Technologia V2X jest to bezprzewodowa wymiana danych pomiędzy pojazdem a infrastrukturą drogową. Komunikacja ta jest dwukierunkowa – sensory umieszczone w pojazdach wymieniają się informacjami z czujnikami umieszczonymi na elementach infrastruktury drogowej i na odwrót. Do tych elementów należą m.in. parkometry, napowietrzne czytniki i kamery RFID (z ang. Radio-Frequency Identification), znaki drogowe, sygnalizatory świetlne, latarnie uliczne i znaczniki pasa ruchu. czujniki V2X zbierają dane wysyłane z różnych elementów infrastruktury drogowej i przekazują je kierowcom, dzięki czemu dostają oni informacje o otoczeniu w czasie rzeczywistym.

V2X communication technology is a wireless exchange of data between vehicle and road infrastructure. This communication works in both directions - sensors placed in cars exchange informations with sensors placed on the elements of road infrastructure and conversely. Elements that belong to the road infrastructure are for example parking meters, aerial scanners and RFID cameras (ang. Radio-Frequency Identification), road signs, traffic lights, street lamps and lane markers. V2X sensors collect data sent from different elements of road infrastructure and then hand them over to drivers. Thanks to this operation drivers can get information about their surroundings in present time.

Thanks to the V2X technology in the future we will be able to have inteligent cars, which will contibute to increase of safety, improve flow of traffic and lessen the impact of vehicles on the environment. Also there will be cars that won't need drivers, so the possibility of taxis and trucks without them may soon be fullfilled.
