +You can't see this!" Then she'd stick her tongue out before turning and continuing forward- ahead of the group and away from them, at the rate she was going.
  260. Josef pulls out a Diagnostor and scans Lady Vivian's vital. He pulls out a injector with de-tox and stabs the Lady in the neck.
  261. Baine_Mort +Um, yes I can, and very appropriate Vivian.+
  262. Vivian whines immediately at the sharp pain in her neck, before she'd rip away and bring a hand up to her neck. "Fuck, Josef!! What the-.." Then she'd pause.. Taking a moment to fall quiet and recollect what just happened. "....Gas. Son of a fucking bitch." With that said, she'd flinch again before rubbing briefly at her throat. "...My lungs are on fire. Josef.. Can you assist, before I put a mask on?"
  263. Josef treats Lady Vivian's injuries.
  264. Vivian quietly thanks Josef for his most fantastic medical skills, then slips on a mask to be able to proceed, in case more gas was lingering.
  265. Rosenkrantz_GM You pass through a cloister-passageway. Where the companionways of the Sacred Heart differ from those on most other vessels is in the sheer mass of religious iconography adorning every surface. The passageways have the appearance of a corridor in an Ecclesiarchy shrine or cloister, along which silent brothers or sisters of the order would slowly process as they contemplated the finer points
  266. Rosenkrantz_GM of doctrine and penance.
  267. Rosenkrantz_GM The bulkheads lining the walls of the cloister-passatgeways are a mixture of stone and metal, intricately carved statues intermingled with impossibly chaotic masses of twisted cabling, pipes, valves, and control terminals.
  268. Rosenkrantz_GM Much of the stonework is damages, with large chunks missing from most of the statues and deep cracks running through the remainder. The metalwork is often buckled and corroded, and great streaks of brightly colored run-off shine through in certain places, the legace of the moisture content in the atmosphere.
  269. Rosenkrantz_GM All along the passageways are narrow portals leading into chambers, components, or other stretches of the network.
  270. Rosenkrantz_GM Many are jammes shut and cannot be opened, distortions inflicted when the Sacred Heart crashed sealing them for all time.
  271. Makh_Chomun "How's that for decorations? Shame they're in such bad shape"
  272. Baine_Mort +Yea they must of been a sight to see back before the ship crashed+
  273. Rosenkrantz_GM You continue on through the passageway. Pressing into this new area of the Sacred Heart, a vast library unfolds into the distant shadows. Row upon row of shelving recedes into the dark towers overhead, access granted by sliding ladders and narrow gantries. The tomes that once occupied the shelves must have been scattered when the Sacred Heart crashed, for they are now strewn across the
  274. Rosenkrantz_GM entire space. Looking down at the nearest, you see a volume laid open to reveal ornate, hand-written script. It has been illuminated by a master of the art, and is etched with scenes of war and faith.
  275. Makh_Chomun gingerly picks up the open book.
  276. Calvin_Colonel lights his flamer's pilot light
  277. Calvin_Colonel "Trouble ahead."
  278. Vivian paused, then calls out. +Scratching. I heard scratching.+
  279. Rosenkrantz_GM The penitents stick close to the missionary.
  280. Calvin_Colonel +An astute observation, my lady. I did as well.+
  281. Calvin_Colonel +Remember, the Hand of the Emperor Guides all.+
  282. Rosenkrantz_GM The House Guard finds cover for firing positions.
  283. Vivian turns and looks towards the shadows. +Over there. There's a humming. You heard it too, right?+
  284. Rosenkrantz_GM In this section of the ship only the sources of light you brought with you provide any illumination at all.
  285. Baine_Mort takes cover.
  286. Calvin_Colonel +From the shadows, yes.+
  287. Makh_Chomun leaves the book where he found it and moves up. He lights his powerfist up, little arcs of electricity dance along his fingers as it's activated.
  288. Vivian frowns, then rummages around in her bag for a moment.. Producing a glow-stick. Snapping it open, she'd hold it upwards.
  289. Calvin_Colonel stands tall against the dark, his armor gleaming in a way that probably prevents his cohorts' eyes from adjusting to the gloom properly
  290. Rosenkrantz_GM Out of nowhere, a disgusting mutated creature barely visible leaps out attacking Mort!
  291. Baine_Mort rolls out of the way before the mutated creature can hit him.
  292. Makh_Chomun "The party begins! Ohhhhhhhhhhh yeah!"
  293. Rosenkrantz_GM Another creature advances forth from in front, running towards the group.
  294. Josef madly charges the mutant flesh pile and slices the creature in half with the Eviscerator.
  295. Makh_Chomun The Arch-Militant counter-charges the mutant filth and impacts into it's side with his shoulder. Recovering quickly he reaches up and rips the scum's arm off and beats it to death with his free hand.
  296. Calvin_Colonel blasts at the mutant with his Bolt Pistol
  297. Vivian turns her head a bit, catching sight of a third mutant. Winding up her arm, she'd throw the glowstick she was holding to illuminate the third mutant.
  298. Rosenkrantz_GM It growls at the glowstick that lands in front of it, and then back at the group.
  299. Vivian raised up her needle pistol while the mutant growled, frowning as she'd fire at it. +Explosive round out!+
  300. Baine_Mort opens fire at the third mutant with his bolt pistol, hitting it in the leg and blowing it clean off.
  301. Baine_Mort +Well now we know what caused all that blood back there then.+
