  1. Excerpt from Architect Overseer Melindra's work log
  2.
  3. One-Two of Moonlight, Cycle XX
  4.
  5. As ever there is no rest for the working caste. The chill of the cold season has begun its descent but even still we continue our work on the trade road. It shall no doubt continue into Sunrise, though we hope to meet with one of the rumored outer settlements, pointy eared folk I believe. I can only hope they are friendly.
  6.
  7. Our one piece of good news is that we have received warmer garb and plenty of fuel for heat sources - and we shall likely make even more clearing trees.

  11. Work continues, slow but steady. I am beginning to see why the Iztacoatl insisted on a land route. The river heading from the mountains is blocked with chunks of ice in spots, frozen near solid in others. There is no way we would get a ferry through without extra work. Perhaps come Sunrise we shall have better luck. For now we working caste cannot rest.

  15. Work has slowed, a forest avalanche overtook us, one of my workers mis-struck a tree and sent a mountain of snow toppling from the upper branches. Many of the women in my charge are now on the verge of sleep, even I am struggling to hold on with hot soup and coffee. I pray we can last the winter.

  19. Work continues, slower than ever as we must both clear snow and trees now. It is a thankful thing that we are only carving foot paths and not laying brick for carts to pass. If the mountain tribes prove friendly then perhaps we can ask their aid in finishing the path. For now we are stalled at the halfway point.

  23. Progress continues to stall, assuming no one comes to find us before then, we may have to make camp until Sunrise's thaw. Snow is too deep, weather is too harsh. We shall continue to push forward as much as we can, but this may be as far as we can go this season. Such is the life of the working caste.
