The moon comes along at seven sharp
clad in a lightless gown
at the solitary date
set in stone by fate
to set at rest the town
once her fiery brother has done his part

Man-made lamps raise from their slumber
painting the road with yellow streaks
the unrelenting rhytm of toil breaks
as the glistening posts abound in number

The bustling city is quietly wrapped
in a comely stillness
where the cicadas play their concert
and the skyline ahead reflects helpless
a monotone lilac ray

A somber curtain drops on the dusky stage
at the same time the skyscrapes engage
in a collective effort to deceive the night
irradiating the cityscape with violet light

One careless blink, one innocent drink
and the dusky mantle is gone
the winds quit chilling to the bone
and the obscure skies abruptly sink
to give way to lavender heavens
The unbecoming silence eases my mind
the blending purple beams my eyes bind
