- In a not so distant future, where overpopulation and famine have forced governments to undertake a drastic One-Child Policy, seven identical sisters (all of them portrayed by Noomi Rapace) live a hide-and-seek existence pursued by the Child Allocation Bureau. The Bureau, directed by the fierce Nicolette Cayman (Glenn Close), enforces a strict family-planning agenda that the sisters outwit by taking turns assuming the identity of one person: Karen Settman. Taught by their grandfather (Willem Dafoe) who raised and named them - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - each can go outside once a week as their common identity, but are only free to be themselves in the prison of their own apartment. That is until, one day, Monday does not come home.
- In a far and not so bright future when population boom leads to a shortage of food, water, and dwelling the government legislate on a one-child policy. At this tough time, identical septuplets (7 children born at the same time) are born and kept hidden by their grandfather. Lost their mother giving birth, and named after the days of the week, they're now trained to act like one person to keep their secret from the guards who are everywhere and check everyone at each corner of the streets. What happens to Monday brings on a lot of trouble to her siblings.
- The movie was awesome, i really liked it because the characters aren't stupid and they aren't't invencible like in some movies. I recommend everyone to see it, i cried. I liked the cast and everything, there were only some mistakes in the first half of the movie, that's why i give "What Happened to Monday" a 9 out of 10.
- Well, where to start... I really like Noomi Rapace and since her character from Prometheus was killed of in the sequel (the Covenant "masterpiece") has started a renewal of the interest in her movies (seen almost). Of course the grade is more for her not the movie (which might have been a 6ish), but it was not awful for what was, a relative cheap almost straight to video thriller. Of course it has plot holes and clichés, but look at the director (2 zombie Nazi movies and one about adult Hansel and Gretel fighting who knows what) and 2 almost anonymous writers. It did not promise anything and I feel that it delivered on a few things, unlike Alien Covenant.

Maybe you could have guessed that Monday betrayed the rest of the sisters but could you have known why. And the end is it really a happy one, as without the killing of the siblings the problem of population will resurface with a vengeance.

I clearly would like to see Ms Rapace back in Hollywood (not only as mutilated body). So please judge if you will but did I enjoy this.
- Wirkola, who’s best known for his two “Dead Snow” zombie movies, struggles to tackle a more serious-minded tone this time around.
