A short picnic

''Sunny! Breakfast's ready!'' a voice reached Sunny's ears and woke him up as he laid down on the bed where he had been sleeping since he came back for Summer vacation to Faraway to hang out with his old friends. He was against it at first but Hero's insistence wore his defenses down and honestly no one can resist that damned smile of his. Sunny smiles a bit remembering how much Hero wanted him to come to see them again, it made him feel like he was back in the past for a moment. He decides to stay with that thought and not go further into it to not dampen his mood at all. After all, he has plans for today with Hero.

Sunny gets off his bed and goes to the bathroom to take a quick shower, brush his teeth even though he hasn't eaten anything yet but it became a habit for him to do it everytime. He finishes and slips into clothes that look exactly the same as the ones he usually wears. Some people would tell him that he needs to have a more varied wardrobe but he doesn't really care, he feels comfortable like this so he will keep dressing like this. He comes down the stairs and the tasty smell of Hero's breakfast fills his nose and makes him move a bit faster towards the kitchen.
''Hey Sunny! I finished cooking our breakfasts and Kel already left to play in the park with his friends on the basketball team so you are free to eat at your pace. No worry about Kel eating your food haha.'' says Hero as he sits down with his own plate of bacon and eggs although it's quite the small portion and the same can be said about Sunny's but it's understandable they have somewhere to be at after all so being full wouldn't make a lot of sense. ''Thank you for the meal Hero.'' Sunny replies but Hero just flashes him a smile and tells him to not worry about it. Sunny feels a blush creeping up and puts his head down and starts to eat. As they finish eating Hero gets up to collect some stuff they will need for what they plan to do. Normally when they did a picnic they would invite everyone else too but this time Sunny and Hero would have one just the two of them, well they wouldn't be completely alone anyways.

As Sunny finishes his plate he washes his hands and starts to help Hero with the preparations needed. They were planning on making sandwiches and Sunny helped as much as he could although it just ended up being Hero doing everything while Sunny talked with him. Sunny felt bad but Hero assured him it was ok and that he preferred making the food himself anyways. They finish packing everything into Mari's picnic basket which they have been taken the utmost care of to make sure nothing happens to it again and start heading towards the destination. On their way there Hero asks Sunny a question:
''Why did you wanna go there with just the two of us? Wouldn't it be more fun if we call Aubrey, Kel, and Basil too?'' to which Sunny only replies with a shrug. ''I have my reasons,'' says Sunny which only leaves Hero wondering what this is about even more.

As they reach the church Sunny notices Hero starts breathing a bit heavy but when he tries to mention something about it to Hero, Hero just replies with I am okay and refuses to continue talking about it. Sunny has tried for a bit to get Hero to open up more about how he feels but Hero always shuts him and anyone else who tries down, so this was Sunny's last plan, if this doesn't work nothing will and well he also enjoyed spending time with Hero so everyone would win if it works. They greet the priest who just smiles at them and continues with his work and they enter the graveyard and head towards the tombstone of the person who they loved.

They put the picnic mat on the ground and sit down and for a moment there's nothing but silence but it's not an awkward silence. It's a comfortable silence of being at peace even through the pain they might feel.

