- First, make sure Elite is not being blocked / scanned by protection software, and add Elite to Windows Defender exclusions list by following this procedure. This will ensure proper connection to and communication with Frontier's servers, and facilitate optimal net gaming performance, stability, and reliability for any game mode or game type. This may vary slightly depending on your particular version of windows, and is very similar for most types protection software on PC, use this as a basic guide for this process. Navigate to Frontier forums for more professional help if you need it with specific software issues / conflicts with the game.
- 1) start elite and run game to main menu
- 2) press windows key, type "windows defender", hit Enter
- 3) click firewall and network protection
- 4) click firewall notification settings
- 5) click virus & threat settings
- 6) scroll down and click "add or remove exclusions"
- *if you are lost now, you may be on older windows version, so, for example, on windows 7, go into Options at the Windows Defender main menu, and click Excluded files and folders, and continue on
- 7) add the running elite launcher and client executables: "EDLaunch.exe" , "EliteDangerous64.exe"
- * if you need to find the direct filepath, go into task manager (hold L Ctrl and L Shift, and hit Esc key), right click the executable in the processes tab, then click properties - most users' Steam install directory will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous , so you may find them manually this way
- 8) once everything is in order, click Save, and close everything
- 9) restart elite launcher and run the game
- ------------------------------------------------------
- after installing the game for the first time, do ALL the tutorials, click video links in tutorial menus to open browser for video viewing, set up your keybindings fully as per your preference, make sure to have all extra gaming USB input devices unplugged (i.e. unplug controller if you play using keyboard/mouse or hotas) -

- System Permits
- http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Permits
- https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=122593
- Sol - Federal Rank Petty Officer
- Shinrarta Dezhra - Not reputation based. Awarded upon reaching Elite in any category.
- Sirius - rep up Sirius Corp. missions in Avik, Procyon, Luyten's Star, Te Kaha, HIP 8396, Takurua, Almagest, Robigo, Ceos, Sothis
- ------------------------------------------------------
- Easy rank progression systems :
- Empire :
- HIP 10012 (Hooker Gateway) and Kureinji (Weill's Pride) loop
- Ngalinn (Hickam Survey) and Mainani (Mies van der Rohe's Claim) loop
- Federation :
- Dakondunii (Asire Arena outpost) to Kamahu (Elion Platform) loop
- Niu Hsing (Gorbatko Terminal) to Col 285 Sector YF-M C8-8 (Lebedev Installation) loop **Horizons required**
- Ceos (New Dawn Station) and Sothis (Newholm Station, Sothis Mining) loop
- Alliance (for permits) :
- find Alliance controlled systems using powerplay in galaxy map, sell up to 3 million cr worth of exploration data to 1 station in any of the Alliance controlled systems, and jump to another system and repeat to unlock Alliance system permits
- ------------------------------------------------------
- Easy Passenger missions money:
- ** nerfed as of 1/23/18 **
- Load up your ship of choice with all economy cabins and class 2 or 3 cargo rack.
- - Belis - Tombaugh Platform to Mimuthi (only 2 outposts, Sm or M ships only) to rep up, then do passenger missions from Belis to Haiden - Searfoss Enterprise
- - Upsilon Aquarii system, Allen Hub to LTT 9360 system, Smeaton Orbital
- This is "Rhea 2.0". You will get between 50-200 million per trip if you stack up enough passengers in economy cabins, but this method takes a great deal of board flipping. Be sure to leave the dock within 1 HR (on the transactions tab in left panel), to avoid deductions from angry passengers or from missions expiring from too much board flipping. You can easily use any ship for this method depending on how many passengers you wish to take per trip since only economy cabins are needed. Some players have taken passengers to LTT 9455 from Allen Hub also for good money.
- - LTT 2684 to Namorodo
- It pays less than Upsilon Aquarii missions, but it has 2 advantages: shorter flight time and factions aligned with both federation AND empire in all stations involved, so you grind rank very efficiently. Arun system nearby also has passenger missions AND data deliveries to Namorodo from both superpowers, so by jumping back and forth all three systems, you can keep picking up passengers without having to do much board flipping. As above, you can easily use any ship for this method depending on how many passengers you wish to take per trip since only economy cabins are needed.
- - Piper Hub in Corycia system to Medb system (very similar to Upsilon runs, very profitable)
- - Parutis system (4 starports) to Medb system
- ------------------------------------------------------
- Easy Hutton Orbital money stacking:
- Daedus station in Sol, get allied with the five factions there, data to Hutton is 3-4 mil per x 20 missions, very profitable for a 90 minute flight.
- Easy / quick mining profits:
- Frey, Body 4 - Ring A
- HIP 29596 - look for metallic rings on planets in system map
- Bhotho - planets with pristine rings
- HIP 93377 - many planets with pristine rings
- *Arsenic!*

