Albert smirked as he saw Felix's face fall, pulling out Felix's outfit from the bag. Instead of the butler uniform Felix expected, Albert pulled out a maid costume along with headpiece.
"It arrived yesterday, what fine craftsmanship am I correct? I'm sure you can appreciate it, yes?"

A small while passed and there was a rapid knock at the door. Felix had tried his best to stealth back here in his new outfit, lest someone see him. The measurements fit well, and it showed off his legs. The frilly outfit didn’t look unnatural! But that made it all the worse!

So embarrassing, please, please, please open up. Hurry before someone sees.

“G-guys let me in fast.”

Felix bounced from his funk determined. “Yeah of course.”

He set to work with a kettle and teacup. Heating to a boil and preparing some tea leaves.
At least it will just be these two.

As he finished preparing he poured the cup on a tray and delivered it to Albert, handing him the cup.

“Here you go.. m-m-master Albert.”

His face flushed trying to pull off embarrassing Albert. This wasn’t working at all! What was he thinking! Maybe he had to try harder. Or maybe he should die in shame.

He buried his head in his hands. “Argh you-“

Unfortunately he had forgotten he was holding onto the tray he delivered the cup on and it clattered to the floor. “Ahhhh nooo!!”

He picked it back up and hurried to set the tray back with the kettle now even worse off mentally than before.

Oh well, its not like Saltbeard had the mental capacity to dig any further. "D'ye know if t'Lard errrr... what be his name again? T'fallen noble o' Jolaponinofina or somethin' like that. He here?" He looked around. Perhaps he got the wrong place.

The maid, who was at this point preparing more tea, fumbled around during Saltbeards speech.

“F-f-feel something? E-e-every b-b-bidding?” Felix murmured aloud in a daze.

What kinda play is that! Wait-

“Ow!” Leaping a bit away, and rubbing his hands as some hot tea splashed on him while he was pouring. Thankfully it wasn’t a lot, nor did it catch him too badly.

Breathing in and out the maid shakily brought the plate to Saltbeard and offered the fresh cup.

“S-sorry S-sir.”

“I um...” Felix glanced around wildly, thinking up something.

“The truth is- I-I do know Felix. But it’s better to feign that you don’t! That’s the only solution for someone like him! It’s bad reputation!”

Saltbeard chugs the cup of tea, and accidently placed the cup in his mouth as well, and kept talking, "How'd Felix's sister end up workin' fer ya anyways, Lard? Does Felix know 'bout this?" Well, of course, this question was jumbled up with the cup in his mouth, which he finally took out once he realized he was about to swallow the cup along with the tea, but everyone could pretty much tell what he was saying.

"I am sorry to burst your bubble as it was but I am not in a relationship with anyone at the moment, nor am I seeking one. I would not mind striking up a relationship with a man or a woman, but my research is much more important. Felix owed me a favor, so I decided to make him a retainer for a day. However, he did not specify which job he would take, assuming butler."
Albert smirked and crossed his arms.

Saltbeard then truly stepped out, his laughter bellowing all across the streets. While the door was still open, Demais jumped down from the roof and saw the maid. Questioning Saltbeard, he responded, "YAR HAR HAR HAR HAR! THAT BE FELIX! OUR LARD MADE HIM WEAR THAT! YAR HAR HAR HAR HAR!"

"You mean that Felix? The one with us in the royal guard?"

"JUS' T'ONE, CAP'N! YAR HAR HAR HAR! HE BE A BOY BUT HE BE WEARIN' GIRLY CLOTHES T'IMPRESS T'MAN HE LIKES! YAR HAR HAR HAR HAR!"

And just like that, Saltbeard shouted out that one of the Royal Guard was crossdressing to the entire street. Demais had a little chuckle himself, and guided Saltbeard down to somewhere they wouldn't be noticed.

Felix took a gulp and swung the door, expecting to see the old man standing over him, instead he was met with-

“Eep!” He averted his face. Not herrrr! The aftereffects from their first meeting, the only time they’d talked still lingered in his mind! What a tragedy! Just how did Albert pick these choices!

Beth blinked as the door opened to a girlish squeak. Was that...?

Stepping into the room, she saw that both Albert and Cheyenne were both sitting at the table, tea in hand, clearly in moods of relaxation. She frowned slightly, looking around the room, noting that they were in fact the only other ones here. "Hello there Albert, Cheyenne. Am I the first to arrive...? Or am I late...?"

Wait. If Chey is there then who is serving...?

She turned her head to see the only person in the room.

Thankfully a maid outfit came with a headpiece, but of course he was still a redhead. Well Tamlen was too. It wasn’t that rare.

