The Missing Chao - Chapter 9

Far from the cavern, Silver whistled a tune while his teammates wandered through a flat meadow.

"At least we're not in the Great Plains," Floee mumbled, "or the Bronze Des-"

"Hey!" Shadow suddenly shrieked. "I just heard someone call my name! Is it one of y'all?"

"No, I swear!" Silver quickly confessed.

"It sounded feminine."

"I didn't mew anything," Blaze responded.

"Me neither," Rouge added.

"Then who can it be?" Shadow demanded an answer. "It can't be Maria since she's dead."

"Can't we  locate the sound of such strange voice?" Silver suggested.

"Good idea!"

"Meh," Floee smirked, "can't we just ignore that? That person might be calling someone else."

"Um, they may be referring to myself. Let's go!"

Shadow took off on his hover shoes and the others followed him into the thick trees. Feet flew and tree branches swatted them as if they were flies. Still, they kept on moving.

"Beep, boop, beep," Floee imitated a sonar.

"The sound's getting louder!" Blaze yowled as her ears tingled.

"Beep-beep-beep!" Floee sped up her words.

"Can you please shut up?" Rouge was irritated.

The silly beeping ceased.

Shadow suddenly made a sharp right turn, the animals behing him collapsed onto the Earth.

"Ugh...." Silver got up slowly. "You were too quick."

Floee stood back onto her heels and brushed off the dirt while coughing. She then spotted small abrasions on her legs.

"My legs got skinned!" she squealed in pain.

Blaze rushed directly to the vixen's body, "Are you alright? Are you bleeding?"

Floee noticed a few drops of blood oozing from her cuts, "Yeah."

The lavender cat lifted up the red fox and placed her against the tree. Silver came up and kissed Floee on the cheek in order to chase the pain away.

Shadow apologized, "I'm sorry for dashing way too fast, my hover shoes erase friction and give me a chance to speed up."

"That's okay," Blaze patted the black boar on the back. She opened a medical kit and spread anti-bacterial cream all over Floee's wounds.

"Allow my vixen to rest," Silver requested Shadow, "she suffered pain."

"For 5 minutes," he replied, "we gotta get going."

"Shadow..... Shadow!" the voice continued to echo.

Floee took a deep breath and sighed as she started to absorb the pain. Silver carefully kept an eye on her and made sure that nothing was troubling her deeply.

The red fox, at last, slowly bent her knees and raised her torso into the fresh air. The pain still flowed through Floee's flesh and blood.

"I can.... barely run," she cried.

"I will carry you, honey," Silver grasped Floee through psychokinesis and placed her in his arms. "You're safe now."

Team Emerald then took off and swept through endless hills and woodland. Even though the pain kept distracting her, she could eye blurs of flora and clouds through her emerald green eyes. Natural scenery wandered by and clogged everyone's sight in beauty and passion. Floee then turned towards Silver's chest and hugged it.

"There it is!" Shadow bellowed. "The source of the voice!"

Everyone came to an immediate halt, so quickly that Floee almost fell out of her darling's arms.

"There's a cavern atop the cliff we're facing now," Blaze responded to Shadow.

Sonic's head popped out of the dark caver, "Yoohoo, come in! Some talking Chao are here to help out!"

"TALKING CHAO?!?!" Shadow's head almost exploded. "What illogical nonsense, you guys just want to pull some prank on us so we could waste our precious time. I've never seen a Chao speak in our language. C'mon, my team, let's go on."

'No, wait! There's actually talking Chao here!"

Forest and Sunrise revealed themselves to Team Emerald, "Hi, we're Forest and Sunrise, one of the oldest Chao on Mobius. We're about to assist you."

"Ha, you're just another Omochao!" Shadow retorted. "Who needs some stupid 'Chaobot'?"

"Hey!" Knuckles hollered. "Forest ain't gonna annoy you, he's a wise bluejay!"

"I can only prove that if I confront him. Guys, we must get up there!"

"I'm ready!" Silver levitated himself with his mind.

"Me too!" Rouge flapped her bat wings.

Floee was about to smack the ground with the laser beam allowing her to bounce into the air, however her body ached so much that she couldn't do any violent action. She hopped onto Silver's back and sighed. Shadow pumped up his Hover Shoes and started to float in the air. Blaze lifted herself off the ground (she can actually levitate, but there's no explanation).

Once Team Emerald elevated and then set afoot in front of the cave, Shadow suddenly spotted a pile of Chaos Emeralds!"

"Yes I do," Forest chuckled. "Now can you please explain your plans to me?"

"We've split into two teams," Sonic started to explain. "My team is Team Ring, Shadow's team is Team Emerald. Team Ring will head west while Team Emerald wanders east."

"Okay. I will Team Ring. My wife, Sunrise, will assist Team Emerald."

Sunrise kissed him on the cheek, "I will miss you, honey."
