  1. Definition of collectivism: The greater good for the greater number of people.
  2.
  3. I don't think progressives or conservatives are necessarily collectivist, but progressives (often incorrectly called liberals https://pastebin.com/sDseXFnG) are often accused of being collectivist.
  4. Although I'm and individualist and recognize progressivism is a terrible way to live and destructive to civilization, this is a rebuttal to such accusations. And in current society where someone stands on collectivism vs individualism is probably mostly determined by how much they trust their government.
  5.
  6. Progressives exhibit what looks like collectivism, but it's really about their political agenda. Note that socialists (tends to flow from progressivism) mass murdered their own people. Collectivism includes caring about your own people, which they clearly don't. They also murdered groups within their political allegiance.
  7.
  8. Conservatives are more naturally collectivist than progressives because they have an in-group preference, where progressives don't. They favor migrants and other out-groups. You can't just re-define these people as the in-group because most progressives don't belong to these groups themselves.
  9.
  10. Progressives don't argue for the greater good for the greater number. They claim some individuals (because they're part of some group) have been victimized. And this must be corrected by through aid and sacrifice from members of some other group. The group to be aided are generally r-selected and those sacrificed are K-selected. So it's really about gene wars, not collectivism. It's even individualist in that the justification for aid is protecting the rights of the individuals who've been victimized. The only collectivist aspect is that they identify people by their group membership. But to me this is racism/bigotry, not collectivism.

  12. On the overlap between feminism and progressivism:
  13. Feminism does attempt to argue for the greater good for the greater number (even if I think they're wrong about everything). But although there is some overlap between feminism and progressivism, they are not the same. The best example of that is the Democrat party. The feminists are now in control of the party and moving towards conservatism. The progressives are trying to organize with the Justice Democrats and move the party left. When the feminists become conservative enough these groups are going to split. I think historical examples of this are the religions of Christianity and Islam. Christianity was developed by progressives and Islam by feminists. So Christianity doesn't really have conservative principles (however conservatives imbue it with theirs, https://pastebin.com/mDEFP2Xp). But Islam is quite conservative, although I don't know enough about it.
