RankPulse is a Chrome browser extension that displays estimated SEO keyword data (search volume, CPC, competition, difficulty, and trend charts) on Google search results pages, and shows AI query fanout panels on AI platforms including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains clearly what data RankPulse does and does not collect, how the extension works, and your rights as a user.
The short version: RankPulse does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. Ever.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect
RankPulse does not collect, access, transmit, or store any of the following:

Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
Your Google search queries or search history
The content of any web pages you visit
Your browsing history or navigation patterns
Your IP address or device identifiers
Your location data
Any data from AI platform conversations (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude)
Financial, health, or authentication information
Cookies or tracking identifiers of any kind
Any form inputs or user-generated content


3. How the Extension Works
RankPulse operates entirely within your browser. Here is exactly what happens when you use it:
On Google Search Pages
When you perform a Google search, RankPulse's content script reads only the search query visible in the URL (e.g., ?q=seo+tools) to compute estimated keyword metrics. These metrics are generated locally on your device using a deterministic algorithm. No search query is ever sent to any external server.
On AI Platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude)
RankPulse injects a visual overlay panel displaying estimated AI fanout queries. It reads visible page text only to identify the topic of conversation for generating locally computed query suggestions. No conversation content, messages, or responses are read, stored, or transmitted.
Extension Popup
The popup displays SEO data about the currently active tab, computed entirely on your device. No data from the popup is sent anywhere.
Local Storage
RankPulse uses Chrome's local storage API solely to save your UI preferences (such as whether panels are expanded or dismissed). This data never leaves your device and is never synced, shared, or transmitted.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
RankPulse does not share any data with third parties because it does not collect any data in the first place.

We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, or any analytics service
We do not use advertising networks or tracking pixels
We do not integrate with any third-party data brokers
We do not use any remote APIs to compute keyword data
We do not monetize user data in any form

The only external resource loaded by RankPulse is Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com), which is a CSS stylesheet used to render the popup UI typography. This is a standard browser font request. No user data or identifiable information is included in this request.

5. Permissions Explained
RankPulse requests the following Chrome permissions and here is exactly why each is needed:
activeTab
Used to read the URL of your current browser tab to identify the search query or AI platform in use. This permission is activated only when you click the extension icon or when a supported page loads. It is not used for passive background monitoring.
scripting
Used to inject the visual UI elements (keyword data bar, sidebar cards, fanout panel) into supported pages. Scripts are injected only on: google.com/search, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai, and claude.ai. No scripts are injected on any other websites.
storage
Used exclusively to save your local UI preferences on your device (e.g., panel open/closed state). Nothing personal is stored. Data is never transmitted off your device.
Host Permissions (google.com, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai, claude.ai)
Required to allow content script injection on these specific domains. The extension reads only what is necessary to display its UI overlay — specifically the URL search query on Google, and visible page headings on AI platforms. No page content is recorded or transmitted.

6. Children's Privacy
RankPulse is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we collect no personal data from any users, there is no special risk to minors using this extension.

7. Security
Since RankPulse does not collect or transmit any user data, there is no personal data at risk of a security breach. All processing happens locally within your browser. Your Chrome local storage preferences are protected by Chrome's built-in security model and are not accessible to other extensions or websites.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Since we collect no user data, any future changes to this policy would only occur if the extension's functionality changes in a way that affects data practices. We will never introduce data collection without clearly updating this policy and notifying users through the Chrome Web Store listing.

Since RankPulse collects no personal data, there is no personal information to access, correct, export, or delete. However, you may:
