  40. Definitions
  41. Elite roleplay: a higher standard of roleplay that we do on this server; more than just never breaking character (5/14/2016)
  42. Random Deathmatch (RDM): to kill someone without proper initiation, to revenge-kill someone
  43. Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM): to intentionally kill someone with your vehicle or using your vehicle as a weapon when not under a direct threat
  44. Refusing to roleplay (Fail RP): refusing to roleplay out a situation that you or someone else started with you, speaking out of character (e.g. “green zone,” “banning,” “server”),utilization of in-game mechanics to disrupt roleplay, powergaming (saying you're doing something that the game doesn't allow you to do), etc. (5/9/2016)
  45. Save Humanity Rule (SHR): covered later
  46. Green Zone Violation (GZV): covered later
  47. Debug Zone Violation (DZV): going onto Debug Island
  48. Law Enforcement Officer (LEO)
  49. Emergency Medical Services (EMS/EMT/medic)
  50. Trolling: intentionally bad roleplay, intentionally disrupting gameplay
  51. Combat logging: to alt-F4 out of the game or logging out to avoid a roleplay situation
  52. Metagaming: using outside information that your in-game character has no way of knowing, to use someone’s stream for information, to see someone log into the server and know they are on the island
  53. Roleplay over ruleplay: valuing roleplay over following the rules (either serverwide or Standard Operating Procedures) to the letter for the greater purpose of a story and which enriches everyone's involvement in the roleplay; this includes skirting the rules and not contributing to roleplay because the rules do not specify a situation exactly
  54.
  55. Kickable/Bannable Offenses
  56. The following are kickable or bannable offenses:
  57. RDM, VDM
  58. Fail RP
  59. Combat logging
  60. Breaking Save Humanity Rule (SHR)
  61. Spamming the car shop to spawn in more than 1 car at the same time.

  63. EMS-related violations (harm to medics/stealing vehicles, etc.)
  64. Entering the Debug Zone (DZV)
  65. Going out of character (OOC) at any time outside of the OOC Island
  66. Keyboard controls should not be given out in-game. Read about our keyboard controls.
  67. Breaking/interrupting roleplay to follow the rules or determine if you're following the rules (i.e. not following "roleplay over ruleplay")
  68.
  69. General Server Rules
  70. General Rules
  71. Administrators have the final say in all matters.
  72. Server restarts do not break or end roleplay.
  73. Moving people in and out of objects must be done within the confines of logic and reason.
  74. Sexism, racism, homophobia, and derogatory terms are never permitted within our community and will result in severe punishment.
  75. No exploiting or bug abusing, e.g. duping.
  76. No meta-gaming, e.g. using outside game information.
  77. You may not tow another vehicle to gain extra trunk space.
  78. Notes cannot be exploited as a way to block the roads. Notes being used for any other reason besides its intended purpose is considered exploiting.
  79. Helicopters need to use proper landing. Landing in the middle of the cities is not allowed.
  80. Side chat may be used for advertisements of legitimate in-game businesses and events, but not to ask OOC questions (e.g. "where's the market"). Spamming is against the rules. You also may not advertise something that is already sent out to everyone (e.g. paintball match).
  81. Do not use the side chat to hold conversations via text.
  82. Karts are to be used on the Dartmouth Raceway only.
  83. Never attempt to visit an area marked "No Fly Zone" other than its intended use.
  84. Roleplay Rules
  85. Roleplay is of the utmost importance here at Humanity. It should be the main focus of everyone on the server, and it is up to every person to make sure they're upholding a higher standard of roleplay.
  86. You must value your own life and those around you at all times.
  87. You must act as if real life. No unrealistic actions, e.g. moving whilst knocked out, texting while restrained. Civilians need roleplay reasons to do crime, just like in real life.
  88. You must consider your surroundings and take into account the environment, e.g. no causing harm to passersby.
  89. No Green Zone Violations (GZV).
  90. There is no such thing as a double life. You are the same person, off- or on-duty in any capacity.
  91. Must be out of roleplay situations for 15 minutes before using the travel agent. This does not apply to just joining the server.
  92. As there are no trains in Erie County, "taking the train" by relogging is breaking character.
  93. Soundboards are allowed to be used as a way to play music inside of a car only.
  94. You may adopt children or RP that you've had a child (within reason).
  95. Families should be not be excessive (e.g. 5 players with the last name "James" related to Kate James).
  96. Roleplaying consensual intercourse is not permitted and will result in permanent removal. (5/9/2016)
  97. Crime/Hostile Rules
  98. As we are an "elite roleplay" server, you must roleplay a reason for doing crime (e.g. stealing cars, robbing other players). Being poor is not a good enough roleplay reason. If you are found doing crime without properly roleplaying out your character's development, it is considered fail roleplay. (5/8/2016)
  99. Proper initiation must be made at all times before hostile actions. (Quick phrases to start vocal initiation is not proper initiation, e.g. "stop or die," "freeze," or "there's a baby on your roof.")
  100. It is your responsibility to ensure your group has committed proper initiation. You personally must be initiated, and you need to make sure the people around you have been initiated, too. Group initiation does not exist on this server.
  101. Hostile initiation lasts for 10 minutes after line of sight has been lost.
  102. Hostile initiation must take place outside of a vehicle.
  103. You must pose a physical threat when initiating hostile roleplay.
  104. You may not initiate with occupants of a vehicle after a car collision unless proper initiation has previously taken place.
  105. EMS and EMS vehicles and gear are classed as non-combatants.
  106. Everybody who has been knocked down and picked up by EMS are in EMS custody until told otherwise.
  107. Walking in on purpose active firefights or hostile action with the intent to be shot upon or downed without due cause will be marked as Fail RP.
  108. Roleplaying rape or sexual assault is not permitted and will result in permanent removal. (5/9/2016)
  109. No forced ATM withdrawal.
  110. No random acts of terrorism.
  111. A member of your group/party may not act as or be portrayed as a hostage.
  112. You may not CPR someone that you have malicious intent for; e.g. reviving somebody, then robbing them for equipment.
  113. You may not crash into someone to start an initiation.
  114. Hostages must be provided with above average RP & remain in direct contact with hostiles so his/her experience isn't damaged.
  115. You may only rob the bank/jewelry store when a minimum of 5 cops are online.
  116. You may only rob stores when a minimum of 3 cops are online.
  117. You may only do a jail break when a minimum of 5 cops are online.
  118. You may not steal police uniforms or their tasers. Tasers are guns when used by a civilian. (Ban: exploiting)
  119. Assault rifles, excluding the SDAR, are not to be used on the server ever. Kelley's Island is not a warzone. This is an "exploiting" ban because you cannot get assault rifles on the island without using a bug. (5/14/2016)
  120.
  121. Medic Rules
  122. If you would like to join the EMS department you must apply here with a medic application.
  123. Medics may not commit any crimes or engage in hostile situations.
  124. Medics may go off-duty as a civilian and thus are subject to being robbed/killed.
  125. Medics should wear their medic uniforms at all times when on-duty so they can easily be identified.
  126. Medics are not to revive or stabilize during a firefight.
  127. Medics may not assist people in custody as an escape from jail-time.
  128. Medics must stay equal party and thus cannot inform cops/civilians of anything which may cause harm to the opposition.
  129.
  130. LEO Rules
  131. If you would like to join any LEO department you must apply here with a LEO application.
  132. You must be 18 years old to apply for LEO.
  133. As a part in the police, you are not allowed to give or sell official police equipment. This will result in a permanent ban from the server.
  134. Cops are a pivotal part within the community and thus LEO must uphold a high standard of roleplay. Failure to follow this will result in your removal from the LEO.
  135. Sending people to prison must be done within the confines of prison.
  136. You are allowed to use your LEO vehicle megaphone if equipped on marked vehicles only to speak to citizens.
  137. LEO may never fire upon a fleeing suspect for any reason.
  138. Cops cannot impound their own vehicle.
  139. Martial law can NEVER be declared.
  140.
  141. Gang Rules
  142. If you would like to join a gang, you must be approved and must be posted in the appropriate forum.
  143. Gangs are only official when the in-game crime syndicate boss approves them.
  144. All gang members must adhere to the same laws as civilians at all times.
  145. As a gang, you must not in any way hinder any LEO from being able to do their duties for the general public, e.g. blocking any LEO department gates or drives.
  146. As a gang, you are not allowed to have a peace treaty with any other gang on the server.
  147. Gangs are limited to 5 gang members online at once.
  148. Alliances are prohibited unless to unify to fight against world artificial intelligence.
  149. Roleplay initiation is required even if you're "at war" with another gang. You are not automatically initiated.
  150. Gangs can be disbanded by the in-game crime syndicate boss.
  151.
  152. Business Rules
  153. Business applications must be approved and must be posted in the appropriate forum.
  154. Businesses are confined to legal services whilst gangs are tailored to illegal services.
  155. Businesses must forfeit their company when RP isn't being upheld or used (e.g. lack of customers, inactive CEO).
  156. Law enforcement hold the right to temporary shut down businesses with due cause.
  157. All employees must adhere to the same laws as civilians at all times.
  158. As a business, you must not in any way hinder any LEO from being able to do their duties for the general public, e.g. blocking any LEO department gates or drives or disturbing the flow of their actions. However, this doesn't include private law firms, etc.
  159. If a business loan or grant is given to the business by the government, that money cannot be used for illegal purposes. The money must be purchased for the items in the business loan proposal or the business owner's assets may be seized by the government and the business disbanded.
  160.
  161. Save Humanity Rule
  162. Save Humanity Rule only applies if you are revived by a medic.
  163. You must not return within 500m of where you died while any gunfight is still in progress. 15 minutes after the gunfight, you may return to that place. Being revived by a medic does not allow you to remember the whole RP scenario and thus you must vacate the area (500m).
  164. If revived by a fellow citizen, you may remember the RP scenario but still cannot revenge kill or re-engage in hostile RP with the people involved in the scene. It is your responsibility to know who is hostile and who isn’t.
  165. Wanted list is persistent. You will know you are still wanted if not pardoned or sent to prison.
  166. If you respawn, you then get a “new life,” but under no circumstances are you to return the scene of your previous death or are you to remember any of the Roleplay that lead up to your previous death.
  167. Once someone is revived, they cannot be re-engaged in hostile roleplay by the same people.
  168. Medics are technically a green zone, as the area is cleared by the time they are reviving or healing people.
  169.
  170. Green Zones
  171. There are a number of green zones highlighted on the map. Green Zones are crime-free areas. You may not initiate any hostile act or intentions within a Green Zone. Trolling within a Green Zone will not be tolerated. Running into a Green Zone will not save you from initiation that took place outside of the Green Zone previously. A Green Zone may not protect you from any LEO pursuit/being questioned by an LEO. If you are wanted or are being chased by the police for committing a crime and you enter a no-crime zone they are still allowed to enter and carry out their duties.
  172. Areas which are affected by such:
  173. ATMs
  174. Debug Island
  175. Any NPCs (e.g. traders, processors, shops)
  176.
