Father Son Dinner

AlexithymiaaAlexithymiaa : -Steph was fussing about the kitchen trying to get everything settled and ready for them to sit down and eat. She'd been set back a little by trying to fit her therapy appointment in today, but she'd still managed to bake homemade breadsticks, make her own sauce with lasagna, and bake brownies for dessert. When the timer went off, she leaned over to pull the lasagna out of the oven, setting it down on top of the stove to rest for a few minutes, turning back to go about finishing off the salad. She was considerably more concerned with making a good impression on Benji now that Felix actually wanted him around.-
Covet: Felix was pretty much basking in the delicious smells of the house. "Have I mentioned how happy I am to be marrying you. This already feels like heaven." He said, leaning over the island to watch her work. // Benji was driving and on his way having to shower after working at the Cafe that day, he smelled like comercial kitchen food and grease, and didn't want to show up looking like that.
Alexithymiaa: "Once or twice." She said with a grin as she started to mix and toss the salad so all the ingredients were properly distributed. "Why don't you make yourself useful and set the table?"-
Covet: "Because I am making myself useful by giving you a stunning view while you mosey about the kitchen. Course, in that dress you're doing pretty good at returning that view." He said looking her over, being a shit, and not setting the table. "Plus it will take me forever with just one working arm. But I SUPPOSE I can do that." He said getting up. // Pulling into the drive way, Benji parked his vehicle and climbed out making his way to the door.
Alexithymiaa: -She picked up the knife, pointing it at him. "Yeah, I think you can handle it." She gave him a look before she set the salad to the side. Hearing Benji's car pull into the driveway, she started over for the door, pulling it open to greet him. "Just in time. I just took the lasagna out of the oven."-
Covet: Felix stuck his tongue out as she brandished the knife at her, reaching up into the cupboard to get the plates down, since it was only three it wasn't too bad. He grabbed the silverware out of the drawer and stacked it on the plates, then carried over to the table. // He smiled and gave a nod, "Thanks, I was hoping I wasn't too late, Sorry to push back the time on you guys, they needed me to cover a couple extra hours." He walked inside and took his jacket off, placing it on the back of the chair in the dining room.
Alexithymiaa: "It's fine, it just gave me some extra time to get dinner ready. If you'd have gotten here any earlier you'd just be sitting around collecting pet hair on your clothes." She shut the door behind him, watching as the dogs went running over to him to greet him because literally the worst guard dogs ever. "You've met Penny and Nugget."-
Covet: "Hey, you still made it and don't worry it will still be worth the wait, this woman is a goddess when it comes to italian food." Felix told him as he passed the dishes out, and went back to get the glasses for everyone. // "It smells delicious and way better than diner food." He said with a chuckle, "It's been a while since I had a truely home made meal, so you can bet I'll appreciate it three times as much." Benj said to them. "Yeah I remember these pups, pretty friendly as always."
Alexithymiaa: "Hey, I had to learn something from my family other than being incredibly stubborn and how to curse like a sailor." She said as she walked back into the kitchen, transferring the breadsticks into a little basket to walk over to the table. "Just a couple of rules. The moment you sit down you'll have a couple of boys at your feet. Don't feed them. Harvey gets special fat cat food."-
Covet: "And Don't feed Nugget, he's already had his dinner." Felix said as he walked back to the table, putting the glasses out for the water to be poured into. "It's honestly why I'm marrying her." // Benji laughed and shook his head, "Alright, don't feed the animals, I can handle that." Then he sat down and waited patiently, "Hey, there are worse things you could inherit." He said jokingly, but kind of serious. Self loathing comedy.
Alexithymiaa: (Ahh self loathing comedy. Something they're all familiar with.)
Alexithymiaa: -Setting the breadsticks on the table, she made her way back over to the lasagna, cutting pieces to put onto a serving tray and setting that on the table too. "Yes of all my many endearing qualities, my complete obsession with feeding him is his favorite." She said with a laugh as she sat down. "I think I did inherit them, but I've figured out how to balance my lack of tact more than the rest of my family. Sort of. Sometimes."-

Covet: Felix laughed at Steph's attempt to talk herself up. "Yeah, well I got pretty much the best of both, I think. Benj's good looks, Mom's sarcastic nature. I'm quite desirable." He said with way more confidence than he should have. // Benj rolled his eyes, "And that humbleness is what? All natural there?" He said with a chuckle.
