  1. ## This file provides the default APT repositories for Parrot Security
  2. ## These repositories are used to fetch new software and system updates
  3.
  4. ###############################
  5. ## Default Parrot Repository ##
  6. ###############################
  7. ## The 'parrot' repository provides all the Parrot software considered
  8. ## stable and tested.
  9. ##
  10. ## the main suite provides the base system plus all the software released
  11. ## under a free and open source license compatible with the Debian guidelines.
  12. ##
  13. ## the contrib suite provides additional free software that depends on third
  14. ## party software not provided by the main suite. it usually means that such
  15. ## packages depend on non-free software.
  16. ##
  17. ## the non-free suite provides additional packages that don't comply with
  18. ## the Debian Free Software Guidelines. They are mostly proprietary software.
  19. deb https://deb.parrot.sh/parrot parrot main contrib non-free
  20.
  21. ######################
  22. ## Security Updates ##
  23. ######################
  24. ## The 'parrot-security' repository provides time sensitive security updates
  25. ## that have to be delivered to end users as fast as possible
  26. ##
  27. ## this repo should always be enabled in your system
  28. ##
  29. ## we strongly recommend to NOT use mirrors for this repo, but only
  30. ## access security updates from our official domains or CDNs.
  31. ##
  32. ## a mirror server could take too much time to fetch an important update,
  33. ## leaving you without security updates for a timespan outside of our control
  34. deb https://deb.parrot.sh/direct/parrot parrot-security main contrib non-free
  35.
  36. ###############
  37. ## Backports ##
  38. ###############
  39. ## The stable repository contains software that is considered stable the day of
  40. ## the release. such packages receive only security and stability updates that
  41. ## don't introduce new features and don't drop old ones.
  42. ##
  43. ## the 'backports' repository provides feature updates to many packages, and
  44. ## even external software that was originally excluded from the stable release.
  45. ##
  46. ## disable it if you prefer stability and reliability over bleeding edge features
  47. deb https://deb.parrot.sh/parrot parrot-backports main contrib non-free
  48.
  49. #######################
  50. ## Updates / Testing ##
  51. #######################
  52. ## The 'parrot-updates' repository provides updates before they are made available
  53. ## to 'parrot'. this repo is mostly meant to be used by developers and beta testers
  54. ## to extensively test updates before they are migrated to the main repository
  55. ##
  56. ## we suggest not to enable it, as it may introduce untested bugs and make the
  57. ## system unstable. updates are delivered as fast as possible (within a week)
  58. ## so you are not missing anything important with this disabled (unless you are a dev)
  59. #deb https://deb.parrot.sh/parrot parrot-updates main contrib non-free
  60.
  61.
  62. ##############################
  63. ## Source Code Repositories ##
  64. ##############################
  65. ## These repositories provide the debian source artifacts of the packages
  66. ## in the corresponding repos in the form of dsc files and the corresponding
  67. ## tarballs
  68. ##
  69. ## you only need these repositories if you intend to download the source code
  70. ## of a package and re-compile it yourself with debian-compliant build tools

  78. ##########################################################
  79. ## How to configure mirror servers for faster downloads ##
  80. ##########################################################
  81. ## The Parrot system is configured by default to use the central
  82. ## parrot archive directors. The Parrot directors are special servers that
  83. ## collect all the requests of the users and redirect them to the nearest
  84. ## download server available for the user who made the request.
  85. ##
  86. ## The Parrot Mirror Network is secured by centralized digital signatures
  87. ## and the mirrors can't inject fake updates. If an evil mirror tries to inject
  88. ## a fake package, Parrot OS will automatically refuse to download and install it.
  89. ##
  90. ## To configure a mirror, you have to replace the original URL with the URL
  91. ## Provided by the mirror
  92. ##
  93. ## Example:
  94. ## If you live in Italy and you want to take advantage of the GARR mirror,
  95. ## Replace
  96. ## deb https://deb.parrot.sh/parrot parrot main contrib non-free
  97. ## With
  98. ## deb https://parrot.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/parrot parrot main contrib non-free
  99. ##
  100. ## IMPORTANT NOTES:
  101. ## do NOT use mirrors for the parrot-security repository. use them
  102. ## exclusively for 'parrot', 'parrot-backports' and 'parrot-updates'
  103. ##