Still trying to avoid direct eye contact he tried to speak, but no coherent words and barely audible sounds came out with the first attempt as he tripped over his own tongue.

Salts had suspected a bit when he took too long on the name...

“I’m- my n-name is Felicia. Can I- can I get you anything Miss...?” He glanced at the two hoping they weren’t laughing.

Beth gave the two at the table a sidelong glance, wondering who in the world this girl was, and what she was doing here when she clearly should still be down below in the servants quarters, learning the ropes before before being sent to attend to regular duties.

Why are they...? I suppose the staff must be busy after the attack. Ugh, fine, I guess I need to help break in the new girl then?

She stepped closer to the table inclining her head slightly to her chair, still pushed into table, and waited in expectation. She frowned meaningfully.

Felix blinked confused and then his eyes widened suddenly, fretting about.

“S-sorry! So s-sorry!” He grabbed the chair and pulled it out from the table to give Beth a place to sit.

He was about to do so to show his apologies when he caught himself. It might be better if- but gods no- NO.

For the first time in his life Felix did a curtsy he had seen a few of the maids do around the palace. A single tear evident in the corner of his eyes.

Bitter tea? Only crazies had bitter tea, surely. Who didn’t like sweet things!

Felicia went to make it, drumming her hands as the time passed. Looking back at the group every once in a while. Well the tea came out decently, and soon the tea was poured into Beth’s cup.

Just as Felicia finished pouring the cup and tipped the teapot back, Beth lifted the tea smoothly to her lips to take a sip. She caught the sleeve that didn't have the tea in it, and whispered harshly. "...quit cringing! Your eyeliner is running!", then let go as if nothing had happened, covering it with a deep sip of the tea.

"...ah, as I was saying, frankly it is a little unsettling when she is quiet, but she has been... preoccupied with something, so I figure she will tell me about it soon enough."

Listening to the conversation something clicked. He’d talked to Hichi recently and hadn’t gotten confirmation nor denial if her goal of talking with Bella worked or not...but if she was preoccupied could it be?

But he couldn’t very well share that, it’d look too suspicious! Well he had already probably flubbed something but...

"Yes... she said something about getting banged around while she was out, but Impulse looked in fine health, so it must have just been some running skirmishes or something? Either way, she seems to be spending time in dress shops downtown, and I have yet to hear any complaints from any shopkeepers, so I suppose she must be staying out of trouble."

She tapped her serving platter with her pinky finger, expecting... something to be served. She wasn't sure what kind of a spread they had, but assumed they must have cookies or biscuits or those little half sandwiches with the crusts cut off or... something.

She glanced at the girl, wondering how she was so behind on all her cues . It's almost like the empty headed fool had never done this before!

Why would Albert keep or hire help that was so bad at this? Did he seem the type to train someone from scratch? Surely Chey had always managed just fine alone. Unless there were...other reasons?

"You should remember to eat before you start your shift, next time. Understand?"

She let go and turned, before stopping and glancing back, a frown starting to form on her face.

"I... do not know about this one... she is very clumsy, and much more nervous then I would have guessed from just looking at her."

She was holding a madly flapping and squawking live chicken in her hand...

...whom she casually tossed to the maid. "'ere, watch dis for me, woulda?"

Despite being caught completely off guard the maid managed to catch the chicken.

The look on their face was one of utter most shock and they held on tight to the flung bundle of feathers, keeping the chicken from fleeing.

"This? It is a simple tea party amongst friends, for morale purposes. In addition I have decided to aid the new maid, Felicia with training. So, my friend how have you been since you have returned home? We haven't talked since you have returned."

She leaned down and swiped half the plate of cookies in a big handful, picking through them and depositing the lemon ones in Beth's lap. Or, at least she started to before Beth sighed and opened her hands, so she could place them neatly on her opened palms.

"Oh. Well, I donna know about no tea, but dese look pretty good, I gotta say. I've been... uh... busy." Bella shot Tamlen a look, a small frown on her face before she took a big bite of a cookie.

Beth leapt up when the maid went down, moving over to help them sit up. "Oh! Are you... alright?" She waved her hands in fingers in front of the maids face, checking for bleeding or a concussion.

Bella burst into laughter at the sight, scooping up her chicken off the floor to prevent it from escaping out the door. "Haha-! Way ta go Felix buddy, ya might wanna work on ya dancin' skills, ya know?!"

Beth leaned in closer with a frown, brushing his hair from his face. "...Oh. That would explain how you got your stockings on reversed, I suppose."

