  1. The Fulcrux of Carakhan.
  2. A line of tawny sand stretches out as far as the eye can see, a crescent embracing the gentle waves
  3. that lap lazily against it. Crystal clear at the beach, the water fades into brilliant aquamarine as
  4. it reaches towards the horizon. Light glances off the ripples in patterns of lines, adding
  5. highlights to the mostly uniform water. Far in the distance, a ring of coral barely breaks free of
  6. the calm ocean, glinting pale red in the eternal morning sun. Languidly hanging overhead, an archway
  7. of driftwood lies here. Waves lap at the shore, washing over a golden pearl resting on the sand.
  8. You see a single exit leading through an archway of driftwood.
  9.
  10. The sand shifts in a soft hiss as Avaris flexes his taloned, chitinous feet upon
  11. the beach, the red flow of his antennae undulating languidly, as if stirred by a gentle current.
  12. After a moment, he turns his attention towards the water, and makes his way towards it, until he
  13. stands, waist-deep, the waves lapping upon the smooth, seashell-white of his armoured torso. The
  14. pools of his large eyes are inverted teardrops of brilliant azure, the facets glinting with
  15. occasional shimmers of an internal light as he stares out across the surface of the Fulcrux's ocean.
  16. Bowing so low that he grows perilously close to submerging his head beneath the waves, he slips his
  17. hands through the water and relaxes them, allowing them to drift faintly with each stir of the sea.
  18.
  19. Kneeling humbly, you press your palms together before you and close your eyes momentarily as you
  20. pray devoutly to Carakhan, Sculptor of Waves, "[A quiet presence gradually makes itself known,
  21. patient as one waiting for the tide to flow in. There is a sense of formality, a respect and
  22. appreciation that is distant, but sincere.] Greetings, Lady Sculptor. I apologise if this disturbs
  23. You, but I would not do so if I did not believe it to be important enough to warrant approaching
  24. You. I have but recently come to New Celest, but even so, there is much weighing upon my heart
  25. already. I seek clarity, and the wisdom of Ones with greater perspective and experience than I.
  26. Would You impart to me Your opinion on the Wyrd, and New Celest's ongoing alliance with it? I feel
  27. very strongly that it is blackening waters that should be pure, and clear - They are made murky, and
  28. cloud the eyes and hearts of the citizenry, to my mind. I would change it, if I can, but I am
  29. striving to act in a more considered, less brash manner. If You would see fit to guide me, Lady, I
  30. would be deeply appreciative. May Your passion and imagination never ebb.".
  31.
  32. Avaris rises from his bow, lifting all four of his hands up to watch the rivulets
  33. of water flow down about his carapace like dozens of miniature stream, then turns, wading back to
  34. shore.
