- >Liena didn't care to go to Flips. The only food you could buy was something you cooked in a microwave or just junk food.
- > But her father had the car, and this was the closest store to their house.
- > Getting what she needed she placed on the counter, Flip was busy watching some game on the TV. She figured she’d cut out the middleman and just give him a 20 to cover it. Unless he inflated the prices again.
- > As she dug for the twenty, she glanced at the headache medicine behind the counter.
- > She recalled that Lyra and Lupa got into one of their usual debates. Lyra might need something to ease her mind.
- > Tapping the counter a bit got Flips attention.
- > “Whatcha’ want loud?” He banned enough of her siblings to know them all. But still never bothered to remember their names.
- > She tried signing (“Just some Advil.”) but he just squintes his beedy eyes at her like she was some circus act.
- > “Why ya waving your hand around like that?” Of course he didn’t know sign language. So she just pointed to the wall behind him. “Yeah that’s a wall but you gotta tell me what ya’ want on it?” Liena motioning to hand her a piece of paper to write on.
- > “Yeah I got some paper right here.” She grabbed the paper and waited for a pen. “Pens 3 bucks.” She slammed the paper on the table. She didn’t want to but she just wanted to leave.
- > “Cahn’ I pwaese geet oane Aduvil.” Liena pushed the words out of her mouth.
- > “Ooh wee girl, you sound like a horse trying to talk with peanut butter in its mouth.” He chuckled as Liena just groaned. “20 bucks.” He took the money and she grabbed her bag. “One more thing, I knew what you were askin’ for I just wanted to see if you could talk Hehehe.”
- > Liena looked like she was about ready to smack the old bastard with her bag. But she calmed down.
- > “Yuo kno Sygn Lynga’uge?” She mumbled.
- > “Hehe ya’ I took an online class. What of it?” Liena smiled as she picked up her bag.
