- Description: The goal of MTT Industries is to build a functional artificial intelligence capable of directly interfering with the Source Code of Reality, filling the hole left by the Overseer's slumber and subsequent inability to interfere with the Source Code himself. Using O.R.C.H.I.D. technology, Project Binary is to manipulate the Source Code to serve the Conflict's needs, bringing about the swift end of reality. The project was blessed by all hands of the Overseer, and his Infinite Eye.

Project Binary was an immense undertaking. Its development is closely intertwined with the history of Aperture Science. Initial prototypes were labelled "Genetic Lifeform and Disk-Based Operating System," or "GLaDOS." Back before the plans for O.R.C.H.I.D., the idea was to utilize the mindscape and consciousness of a living being (preferably that of a ninth-dimensional) to control and direct the A.I. This project fell through when all funding and resources were used for Project Seven-X-Seven. "GLaDOS" was finished independently by Aperture Science workers, and was used to run the facility.

After the destruction of GLaDOS, MTT Industries returned to Aperture Science, working with the U.S. government to complete the project. The new design called for the power core, whose design was highly unstable, experimental, hyperdimensional, and worst of all, completely theoretical. Not even the Overseer could understand how to craft the components necessary. Work continued on with Project Binary until a reasonable facsimile of the power core was created.

Upon the activation of the Project, it was shown that the dummy power core was nowhere near enough to power the whole thing. It severely limited the A.I.'s brainpower, leaving it mentally stunted and without any capability to modify the Source Code of Reality at all. The A.I. was promptly depowered. Extensive work on debugging the A.I. has begun, in hopes of kickstarting the thing and getting it to work without an actual power core.
