Sawk Strat Ideas

Strat: Using Counter for Burgh and Elesa.

Idea: Sawk gets 3HKOed by Emolga's Aerial Ace. Thus, in theory, you could get hit with AA, then Counter it back and kill Emolga, saving several turns of setup. Counter would also help against Burgh's Leavanny.

Why it doesn't work: Sawk's Counter from Emolga's AA doesn't OHKO Emolga, and thus, using counter to kill the Emolgas would take the same amount of turns as just settin up and killing everything

Strat: Using Payback

Idea: Payback makes Shauntal and Caitlin far easier

Why it doesn't work: the TM for Payback can only be found in Route 16, right from Nimbasa and it requires Strength as well. The time it would take to get Payback just takes far too long, way longer than the potential timesave from making Shauntal and Caitlin easier. The discovery of Endure + Reversal strats for Caitlin makes Payback even harder to justify

Strat: Using Fling + fossil for Shauntal:

Idea; Using Fling to KO Cofagrigus means you won't have to set up as much of Cofagrigus, which saves time from healing off psychics and makes the fight less risky, as the chance of losing special defense is lower.

Why it doesn't work: Shauntal with Fling and Shauntal without fling is only a two turn difference (provided that we're comparing the best possible fights for both, without crits), which isn't enough time to make up for the timeloss in getting the fossil, equipping it, and teaching Fling.
