- Hyoketsu - Former Moon Guardian and part of Gesshoku's Triumvirate. Trained in ninjutsu, he can create ice and wields a large shuriken weapon. Very serious and even tempered, but hates being embarrassed.
- Other Characters:
- Each world has an NPC that talks to you between levels, each with a different look and personality. They only appear in dialogue scenes.
- Jess Hopper - A farmer from Garden Moon.
- Chef Moleswain - Head chef of Sugar Moon.
- Model 5A1 - Caretaker of Factory Moon.
- Abilities:
- Do-don! - Mochi swings Don in an overhead swing, allowing them to squish various objects and enemies. Every squishable enemy and object has a unique reaction! Using it in the air will cause Mochi to plummet down, performing a super slam that can affect some stronger objects and enemies.
- Ba-bam! - Mochi swings Don sideways, hitting forward and lower. Can interact with things like rolling objects and lower enemies. It can also be used while moving, turning it into a spinning swing! It also becomes a spinning swing while in the air.
- Ear-lastics! - Mochi stretches her ears out, allowing her to swing from Moon Rings or lift up and pull objects.
- Moon Jump! - A chargeable jump that allows Mochi to reach incredible heights. Takes a few seconds to charge, and can only be used from a crouch.
- Items:
- Moon Sparkles - The manifestation of the shine of the moon. These litter levels, and collecting them boosts your score, which determines your rank at the end of each level.
- Lunar Rods - Rods made of crystal that look suspiciously like large carrots, and are used to power your spaceship and let you move on to other worlds. Three are hidden in each level, while 3 more can be obtained by reaching certain score thresholds! Boss levels give out one for beating the boss, and two more for additional challenges (time trial and perfect runs). In total, there are 273 in the game.
- Moon Medals - Medals awarded for reaching the highest score threshold in a level. They don't do anything other than make level icons turn shiny.
- Sparkle Boosts - A large Moon Sparkle that boosts the points given by regular Moon Sparkles for a limited time.
- Rice Bun - A bun made of rice, decorated to look like a little rabbit. They're Mochi's favorite food! Pick one up to restore your health.
- Objects:
- Moon Rings - Floating energy rings that manifest across all moons. Mochi can use her stretchy ears to swing from them and get to places she couldn't reach before!
- Mortos - Burrowing, wooden creatures native to every moon. They sleep above ground, and can be pounded back into the ground with a Da-don, but they spring back up quickly! Pound them into the ground, then stand on top of one, and you can be launched up even higher than a Moon Jump!
- Bumpps - Native moon creatures that are invulnerable to almost everything... except being thrown at things. They're completely round, and are used as projectiles by most hostile creatures, if they have no other form of weaponry. Bumpps can be whacked with a Ba-bam or picked up and thrown with Mochi's ears! Do-dons will do nothing to them. They will spawn out of Bumpp Burrows (or sometimes tubes), but only one Bumpp from a burrow can exist at a time. They're shy!
- Bitevines - Moon plants that grow from the ceiling, and will attempt to snap at you if you get too close and disturb their rest. Da-don'ing them will slam them into the ground, plunging their teeth into whatever is below, whether that be a platform or an enemy, and then retract upwards. This allows you to create platforms that can carry you upwards, or move obstacles out of the way!
- Squisheez - Large moon creatures that love nothing more than to crush anything that comes underneath them. Anyt object that wanders underneath them will be squished, activate the Do-don effect they would usually have. Mochi herself can be squished, temporarily compressing her into a smaller form that can't attack, but can traverse through tighter areas.
- Enemies:
- Eclipsers - Round, dark monsters that have been created by Gesshoku. The basic form of them has them simply try to run into Mochi. Either type of swing will kill them, making them explode into Sparkles, but a Ba-bam swing will also launch them as a projectile.
- Spike Eclipsers - Fully round Eclipsers covered in spikes, aside from their single eye. They remain stationary, but can be hit with a Do-don swing in order to cause the spikes retract. From there, you can either pick them up and throw them with your Ear-lastic ability, Ba-bam them to launch them as a projectile, or just Do-don them to squish and pop them. They only stay retracted for a short time, however.
- Shell Eclipsers - Eclipsers wearing hard shells, protecting them from being Do-don'd, but leaving them open to a Ba-bam! After one hit, they become regular Eclipsers.
- Bumpp Eclipsers - Eclipsers that carry a Bumpp with them. They'll throw the Bumpp if you get too close, and are always situated near Bumpp Burrows. They are usually situated high up, and will become shocked if you manage to catch their thrown Bumpps. So throw it back at em!
- Flutter Eclipsers - Eclipsers that have lost their limbs and grown wings! They move towards you in an attempt to ram you, and at much faster speeds than their grounded counterparts. Use any aerial attack to take care of them. They can't be turned into projectiles, however.
