- A short Shakespeare play about people accusing a real artist of using AI to create his art
- Act 1, Scene 1:
- (A painter's studio. The painter, WILLIAM, is working on a canvas when a group of people, including a CRITIC, enter)
- CRITIC:
- Halt, William, we have come to see
- If the art you create is truly thee.
- WILLIAM:
- My dear friends, what do you imply?
- My art is mine, and mine alone, I defy
- CRITIC:
- But rumors say, you use a tool
- A machine, to make your art look cool
- WILLIAM:
- (indignantly)
- That is a lie, a vicious deceit
- My art is made with my own hand, complete
- CRITIC:
- Then prove it to us, let us see
- The process, the strokes, the technique
- WILLIAM:
- (proudly)
- I have nothing to hide, come observe
- The creation of art, it's what I deserve
- (The critic and the group observe William as he paints, and are convinced of his authenticity)
- CRITIC:
- My apologies, William, we were wrong
- Your art is true, and truly strong
- WILLIAM:
- (graciously)
- No harm done, my friends, all is well
- My art speaks for itself, as you can tell
- (The group exits, leaving William to continue working on his canvas)
- Act 1, Scene 2:
- (The same studio, a few weeks later. William is again working on a canvas when the critic and another group of people enter)
- CRITIC 2:
- William, we come to you once more
- To question the authenticity of your art, we abhor
- WILLIAM:
- (exasperated)
- Again? My art is true, I swear
- I use no machine, nor do I care
- CRITIC 2:
- Then how do you explain this piece
- So precise, so perfect, it must be decease
- WILLIAM:
- (puzzled)
- I do not understand, this is my art
- Created by me, with my own heart
- CRITIC 2:
- Then show us, prove it to our eyes
- The process, the strokes, the artful guise's lies
- (William shows the process, but this time, the group is not convinced)
- CRITIC 2:
- I'm sorry William, but it's clear to see
- Your art is not what it appears to be
- WILLIAM:
- (disheartened)
- But I swear, I have not used AI
- My art is true, it's not a lie
- CRITIC 2:
- Believe what you will, but to us, it's fake
- Your art, your career, is at stake.
- (The group exits, leaving William alone, in despair)
- Epilogue:
- The artist, William, was accused of using AI to create his art and his reputation was ruined. He struggled to prove his authenticity but the accusations stuck. He was forced to find a new way to create art, one that would be accepted by the public and the art world. He learned to embrace the new technology and create something unique, something that was truly his own. He will always be remembered for his journey and his determination to prove the authenticity of his art.
- The moral of the story is that, the truth will always prevail, but it's important to be open to change and new technologies, and to find a way to incorporate them into your own art, and make it
- just finish the last paragraph
- unique and true to yourself. And always be ready to prove your authenticity and integrity as an artist.
