- Boldur: All three skills play well together even if Boldurdash is just a generic dash. The shield gimmick works great, and lets him bypass his lack of energy-shield, basically turns him into a tank. Generally pretty fun to play, even if his design isn’t anything great. 7/10 better than Torbjorn.
- Kelvin: Badass design, eh gameplay. Being entirely melee can be a major downside when it comes to this kind of game, and he doesn’t have anything to supplement it. The orb transformation ability is useful for quick escapes, but the bite really should have just been the alternate fire. Ice wall is pretty useless. 5/10
- Mellka: One of the more unique elves I’ve seen, so that’s a plus. She’s fairly simple, but the poison gimmick adds some interesting stuff. The lunge attack is relatively useless, but the poison grenade and blade blaster abilities are top notch and fun to use. 6/10.
- Miko: Mushroom ninja? Yes please. Heal beam is obviously useless in single player, and kunai are low on ammo, and need upgrades to make reload not shit. Spore bomb and mushroom AOE are things that exist, but you’ll just be using the healing ability most of the time. 5/10, probably better in multiplayer but no one plays Battleborn
- Thorn: My favorite of the nature based characters, despite her design just being eh. Arrow sniping is really fun, especially in addition to her speed and health. Blight is a fun ability to use, and so are the arrow volley and grenade. I never realized that I liked playing as aggressive snipers. Voice is annoying. 9/10.
- Ambra: Didn’t know how much I wanted to play as an aggressive medic either. All three of her abilities are useful and play into her gameplay, and life stealing is always fun. The meteor attack is super laggy and takes a bit too long, but its cool looking. Her voice would probably be annoying to most people, but I think she’s funny. 9/10.
- Attikus: I wanted Attikus to be better since I do like his design, but he’s mediocre. An entirely melee based character, like Kelvin, but doesn’t really have the stamina to support it. All three abilities are really generic, and don’t entirely mesh together. 4/10.
- Caldarius: Fine to play, but fairly generic. Charge and flashbang work, but don’t really have much character to them compared to a lot of characters. The leap is pretty fun, though, and his standard fire is pretty great. Gundam inspired design is also tops, and voice is very menacing. 6/10.
- Deande: Eh design. Melee standard fire makes her rather hard to use, and ranged secondary is very laggy. You’ll mostly just use the copy ability to keep yourself alive. Still not unbearable to play as, so that’s pretty alright. 4/10.
- Rath: Probably the most simple of the melee characters, not super interesting, but still fun. His skills are pretty goddamn simple, but he deals lots of damage and that’s fun. 5/10 not a vampire.
- El Dragon: Melee character who at least gets some supplements to help. Clap attack is eh, but punching attack works great. Both the clothesline and body slam skills work really well, and the guy just has a really fun personality. 8/10 MUCHA LUCHA
- ISIC: Still the best 2016. A fast, speedy tank who can practically become invincible with the right upgrades. Basically my go-to guy when I want to play the game, he’s really great. 10/10 consciousness is a joke!
- Kleese: His hoverchair is awesome, and Kleese himself has a pretty fun personality. The concept of a character who assists with shields is interesting, and not something I’ve ever really seen. Mortar attack is pretty much worthless, but his standard fire is rapid, does decent damage, and has unlimited ammo. Shield buffer turret thing is also fun, and black hole is ridiculously powerful. 7/10.
- Marquis: Fun sniper character. Owls are pretty useless as minions, they basically just get killed in one shot. Marquis has a really good design and voice tho, so it’s not all bad. 6/10.
- Phoebe: Not super interesting in design or playstyle. She just has melee attacks and a projectile, as well as pretty decent AOE and teleport skill. 4/10.
- Benedict: Basically, just the Soldier, but a bird. I’ve never been a big fan of that kind of style, but his abilities are pretty generic, a homing shot, a rocket jump without the rocket, and a supposedly guided missile. I was never able to actually control the thing. His voice is also super annoying. 1/10 I hate this garbage bird boy.
- Galilea: Like Boldur but she throws her shield instead of her weapon, and she has a better design. Her shadow powers are really cool, even if it basically amounts to an AOE healing/damage skill and a runaway tactic. 8/10.
- Ghalt: Pretty standard, the hook attack is fun to use, and god is he powerful. The double shotguns are awesome, though the trap is pretty mediocre. Seems like a cool guy. 6/10.
- Montana: One of the more interesting mini-gun based character I’ve seen? His design is garbage, yeah, but his odd ice/fire dynamic is interesting from a gameplay perspective. His generic charge and stomp attacks are pretty bad though. 4/10 head is too small.
- Oscar Mike: Oscar Mike is designed to play like a generic space marine FPS character, and he does that perfectly fine. Not at all interesting, but he’s at least fine to play as. Helps his has a fun personality. 5/10.
- Orendi: Her personality is pretty annoying yeah, but her design is ace. Her abilities are simple, but still fun to use. Nullify is fairly useless imo. 6/10.
- Reyna: Interesting support character, probably the character I’m best at other than ISIC. Her design’s alright for a pirate lady, but her gameplay is fun. Guess I just have a soft spot for super defensive characters. 9/10.
- Shayne & Aurox: Shayne is alright, but Aurox is supremely my shit when it comes to design. The tag team aspect of their set works well, even if it isn’t implemented that much. Aurox’s AOE attack is amazing, and both fetch and the cloaking ability are fun to use. 9/10.
- Toby: Relatable personality. Design is maybe a bit too goofy, but I’m a sucker for giant mechs. For a tank character, he feels remarkably weak, and his shield is a piece of shit. Bomb traps are alright, laser attack is fine, and standard fire is annoying to use at first, but you get used to it. 6/10.
- Whiskey Foxtrot: Basically if Oscar Mike was ten times better to play as. Has a really fun design and voice, and all of his attacks are fun to use. 8/10 holy shit its whiskey foxtrot