- Item farming:
- Dav's Hope:
- Hyades Sector DR-V C2-23
- A ton of goodies are found here.
- Travel here with a ship fitted with an ADS, DSS, and an SRV. Honk the ADS and then target the 5th planet from the star (or just scan everything in the system, whatever floats your boat), whatever, you need planet A5. Fly to co-ordinates 44.815/-31.39 (41/-31 is close enough) at the base of a big mountain. You should be low enough, a kilometer or less, to see the base. Land and deploy your SRV. There is a circuit of the base you can do starting to the left of the tower Data Point Access that will net you everything that is there. Bear in mind that RNG once again rears it's ugly head and you may not get any CPs but you will get loads of other things which may be of use to you. Once you've done the circuit and found everything return to the start position (small shed like buildings to the far left of the Data Point) and log out. Log back in again and do another circuit. Repeat for as long as you wish.
- ** A very good method of getting certain drops here at Dav's Hope is possible with a little patience with solo mode relogging. Simply sit in your SRV at a known item spawn of a desirable item, relog over and over into solo until the item you want spawns, collect and relog. Repeat. Using this method I personally have acquired 207 chemical manipulators in approximately 8 hours (watching videos and streams, and taking a few breaks, I also used a keyboard macro to automate the exit to menu and relog into solo mode for convenience). This method is very long and boring, but gives decent results considering you do not even have to move the vehicle at all (with the exception of leaving to refuel the SRV if you do not have the materials to synthesize SRV fuel). Wise players will plan ahead and have these materials before trying this method... *winks* ;) **
- datamined wake exceptions and other scannable items:
- Search for Famine systems in the Galaxy Map with high population, then go to them looking for a Distribution Centre in the Navigation panel. Not all systems will have one so search around a few hundred ly if you must. Go to it and there will be lots of ships traveling into and out with supplies, then high waking out. They all depart in the same area of space generally, then move to another, so just park there, let them come to you and scan their wakes. This is a long process and does net a few rares per hour, but mostly commons that you must either delete or use up. There will be 3-4 ships about every 10-15 seconds. Scan a lot just like at normal stations but with so many ships departing, the process is sped up immensely. Thus one can get 5-20 Datamined Wake Exceptions in an hour, depending on the horrid RNG drop rates.
- antimony, ruthenium, zirconium, tungsten or tellurium -
- go to crashed anaconda in Orrere 2B

- Engineers:
- To level up any engineer, you must synthesize 3 blueprints of the highest available grade. For example, to level up to grade 4, you must synthesize 3 grade 3 blueprints. This section outlines the minimum required materials for 3 of the specified blueprints, so please ensure you do not synthesize any extra blueprints at any grade, you may use materials required for a later level up and thus run out. You have been warned. You do not need to use the mods or keep them, discard them if you don't want to keep them in storage.