Alexithymiaa: -She leaned over, giving Felix's cheek a pinch. "He thought of that one all on his own. I can tell by the way Rochelle rolls her eyes every time he opens his mouth." She smirked, starting to dish up salad for everyone before moving onto the lasagna. She decidedly took a piece of lasagna for herself, not actually wanting to eat it, but she didnt want Benji to think anything strange was up.-
Covet: Felix scoffed at them both, and pulled his head away from Steph's pinch. "Hey, I am my own person too." He watched as she dished everyone up including herself, and he tilted his head to the side, watching her, before realizing she didn't want attention brought to it. // "If there's one way to really hit me, it's to remind me of the guilt of leaving your mother to handle you by herself. I will forever feel guilty for that one." He said before digging into the food, and smiling. "Wow, this is amazing"
Alexithymiaa: "Oh... I'm sorry. That really wasn't my intention..." She started, her face dropping a bit as she glanced at Felix, feeling a bit of her own guilt because she didnt want to fuck this up for him. "I'm glad you like it." She said in a smaller voice, stabbing at her salad with her fork.-
Covet: Felix furrowed his brow as he looked from Steph, to Benji, "I don't think she..." // "No, I didn't mean it like that." Benji said as he looked up, "I know it was the best worst thing I could do. I've accepted that. I can't go back and change, that, and because of that I'll always feel that guilt. I accept that as my own fault, you don't need to feel sorry for anything."
Alexithymiaa: -She pursed her lips, swallowing hard at the insane awkwardness at this table right now as she took a bite of her salad. Settling into silence, she glanced down at Nugget and Harvey who were sitting and begging like clockwork. "Maybe once we're done, Felix can give you a little tour. You might be able to find all of the Bat cats around."-
Covet: "Yeah I can do that, sure thing." Felix said digging into his food, trying to eat his way out of the awkwardness. // He looked across the table and smiled, " Hey, don't be awkward about this. You didn't say anything wrong. It's okay. I promise I've got thicker skin than that." Benji looked over at Felix, "Alright, wait... Bat cats?"
Alexithymiaa: -She nodded her head at him, but she didnt really feel any better about it than she had moments earlier. When he asked about the Bat cats, she couldn't help, but smile. "We have a lot of cats. I've kind of acquired them over years of spending so much time at the Portland Animal Shelter. They're named after Batman characters. Alfred, Harvey.." She said as she pointed down at the pudgy cat who was begging at his feet. "...Harley, Oswald or Ozzy, Hugo, and Isley. And then Penny is sort of just another extension of that."-
Covet: "If you don't recognize them all, don't worry, I didn't at first either, because I'm not a nerd." He said teasing Steph. // Benji laughed, " I am actually more familiar than not, I grew up on the old comics, so it seems like the nerds outrank you here."
Alexithymiaa: -She leaned over, shoving her elbow into his ribs despite his shoulder issues because FUCK YOU. "You are a nerd, you're just not a cool nerd. You're like... a book nerd. Which actually reminds me that I finished that book so you can take it back to the library with you." She spoke casually, turning back to Benji. "Felix works at the library on campus." She was just trying to get him to share himself a little bit here.-
Covet: "Book nerds don't exist We're scholars thank you very much." He said sitting up straighter. "Yeah, whicfh is basically me just being a glorified shelfer because college kids are lazy. But I think Steph just has a thing for sexy librarians" // Benji laughed, "Yeah you're not a cool nerd, and I am pleased to know you work in an library, but I don't need to know the reasons why."
Alexithymiaa: "I'm pretty sure we started dating before you started working at the library, but sure." She said with a smirk, setting her fork down after eating a bit of salad and not touching any of her lasagna. "Actually, if I remember correctly, the first time I met you I wanted to punch you in the face."
Covet: "You say wanted like you didn't get to, multiple times." Felix said with a laugh. "All more than deserved, I think. I can't remember. My mouth gets me in trouble a lot" // "Well, that's one more thing you got from me then." Benji said as he put his fork down on his now empty plate.
Alexithymiaa: "I didnt punch you that night. Actually I dont remember if I ever even punched you intentionally. I know Bryan did several times, and I know I hit you in the face with a basketball, but did I punch you?" She asked, trying genuinely to remember and it was escaping her. "Aw, the resemblance." She said with a smirk, pulling back from her chair and beginning to collect the dishes to bring into the kitchen. "Do you want me to pack you up some leftovers to take with you?"-
Covet: "Hey, you can't give away all of my leftovers." Felix said jumping in, because it was his food. "You can give him like half." // Benji laughed, "I would happily take some leftovers with me. How about you give me that tour, boy. I'm starting to get tired, and I have to be to the shop at ten am for my shift."
Alexithymiaa: "Arizona... I said some. Calm down." She said with a roll of her eyes, getting out some take out containers to begin filling with lasagna and breadsticks to send home with Benji since everyone knows you don't get your tupperware back. "Yeah, I have an appointment tomorrow at seven before class so you're going to help me clean up this kitchen so we can get to bed."-
Covet: "Yeah, Yeah, I know." He said waving her off, "C'mon Benj I'll show you about, We've got a pool, and a hot tub." He said starting to boast about the place, taking him towards the office first.
