  14. assuming that they, in fact, don't keep logs (let's say they are not lying)
  15.
  16. does that mean if I go to some blogs in my browser and create accounts and put my link in there, and the blog owners get pissed off and report my ip, the VPN provider cannot find out that it was me who started the spam?
  17.
  18. (Or set fire to the proprietary tool/system that’s been in place since 2020 that requires that one dev guy to hold together, but he’s always busy and therefore is holding the business hostage. A true story, more than once, unfortunately.)
  19.
  20. Ask for More
  21.
  22. Every year, search marketers get asked to do more – types of ads, targeting, new platforms, new markets, and often with the same tools and resources we had the year before.
  23.
  24. In 2020, start asking for more in return to help you navigate and succeed in the expanding digital advertising universe.
  25.
  26. For example – point of sale data.
  27.
  28. If you’re at a brand or working for one that has brick and mortar stores, what are they doing or getting or could be getting that would be useful.
  29.
  30. Some offline attribution would be great, but how about some location-based bidding, on category or product level?
  31.
  32. Think about what is popular online: Is that because they can’t get it where they live? And is it bought in-store more elsewhere for those that live nearby vs. online?
  33.
  34. Visualization – sure, you’re cool and have a spreadsheet with 20 tabs, 17 formulas, slicers and pivots that you’ve developed over the last two years.
  35.
  36. It’s a nerd masterpiece – but face it, it’s the Matrix and you’re Neo. Not everyone can dodge bullets.
  37.
  38. Equip yourself with software that makes your life easier and insights faster. Then, when the bullets start flying, you won’t even have to dodge them.
  39.
  40. More than anything else though, plan on expansion. It’s happening. Get ahead of it now and own it, rather than it owning you.

  46. Responsive search ads (RSAs) are catching on quickly with search marketers after being introduced less than a year ago.
  47.
  48. Marin Software’s Q1 2019 digital marketing benchmark report shows that nearly a quarter (24%) of marketers are utilizing RSAs.
  49.
  50. Google introduced RSAs in July 2018, which are ad units that use machine learning to adapt to users’ queries.
  51.
  52. At that time the ad units were only available in beta, which makes the adoption rate feel even more significant.
  53.
  54. Wesley MacLaggan, SVP of Marketing at Marin Software, states in a press release:
  55. “Up-and-coming ad formats like Shopping Ads, Responsive Search Ads, and Messenger Ads rose in popularity this quarter as advertisers looked for ways to capture consumer attention in this evolving digital landscape.”
  56.
  57. Here are some other key takeaways from the report.
