- 1. Questions #2
- 2. Can you elaborate more on your interaction with Rich such as how he first made contact with you, how he told you about the files, etc?
- I was messaged on Wickr. I get a lot of people that just message me claiming to have incredible information, and most of the time, nothing pans out. A lot of people aren’t objective when they look at what is interesting and considered corruption. Even now, I got people trying to get me to publish stuff but I don’t see the point. So when I started writing back, I kind of was like, okay, sure… whatever. That was I think in December or January.
- 3. Do you have fuel receipts from your trip to D.C.?
- No, FBI, remember? Paid cash for everything. However, if you can get the rental slip from Enterprise, and google the mileage from the Enterprise office in Delray Beach, Florida to the school near Rich’s Washington D.C. apartment and back to Delray Beach, you will see a perfect match. I had the car for two days… Sorry, that’s the best I can do. I think I rented it on March 19 and returned it Mar 21 or 22. I can’t remember if the dealership was closed on Sunday.
- 4. Have you retained your communications with Rich or anything that can show he provided the documents?
- Everything I had from him was on Wickr, which the feds took. I think my Wickr had a good password, but you know, I don’t know the capabilities they have. I did have the burner that I used to get in touch with him after the raid, but I threw it in the trash after the trip and bought a new burner phone. I was very careful not to leave a trace.
- 5. How many times did you interact with Rich?
- Well, on Wickr, we wrote a few times the first week. In January I interacted with a few people he had contact me also. Nothing personal, no personal details. I didn’t want to know. Then Rich convinced me to download the files using TOR’s Onion Share. I looked at the first files as it was all downloading and I was like, “holy shit, this is cool…” but the next day, the feds came and liberated me of my equipment.
- 6. How many times did he provide documents?
- Two times to me. The first on the Onionshare, and the second time on USB when I drove to DC.
- 7. Was he a member of a mutual online form for whistleblowers? Was this on Tor or was it on Clearnet?
- No, I had never spoken to him or had any contact with him whatsoever until he wrote to me on Wickr.
- 8. Do you think he was continuing to collect documents just before his death?
- I think he was, yes. Because in our brief meeting in D.C. which lasted about 15 minutes, he told me there was a lot more where that came from. I didn’t tell him my home was raided because I didn’t want him to get paranoid, but when I got to Russia I told the guy from Maryland to get with him and get the information for me.
- 9. When was the first and last times you communicated with him?
- The last time I communicated with him was when I drove to him. I think it was on March 20th 2016.
- 10. You mentioned Guccifer 2.0 is a persona of several people. Can you say how many?
- Four or five. I can’t say who they are.
- 11. Was one person involved from France? If so, what was their role?
- It’s not a question I will answer without compromising someone’s safety. Still, I merely set up the server, posted the first batch of information and I gave credentials to others that were involved… people that Seth Rich had made contact with. Like the guy from Maryland.
- 12. Can you say where the other group members reside? Country/State?
- Mostly from America. A few people from Western Europe. I don’t want to be too specific on this.
- 13. How did the idea of this being a group effort come about?
- I mentioned that I pretty much set up anonymous sites for people. I set everything up, posted the first batch of documents, and let the others have at it. It was my understanding that Seth Rich and some of his government colleagues were going to take charge with everything.
- 14. Can you describe the makeup of the group such as how each person contributed?
- No, because as I mentioned, it wasn’t exactly my role. Although I did talk to the guy from Maryland a bit. He was pretty chatty about things. In fact, I told him he shouldn’t brag to anyone about what he was doing. He was a weird guy though.
- 15. Was the DNC and Podesta leaks the only project of the group? Have there been other group leaks since?
- No, there were others. Obviously the Soros part, but I didn’t care about that and had nothing to do with it, although I did set up the DNS to point to soros.dcleaks.com. Still the server was having massive problems and I didn’t have a lot of time to deal with the problems because, you know, I was broke and in a new country and all, so we eventually gave the files to Professor X. That’s our code name for Julian Assange. I am actually a friend of a friend of his, a European (I won’t say which part… but western Europe) who lives part time in Moscow.
- 16. You mentioned that additional files exist that Rich collected that weren't released. Is this because he was murdered before he had a chance to provide them?
- Yes.
- 17. Do you know what the content of those unreleased files?
- No, but I would like to know.
- 18. Can you provide some details on the DNC Leaks website and anything documenting it's operation?
- Perhaps. I will have to see.
- 19. The initial DC Leaks Twitter posts have a location tag of Manhattan, NY. Do you know why?
- No, I am not a twitter fan. I have a twitter account, but I’m too lazy to use it. That’s someone else’s deal. I highly doubt that if it has an NY tag, it was actually from NY. I can use an exit node for a proxy anywhere in the world and if I post from that location, it’s going to have that location tag.
- 20. Did Rich mention anything about his activities being discovered by internal staff?
- No, I never asked and he didn’t seem nervous at all.
- 21. Did his demeanor change as your contact progressed?
- No, not that I had noticed. He seemed pretty confident and careful, but not paranoid.
- 22. Did he mention steps he took to prevent his activities from being discovered?
- No, I didn’t ask him where or how he got the information. It wasn’t my business.
- 23. Did you flee because you were concerned the FBI had information connecting you with the documents?
- Well, then they took my stuff, I had to assume they had full access to my computers. And yes, naturally I was worried. I wasn’t about to spend the rest of my life in a shitty prison having the Sheriff tell inmates to rape me, so I got the fuck out of town.
- 24. Can you provide a timeline of events describing the time from when you first were approached by Rich to the last activity involving these leaks?
- I was contacted by him in about January. At the time, I was also feeding information to the Ben Carson campaign about cyber attacks. He actually used my talking points for one of his speeches (but then fucked it up, going off the rails about EMPs and stuff). I was pretty busy, so I kind of put Seth off a bit.
