- [01:04] Despair asks, "Shall we?"
- [01:04] Rindou Sakamoto says, "Yes."
- [01:07] The Ultovexian would turn to his side. It takes but moments, but a rift would open in the air and his clawed hand would reach in. An object would be drawn from within the tear in the worldscape, looking similarly to a cube which would be held in his hand.
- "You know wha' rift is. It is the tearin' of the lifestream to get from point a to point b at a faster rate. Ya open a whole in one area, an' step through at another, transferin' space at a faster time."
- The cube would be held by Rindou.
- "An' we start tha' wit' this cube."
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:08] Rindou looks at the cube presented before her for a moment before she looked up towards Sors once again. It was obvious that she was confused with the task at hand, though she did grab the cube before she spoke up in response.
- "How so?" She asked, only to elaborate on her question. "Is this cube special?"
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:11] The cube would be taken, and at that moment, she would be able to feel her mana being drained by it. The object seemed to be somewhat forged out of cold-iron and tyruim, draining properties on mana coming from the interior.
- "Yes. It's a cube tha' drains your mana. An' by puttin' your mana into it it emits a light. The mor' mana ya put into it, the brighter the light, but as quick as ya put it in, it drains it."
- "The point o' this exercise is ta exert enough mana ta create a bright light while also bein' able ta put up wit' the amount tha' is drained from you."
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:15] The woman didn't quite understand the purpose behind it all. Was this... an exercise to get used to a certain strain? If something like that was required then it meant that tearing space apart was defintely more difficult than what she thought. A slight frown appeared on her features before she felt its ability to eat at her mana the moment she tried to test it out.
- It was hungry. Immensely so.
- The noblewoman quietly focused on putting just enough mana to make it glow while losing it rapidly. She had to get used to the high-powered, high-stake kind of training at first if she wanted anything good to come out of it.
- "I see..."
- It wasn't very impressive.
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:20] The Ultovexian would let her look over the cube for a few seconds, letting her get used to the drain. His arms crossed over his chest.
- "Every moment tha' ya try ta tear open the lifestream, the lifestream is gon push back ta keep itself closed. It's at a stronger level then jus' this cube, I assure ya. The cube is an example o' a low level push. It'll drain ya magic jus' like the lifestream will try ta close itself."
- "Get used ta this, an' ya get used ta the drain o' the lifestream. Easy 'nough ta understand now?"
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:24] It made more sense the way he said it. The lifestream had this ability to regenerate that was unparalleled; it's what made phoenixes what they were and what made the world stable. Even vile magic couldn't remain forever on Agartha without being mended one day or another. This was like fighting against a pushing wave or something.
- A nod was given to Sors while she tried to occupy her mind on something less, pouring in more mana to make the cube glow brighter - feeling the drain being just as quick regardless.
- "What about... the other thing?"
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:27] The Ultovexian would cross his arms.
- "I hav' an ability. Le's call it, an affinity fer deals. I can grant ya certain power, extra power ta help ya master rift at a faster rate then ya would otherwise. But it's a real difficult power."
- "A risky one. One tha' requires a certain objective. Fer instance, in exchange fer a large boost o' power, ya would hav' ta take out a certain person fer ma. You would be granted additional power for the purposes o' tha' contract. However,"
- "If you failed, there would b painful lastin' effect on ya body. In exchange however, the power is capable o' grantin' almost miracles."
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:31] Rindou didn't seem too enamored by a deal like this one. A slight squint was given as she kept on trying to pour more and more mana into the cube, fighting back against its effects and making it glow in the midst of the night - all while the deal was being explained.
- "Do I get to know who it is before I accept?" She asked, only to further push the question. "And is there a time limit?"
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:34] The Ultovexian would nod.
- "Ya would find out who the target was prior ta acceptin'. An' it wouldn't b a single target. It would b ya choice o' a couple. Higher ranks in militaries dead in exchange fer power o' thangs otherwise not easily accessable."
- "It would also hold a time limit. A set number o' years before it would leave the painful effect o' failure. But honest?"
- "At this moment, I ain't think there's a strong 'nough pull fer ya ta accept. Wha's mostly easiest fer ma is tradin' life fer life."
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:37] Rindou couldn't quite understand what Sors meant by that pull or what might've been easiest. It was all.. messy, really. But a good distraction for her own dwindling mana reserves. She pursued the subject in order to forget that pain and to pursue this power. She most definitely wouldn't be able to function well so long as Sors' influence roamed within her mind, whispering to her.
- "What do you mean trading life for life? What do you mean by pull I—"
- She breathed in, then out. She frowned.
- "... I need to become stronger. To be able to have what I deserve. To not let the likes of Calael stop me in my decisions. To go through my life as I want it to be."
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:42] It would be an oddity. The depression inside of Rindou's mind would sit like a fog while he paid no attention to her. However while they talked like this, it seemed like it would be lifted, like her mind would be more clear due to his presence, but only while it was.
- "To trade life ta revive life. Tha' kind o' thang is easier. But there are other kinds o' thangs tha' are also what easier ta pull off."
- "While the contract is in effect, ya would b granted additional power. But when it ends, ya would only hav' a boost as to wha' we agreed ta previous to the contract. But we could make multiple, if such was ya desire."
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:44] The cube flared up at first. The training was going better with the raw output of emotions that she was feeling while speaking to that man, leaving her to seek out more and more of that power - of that strength. When the option of taking multiple contracts was given she practically lost her mind.
- "I'll take them. All. I need as much as I can have."
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:46] "It would not b all at once. But we can talk details at a latta time. It'd take a lil ta work out the full terms o' the contract, but it is good ta know ya interested innit."
- "It will b noted fer the future fer ya. An' also should b good practice fer the use o' ya rift magic." He would watch the cube flare up, and be drained repeatedly.
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:49] The young woman couldn't help but agree. This was power and the opportunity to practice something else all at once. Though she was nothing but a novice when it came to Riftmancy - basically knowing nothing but the principle behind it - she could still find practice and... occasions out of those fights, right?
- Rindou could only hope this was going to work out.
- As the cube flared up one last time the light it shed out was starting to die off. Bit by bit it dimmed, as did Rindou's own reserves.
- ".. Of course."
- She could hardly wait.
- (Rindou Sakamoto)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:51] "Good. I'll get the list an' ya will b able ta hear who before ya accept the contract. The list o' names should b long 'nough fer a decent selection an' it'll giv' ya a way ta practice ya rfitomancy."
- The cube flared up then dimmed as Rindou's reserves seemed to fully come to an end. Dusk and Aurum would stare towards her in silence for more moments.
- "Should I b 'xpectin' mor' outbursts in the future?"
- (Despair)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [01:52] Rindou Sakamoto says, ".. Definitely."
