  1. I was introduced to the infinite world of technology when I was very young. I was (and still am) amazed by the limitless possibilities that are available. Although I had always been a big fan of technology, I didn't consider a career in it until a couple of years ago. I realized I didn't want to spend my days sitting at the same desk, doing meaningless work and killing time until I could go home. I want to innovate. I want to create new programs and technology that will improve the world for future generations. I'm ambitious and goal driven, which I think are two important qualities for a Schulich Leader. In 2018, I coached my city's U12 flag football team, and I've been coaching my school's junior high flag football team for the past two years. The U12 team gave me a great opportunity to give back to the team that I had once played on, and it not only helped me gain some coaching experience, but I was able to make an impact on the players I coached. I wanted to be able to pass down the knowledge and love that I have for the game to the next generation. One of the best feelings I've ever experienced was seeing almost every single one of those kids come back to play again the following year. One thing I didn't see coming, was when other players my age saw how meaningful coaching can be and were inspired to volunteer as coaches themselves. Coaching my school's team was enjoyable because we didn't have to focus on the fundamentals anymore. I had coached these players the year before which meant last year we were playing to win. Our school is very small and recruiting players is always challenging. We never had more than nine players at a game and sometimes we had only six. Ensuring I had my players respect was a challenge, as the oldest players on the team were only 2 years younger than I, but as the season progressed I bonded with my players and everyone was able to have fun. The team ended the season with an undefeated record and won the provincial championship. This experience helped me realize that I have the ability to lead and teach others. My leadership abilities and my love for technology combined last year when I had the chance to organize an international eSport event. Although it has a relatively small community, Krunker's competitive scene is flourishing. I was responsible for planning, advertising, and running nine separate tournaments which all took place in one weekend. We had teams competing from North America, Europe, and Australia. We held three tournaments with different rulesets for each region. I had to coordinate with game developers about the $3,000 USD they were contributing in prize money. The most challenging part of this experience was finding a time and date which would work for everyone. Not only the players, but also the game casters, referees, moderators and content creators. This tournament helped grow the organization I was volunteering for and also helped grow the entire competitive scene. The whole community has been able to learn from our mistakes during that event as well as all the things we did that worked. These experiences have shaped who I am today and who I will be in the future. In my eyes, a Schulich Leader is a leader in their community who is ambitious, hard-working, determined, and innovative. I believe I possess all of these attributes and I'm confident I would make a great Schulich Leader.
