  1. Ocarina of Time Glitchless ruleset (after summer 2017)

  3. Clarification:
  4. Since there is such a gray area in defining what is or is not a "glitch" in this game, a group of OoT players voted to define a set of rules that they would all abide by. It is important that all players use the same rules, since it allows them to compare times with each other. These rules are not perfect, but they are the current standard

  6. -Saving and resetting to change Link's position (savewarping) is allowed
  7. -Dying and continuing to change Link's position (deathwarping) is allowed
  8. -Timing ends on first frame of any cutscene that naturally occurs after final hit on Ganon.
  9. If defeating Ganon, this is the first frame of the final blow cutscene
  10.  
  11. Allowed Techniques:
  12. -Power Crouch Stabbing
  13. -Roll invincibility
  14. -Jumpslashing in mid-air for more distance
  15. -Shield dropping
  16. -Using broken deku stick
  17. -Rolling from the blue switch in Jabu Jabu's Belly
  18. -Damage boosting
  19. -Getting on top of the falling spike trap in the Shadow Temple
  20. -Damage Buffering
  21. -Placing bombs on lava pits to damage Volvagia
  22. -Skip talking to the owl and navi by switching weapons
  23. -Opening underwater chests while wearing the Iron Boots
  24. -Backflipping onto the falling ceiling in the Forest Temple
  25. -Passing through the back of the door from Darunia's room
  26. -Attacking through a wall, block, or red ice
  27. -Opening flaming treasure chests
  28. -Backflipping over Mido in Lost Woods
  29. -Using hover boots or cucco to enter Zora's Domain without playing Zelda's Lullaby
  30.  
  31. Banned Techniques:
  32. -Going Out of Bounds (area which you are not supposed to be in at any time)
  33. All techniques that create a new unintended mechanic in the game are banned:
  34. -Infinite Sword Glitch
  35. -Megaflip
  36. -Ground jump
  37. ***-Hoverboost (from damage source and/or recoil)
  38. -Superslide
  39. -Concerving Link's speed by holding ESS position on the control stick (FESS, WESS, HESS etc.)
  40. -Hovering
  41. -Going through a solid collision
  42. -Getting the Big Key in the Shadow Temple without Din's fire
  43. -Diving with navi, ocarina, bottle, or magic items
  44. -Flame storage
  45. -Reverse Bottle Adventure
  46. -Collection delay (early Eyeball frog, Gold scale as child etc...)
  47. -Something except for a sword on B (excluding normal circumstances like riding Epona)
  48. -Changing items into bottles
  49. -Wrong warping and skipping cutscenes (using death, etc.)
  50. -Catching something in a bottle during a cutscene (e.g. early basement in the Forest Temple)
  51. -Using a bottled item to hold down a switch
  52. -Ocarina Items (Using items other than Ocarina to play ocarina)
  53. -Z-slide
  54. -A-slide
  55. -Going through the roof of the Gerudo jail with Hookshot or Longshot
  56. -Getting Zora Tunic without blue fire
  57. -Falling through the green slimy thing with a fairy in Jabu Jabu's Belly
  58. -Dying while standing on a switch in order to skip pushing a block onto it
  59. -Dying with a fairy to damage boost Link to an otherwise unreachable ledge (e.g. boosting up to the switch in the main room of
  60. Dodongo's Cavern)
  61. -Delaying an item pick up animation and changing the value of the item you're about to receice by standing in front of a chest
  62. (GIM)
  63. -Ledge cancel (A state where Link can move through actors)
  64. -Blank A, Down A, Return A etc...
  65. While many of the most obvious and useful glitches are listed here, several other glitches exist. If something questionable is
  66. not explicitly listed as allowed, it's probably banned.

  70. Emulator-specific rules:
  71. -You must use Project64 1.6 or 1.7. All other emulators and versions (such as Mupen64 and Project64 2.0+) are banned.
  72. -You must use the default settings for emulation. (eg. Changing the graphics plugin to do GIM is not allowed)
  73. -Tricks and glitches exclusive to 1.0/1.1 cannot be used on emulator to save time.
