- Crafting allows you to pursue trades that will help you harvest resources and create items. Tier 1 crafting is used to harvest resources and create some items that will help you create items for Tier 2.
- Tier 2 allows the crafting of items.
- To learn a Tier 1 craft you must visit the traders market area of New Manetheren located 4se2sw from the square. Choose your Tier 1 craft wisely based upon the resources you will need for your Tier 2 craft. Your Tier 1 options are Fisherman, Collier, Herbalist, Stonecutter, Gemologist, Miner, Woodcutter, Trapper.
- Once you have found the craft you wish to learn type LEARN when in the room with the appropriate Trader and they will teach you the craft for a fee of 10,000 coins. If you decide you would like to change your tier 1 craft you can type UNLEARN at a Trader and you will be able to learn a new craft for another 10,000 coins.
- You will begin at 50% proficiency in your Tier 1 craft.
- To learn a Tier 2 craft you must visit the Tier 2 area of New Manetheren located 2e4n2e3s from the square. To learn a Tier 2 craft you must be at least 60% proficient in a Tier 1 craft and it will cost you 250,000 coins. If you decide you would like to change your tier 2 craft you can type UNLEARN at a Trader and you will be able to learn a new craft for another 250,000 coins.
- You will begin at 25% proficiency in your Tier 2 craft.
- Tier 1 Information:
- It is generally suggested to search for rooms with an 8 efficiency tool and when you find a room search for resources in the room with a 6 efficiency tool. This will save on repair costs and the chances that the clerks destroy the 8 efficiency tool (which are often harder to come by) on repairs.
- Each tool has a number of ‘uses’. A ‘use’ is consumed each time a resource is successfully harvested.
- When all the uses of a tool have been consumed the tool must be repaired at the appropriate clerk found in the Traders Market area.
- The question is often asked “How many times should I search per room before moving on to the next?” There seems to be a flat rate at which you will fail even at 100% so the following numbers aren’t guaranteed. Assuming the percentages are true:
- To keep the chance that you miss a room to 10% or less:
- 50% – 53%: Search 4 times per room
- 54% – 68%: Search 3 times per room
- 69% – 89%: Search 2 times per room
- 90% – 100%: Search 1 time per room
- To keep the chance that you miss a room to 5% or less:
- 50% – 52%: Search 5 times per room
- 53% – 63%: Search 4 times per room
- 64% – 77%: Search 3 times per room
- 78% – 95%: Search 2 times per room
- 96% – 100%: Search 1 time per room
- If the percentages are not true and a base failure rate does exist then these ranges should be shifted slightly.
- Note: More than 1 type of resource can load in the same room. Theoretically all 5 types of a resource can load in the same room but the chances of that are similar to the chances of a max tweak.
- Jumpies??!?
- Each time you succeed in extracting a resource there is a chance you will disturb a Jumpy. The power of the Jumpy depends on your characters status (transed, multied, heroed, etc.) Hero Jumpies can be a handful. Each craft has a finite set of possible Jumpies and I have listed them with the appropriate craft.