- (The orbit takes approximately 1 hour. Landing on this planet is extremely hazardous: The planet can only be approached when it is outside the exclusion zone for the white dwarf, and getting caught in the streams of the white dwarf is possible. Explorers trying to land have a narrow window in which landing is possible. Generated heat is also high and must be considered when landing. Finally, the planet will pass through the jets of white dwarf over the course of the 1-hour orbit, potentially leading to entire ship destruction!) https://youtu.be/g9ZIQGPX7a4

- Guardians Ruins + Info :
- http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Guardians
- first discovered in the Synuefe XR-H D11-102 system
- relevant information:
- Ancient Ruins are ruins belonging to an alien race known as the Guardians. The first Ancient Ruins site was discovered on October 27, 3302 by CMDR XDeath in the Synuefe XR-H d11-102 system. Since January 3303, many additional sites have been located in other systems.
- There are 6 types of artifacts in the cairns: Ancient Orbs, Tablets, Totems, Relic, Urns, and Caskets. Each can be scanned but this appears to have no effect. Artifacts can be sold at a market and their prices can be seen on the cargo screen of the right-side panel.
- Relic Pillars Edit
- Pillars are tall structures that emerge from the ground when an SRV approaches. At the top of each is a glowing moving Ancient Relic surrounded by 3 pillars. The relic can be collected by shooting the pillars. Relics can be scanned but this appears to have no effect. Relics can be sold at a market and the price can be seen on the cargo screen of the right-side panel.
- Obelisk Groups Edit
- Obelisks are triangular prism structures grouped together in various formations such as rows, chevrons, triangles, and rectangles, bounded by ornate markings on the ground. Typically at least one obelisk within each group will glow and emit sound when approached in an SRV, and an animated pattern of symbols appears on the glowing face. This can be targeted and scanned to acquire encrypted data packages in various patterns: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. Obelisks deactivate after scanning (until next game login).
- Guardians Data Decryption Edit
- When equipped with Ram Tah's decryption program (see History below) and holding the correct combination of artifacts(s) within the SRV cargo hold while scanning an obelisk, the data packages can be decrypted to reveal information about the Guardians' biology, history, culture, language, and technology. There are 101 data packages available, however only a limited number are available at any given ruins site. Multiple ruins sites must be visited to obtain all of the data packages.
- Each obelisk is programmed with only 1 unique data package. The correlation between the ancient artifacts and Guardian information is as follows:
- Guardian Info. Ancient Artifact* Data Packages Available
- Biology Urn 19
- Culture Totem 20
- History Casket 21
- Language Tablet 21
- Technology Orb 20
- * This is the base artifact that decrypts the data. This artifact must be in the SRV cargo hold either alone or with another ancient artifact/relic in the correct combination for that specific obelisk.
- Example: the correct combination to decrypt data from a biology obelisk is one of the following 7 possible combinations: Urn alone, Urn+Urn, Urn+Totem, Urn+Casket, Urn+Tablet, Urn+Orb, or Urn+Relic.
- Notes for Ram Tah's mission "Decoding The Ancient Ruins":
- Players do not need to unlock the engineer Ram Tah. Any ship docking in the Meene system will automatically receive the mission upon arrival. They will receive an inbox message from Ram Tah and the mission automatically appears on the Transactions tab of the left side panel.
- The mission pays 1 million credits for each data item decrypted. Progress can be checked on the left side panel Transactions tab. If all data items are collected, there is an additional bonus of 10 million credits (total reward of 111 million credits).
- The player has 28 days to gather data and return them to Felice Dock in Meene.
- If the scan combination is correct a message will be received from Ram Tah with the contents of the data. (Note: sometimes the messages are delayed, and appear later after other scans.) If the combination is incorrect, a message from Ram Tah will indicate this. If one of the objects is correct but the combination is not, no message is received (hint).
- These are the first 14 sites identified by CMDRs (sorted by date of discovery) prior to Ram Tah's scanner upgrade.
- Alpha layouts - 4 identified variants. All Alpha-type sites have the first third of Guardian data entries.
- Beta layouts - 5 identified variants. All Beta-type sites have the second third of Guardian data entries.
- Gamma layouts - 3 identified variants. All Gamma-type sites have the final third of Guardian data entries.
