  1. out of all mankinds achevements there is one that has stood far above the rest.. one that has made almost everything else obsolete. who needs fire when you have a heating core? who needs food when you can download norishment? who needs to go anywhere when you can reach everywhere with a click of a mouse?
  2. the Internet. with all its vast power and skill.. possibly the only still free place left on the planet.. more free if you know a few codes.
  3. Lindie was running down a hallway in a progam. in real life she was laying on her bed in sleep mode but her mind was passing by doorway through doorway.. running from a firewall.
  4. She slid around a corner and quickly threw up a dark circle on a wall. she dived into the circle and closed it most of the way.
  5. being a old time tee-vee watcher she redesigned most of her online gadgetry to mimic cartoons of any era.. she had a pass key in the shape of a regular skeleton key, a sub routine front in the shape of a "hide hole" that she was now using. a tracer program that looked like a wind up mouse.. but her best one is the virus.. it was shaped like a boxing glove on a spring... in the internet the avitar would get a black eye.. in real life the victim would get a exploded computer.
  6. galinda looked through the small hole of her hiding spot to see the firewall pass by.. the person whos computer this was was sort of a history buff so it was modeled after the Minotuar of old greece, exept on fire.. most firewalls were.
  7. as soon as the monster passed by and out of sight lindie slid out of the hole and picked it up off the wall stowing it in her pocket again..
  8. "i've got a hole in me pocket" she said quoting a beatles movie.
  9. lindie walked down the hall silently towards a grey door hiding the archive she was after... she poped the key into the lock and turned it.. keeping a careful eye down towards the end of the hall.. before stepping into the high ceilinged room.
  10. the room was made up of sandstone with intricate carvings on the walls.. but none of the carvings would make a lick of sense..
  11. good thing that was not what she was after..
  12. she needed a language upgrade to confuse and astonish her friends who were traveling around what used to be soviet russia but became the northern china expansion... at the same time russia invaded the empty china.
  13. history did not matter. she searched for the best translation tech on the web.. and all of them fell short. exept for one.. this one. it must be a goverment special because it held all the languages of the world.. and some unknown.
  14. lindie had to have it..
  15. she looked around the room and did not see it.. she saw piles of junk, a few bones of old explorers (searchers whos computers and IP address had met an untimely and permanent ban.) and even a old tin dog.
  16. where was the program?
  17. lindie searched low and even to the top of an old platform possibly used to carve the roof.
  18. "program not here.. maybe it got moved to a diffrent subfile?" she said kicking a old dirt pile in disgust.
  19. the dust fell down and landed on something, something not there, something invisible, something revealed by a cascade of 1's and 0's
  20. a box.. at least the shape of one. it had a sort of peeked roof like a small house but was no more bigger than a phonebooth.. and what was that "bulb" on the apex?
  21. lindie picked up more dirt and started to sprinkle it over the box to soon reveal everything.
  22. it was an old police box..
  23. "huh.. written in england maybe?" lindie said stepping over to the door and placing her hands over the handles.
  24. the disguise failed on the box and revealed its marvolous blue color.
  25. "cake.. public police call box.. pull to open?"
  26. lindie pulled.. and the doors creaked open slowly revealing... the inside.
  27. four small walls.. all painted the same blue.
  28. "it is not nice to steal you know." came a voice behind lindie.
  29. lindie turned and saw a avitar of an old man wearing a black jacket and carrying a cane.
  30. "besides. not like you could open her if she did not want to be opened." the old man said stepping forward. with each step he became a diffrent person. a short man with a bowl cut and plaid pants, a dandy with a cape, a man with a increadibly long scarf, and eventually a man in a brown suit and tan duster wearing red converse shoes
  31. "d-doctor?" lindie said with a blink
  32. "time to wake up lindie.. snooping is bad.
  33. he flicked out a small pen like object before smiling and pushing a button.
  34.
  35. lindie sat up with a splitting headache.. a sudden and complete internet disconnect would do that.. she checked her internal bio-links to see if anything was broken and found that it was not "dang.. banned and tossed.. been a while since that has happened.
  36. --------------------
  37. the doctor sat up and pulled the visor off his face before patting the console "there. your hard drive is safe.. good thing you added a secondary entryway for me. anyway when you are done rebooting the firewalls and adding more security then you can find me in the daycare.. i have a paper to sign for rainbow spring.
