- DELTA 7 - test 1 - Read the announcement about parking. What are the main points of the announcement?
- Then listen to the conversation and take notes.
- What is his opinion? He’s unhappy about the new prices ($15 more than last year)
- Why is he unhappy about this price increase?
- - It’s not fair to make students pay for the new parking lot when staff and faculty park for free.
- - The new parking lot is away from the rest of campus and inconvenient to walk from.
- ---
- Your response should have these parts:
- 1 Brief summary of the announcement: “The announcement is about the new prices for parking permits on campus. Full-time students need to pay $60 for a quarterly parking pass, and they have to park in the new parking lot.”
- 2 Statement of the speaker’s opinion: “The man is unhappy with the change.”
- 3 Lead-in: “He gives two reasons for his opinion.”
- 4 First reason: “The first reason is that it’s unfair to make students pay for the new parking lot.”
- 5 Detail/example: “Staff and faculty can still park for free anywhere on campus, but students have to pay $15 more than last year and can only park in the new lot.”
- 6 Second reason: “The second reason is that the new lot is inconvenient.”
- 7 Detail/example: “It is far from the rest of campus and it takes a long time to walk to and from classes.”
- ---
