I have had an extremely unsatisfying exchange with another admin in which I demonstrated pretty clearly that my stats have not been calculated correctly and they couldn't seem to be bothered to check my math. Then they gave an answer that seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the announced algorithm. I'm a math teacher so this kinda bugs me. You seem to have a different attitude. Do you mind if I show you what I'm talking about or has this whole thing just become such a pain in the ass that the mods are trying to just move on?

Either answer is fine with me, I just want a straight answer please.

The part that was unsatisfying about the other mod's replies is NOT that my buffer wasn't upped, BTW. I'll take what I have with gratitude - I'm set up pretty well. But I just want SOMEONE to look at my concern. There's no way whatsoever my stats could have come from a correct calculation. If they're wrong for me, they're wrong for others.

My run-through of the calculation:


The issue is: I can't reconcile Spine's formula with what I got credited. If it's wrong for me, it's probably wrong for other people. And it's wrong for me unless I am completely misunderstanding the process. And I'm a math teacher. Understanding word problems is what I do day in day out. Double-check me: I know what I'm talking about.

I've already dropped the "uploaded: number" (the 295 from the PM) calculating ONLY off of the torrent credit, and the result doesn't equal anything related to the buffer that was credited to me - the numbers just don't work. My last message didn't use it at all, it was just in a quoted section from my forum post.

In other words: Forget the number 295.19 G uploaded. Ignore it completely.

Working off ONLY these numbers: 254 torrents and 14.75 G downloaded, my result doesn't match what I see for my credit.

For the torrents: first 50: 100G. Next 204: .8 x 204 = 163.2
Total for 254 torrents: 263.2.
Then: Download: 14.75. 14.75 ÷ 2 = 7.37
263.2 + 7.37 = 270.57. This is what I expected to see before the "love correction."

From there I don't understand how the original buffer number: 317.58 or the updated buffer number : 324 ish would come from the 270.57.


Love Correction:
270.57 x .5 = 135.28
270.57 + 135.28 = 405.85

If I tweak that number by dividing by 1.07 (roughly the correction factor from GiB units to GB units) the number goes down to:
405.85 ÷ 1.07 = 379.3
So that's my best estimate of the correct calculation based on my understanding of it.

Again, what am I missing here?

Add "love factor" of 100gb. (50gb)

270+50 = 320 (or 317.58)

And your 379.3 is the best calculation of the total you will (or did) receive. But you would have received just the difference of 60ish with no PM, just randomly boom.

Hope that helps, It is difficult because I am not using proper calculations but just estimates.


That seems like a wild guess and doesn't make any sense. That reply says that 100GB would be given a 1.5x adjustment but nothing else will. That doesn't seem like what the correct calculation was said to be. No change to 379 - ish has occurred after a few days. So I am assuming there is a problem with the scripts still and I'm trying to make this known.