''Hey, Mari.'' says Hero breaking the silence. ''We are gonna have a picnic here with you if you don't mind.'' Sunny notices some tears forming in Hero's eyes and feel his own forming but he knows this is not the time to cry. Not yet at least. ''Hey, Hero...'' Hero breaks out of his small trance like state of looking at the tombstone and looks at Sunny who is trying to wipe the tears forming in his eyes to which Hero responds to why hugging Sunny and bringing him closer to him. Sunny is surprised but he has always loved the feeling of Hero's warmth and how safe he feels and so he remembers what he came here to do. ''Hero, please let me in.'' Hero is dumbfounded by the question not understanding what Sunny means. ''In? In where Sunny? You know you are more than free to come see me anytime remember? Your new house isn't that far from where I'm studying now. You can come see me if you ever need help or anything.'' Sunny just hugged him back harder and answered back ''I mean let me in your heart. Let us in your heart.'' My heart? thought Hero, what is Sunny saying? ''I'm sorry Sunny I don't think I understand what you want.'' he says and looks at him with confused eyes. Sunny is about to cry but he looks at Mari's grave and that gives him the bit of strength he needs to fully say what he wants to say. ''I want you to tell me how you feel Hero. You are always there for us b-but we are never there for you. You don't let us be there for you, you are always just fine when we ask and you never need anything. You are not a robot Hero, I know you feel and I know you need as well and I-I want to be there for you just like you have always been there for me.'' Hero is speechless and doesn't know what to answer and just keeps hugging Sunny.  Sunny continues, ''I care about you a lot Hero and I know I'm nothing like you but I still want to be your hero like you are to me.'' Hero's tears start flowing out a bit and fall on Sunny's head and he just replies with a weak ''I am sorry Sunny, I don't want you to feel like this because of me. I just don't want you guys to have to worry about me. I am the oldest one remember? I have to be the one you guys can depend on.'' Sunny just shakes his head and hugs his head harder and whispers a soft, ''I already depend on you, I just want you to feel the same about me.'' Hero and Sunny just kept hugging for a bit with no other words being said and Sunny ends up resting his head on Hero's soft lap to which Hero responds by petting his head. Some time passes and Sunny seems to have fallen asleep. ''He must have been exhausted doing all that... I'm sorry Sunny,'' whispered Hero to not wake up the little boy although he is not so little now who now used his lap as a pillow. ''I'm afraid I will hurt you or anyone if I show my emotions you know? My emotions aren't the best and I already hurt someone I love with them so I don't want to commit the same mistake.'' He just felt his free hand be grabbed by Sunny's and heard a small It's ok and he kept holding his hand and they stayed like this for some time.

Hero continued to pat Sunny's head and noticed how peaceful and cute he looked while resting. He made sure to only think about the last part and never say it, the last thing he would want is his feelings hurting the group more so he kept what he felt about Sunny hidden too but at this moment at the grave of one of the people he loved the most. His mind wasn't as strong so he thought he is asleep so it's ok right? He looks at Mari's tombstone to gather some more courage and strength and starts letting his heart speak. ''I... I love you Sunny. I'm really glad you care so much about me because I do too. It's a bit selfish but I want you to be happy but I want to be the one to make you happy. My heart aches when I don't see you, that's why I wanted you to come see me at my dorm anytime you wanted. I want to be with you at all times but I know that you might not want that but just knowing that you care this much about me really makes me happy Sunny. I never want to let you go, I want to be here with you forever.'' Hero finishes and looks down and to his dismay, he sees Sunny looking straight at him with a surprised face. Hero felt his entire body turn into jelly as he realizes that Sunny just heard everything he felt. Sunny on his side cannot believe his ears, he feels like he is back in headspace hearing what he wants to hear. His body doesn't move and he can just look into Hero's eyes which now looked even more beautiful than ever. Hero tries to stammer out something out of his mouth but can't find the words and decides to just hug Sunny again. His heart aching with worry but also with anticipation. Sunny feels his body warm up so much he thinks he must be releasing steam from his ears or something similar. He knows that he has to say something so Sunny musters all his strength, remembers how he felt when he told them the truth. Remembers how Hero just hugged him with tears in his eyes and told him that he forgave him, that no matter what Hero would still be there for him. He wouldn't commit the mistake of leaving them to suffer alone anymore. So Sunny, with all his power said the one thing that came into his mind.

''I love you too Hero.'' and he felt how Hero's hug intensified even more and they decided to stay in the hug for a while until they felt a bit tired and decided to just lay down on the mat and look at the clouds. Their bodies close together and their hearts closer still made them feel like this moment would never end and they truly wished for it to never end.
