BACKGROUND:; Growing up, she was not Rae Lin but a girl named In Kyung Lin, who was always pressured to become just like her late grandmother, who gave Lin her name. Her grandmother was a prime minister back in her days and was also a successful doctor/nurse out on the field. Her grandmother took in families to hide with her own during the war and was a stealthy messenger between families on the warring sides. Her family wanted Lin to follow in her footsteps, saving others by becoming a doctor. They made her take many classes, traditional music was a must at all times, and she must be overachieving on her grades and always Number 1 in the district. By the time she was 16 years old, she just finished high school and came back from her exchange student semester from the US. But by then, she didn’t know that her family practically disowned her; it turns out, her father -- who’s mother is very famous -- is not even her biological father. Her family threw her out and basically erased her from their existence. At 16, she didn’t know what to do, but to pick up her things and go to Seoul, where she hopes to find a new direction in her life. It was until her best idol friend, Kim InSeong, took her in. At that time, he was living at home with his family as a trainee at SM Entertainment. But soon due to controversies he had to leave. InSeong told Lin that there was an entertainment having auditions, and basically dragged her to stay. By the time she got onto stage, it was raining, but they continued to do it. She just ran in, coming from InSeong’s family home, and sang her heart out, leaving all her pain and sorrow in her voice.