Felix ran his hand to the back of his head and winced, seems there was some light bruising causing  pain. He seemed to follow her fingers well enough, and as Beth ran through checks it seemed he lacked any major and alarming symptoms for a concussion. Just a minor head injury. But perhaps checking for signs after a day or so was something to consider.

“I’ve got a hard head auntie says...”

He looked flustered at Bells comment. “Y-yeh. I’m sorry, I was trying not to be found out that this was me. I messed up a lot haha...woops I had no idea even the stockings too. Maybe next time you two should help me out.” He laughed lightly. There wouldn’t be a next time right?

He mumbled something about Albert being the reason for this, that only Beth could quite catch.

"Felix? I must say, I am rather surprised. I do not know why you applied as a maid, I said in the advertisement I was looking to train a maid or butler."
Cheyenne shrugged and looked at Felix curiously.
"Perhaps he thought that a maid would have a better hire rate. A shame that we bought a suit and a maid outfit."

Beth looked over at the chest of clothes, then back at Felix, then back to the butler outfit, then up to Tamlen, then finally back to Felix, eyebrow raised. "I... see. Well, I suppose if you need... additional training for your... ah... side hobby, you might want to practice some."

She held her hand out, and Bella, still snickering, deftly pulled a small flask out from her outfit and put in in Beth's hand. Beth gave her a look, sighed, and than popped open the flask, wafting it under Felix's nose. The quite strong alcohol smell brought sudden clarity to the mind.

Handing it back, Bella took a small swig and grinned, putting it away. "What's dat look for sis? It's just river water from da other night in the mountain, 'onest!"

Beth was clearly unimpressed with her sisters inability to not even bothering to come up with a basic lie.

Beth leaned forward to pour herself a fresh cup of tea, and pushing the last of the cookies into her Bella's hands to shut her up for a bit. "Well, hiding guards in the servants is a time honored position. Where better to stand close at all hours of the day and yet be completely invisible then to simply not hide at all?"

Bella crunched on a mouthful of delicious baked treats, trying to start a story about the two of them doing that a few times themselves, though it was rather hard to make out.

"Oh, she is trying to tell the story of when we posed as the new servants in order to infiltrate a household. Ended up slipping a bit of poison to the master on the way out, he was a bit too free with his hands with some of the other servants, it seemed." Beth took a sip, nodding at the temperature of the cup. Just right.

Bella swallowed, then coughed, bumping her chest with her fist, forcing down a bigger mouthful of cookies then she should have tried. She shook her head. "No I'm not, dat was different, I'm talkin' 'bout dat time ya stole one of the maids outfits ta play dress up. Don't cha 'member, we 'ad ta play its off like you was tryin' ta fit in with the staff at home ta sneak arouns for a mission, or whatnot."

"I was nine, Bella!"

"Yeah but so was I! I told ya dat da girl was too old for ya ta fit into 'er clothes! Besides, dats what gave dad da idea ta send us ta dat mansion in da first place a couple years lata."

"Father did not say that!"

"Oh yes he did, he told me, 'You know kiddo, sometimes that sister of yours actually has a good idea, once in a while.'"

Beth blushed, making a stop motion with her hand. "Why are you bringing this up now?! Just... Just stop it!"

Bella pouted at the outburst. "Oh, I dunno. Just thought we was sharin' stories..."

It sort of dawned on Felix these girls checked for assassins in the guard because they played that role before. Which was something he wasn't sure he wanted to bring up. He had thought- well he wasn't sure now. Mercenaries? Actually how old were these two. Bella had gotten up to all sorts of-

He continued listening and grinned at the maid story. He was about to try and add something of his own when Tamlen spoke up.

"Hey hey Bella, Beth. A job offer for a family inn. Pretty nice there yeah? Guess Tamlen's impressed." He laughed.

Felix is quiet for a moment, remembering the conversation from their date.

"Hey Tamlen would working at the inn be ideal for you?"
"Because, because! You wield lances so efficiently and your training routine is so vigorous! You can do anything you set your mind to! Even remembering names correctly! I believe in you!" He put up his fists and nodded vigorously. Seems now that he didn't have to hide who he was Felix was drifting back into earnest mode.

Bella looked for any snacks left on the table, then sighed when she realized she'd at least tried most of them. She turned, walking over to grab the chicken she had brought with her from where it was sitting in a corner.

"Guess I betta do somethin' wit' dis guy, I'll bring 'em by later, alright Chey?"

Beth simply frowned at her, finishing her own tea. "I suppose I shall go with you, make sure Dawnstar got fed properly. Just allow me a moment to change, first... You are not slaughtering that thing in our room, lets go down to the back yard."
